00:00Shocking footage from inside a busy Starbucks.
00:03The video, obtained by Radio Canada, shows the moment two people rush in and head directly to the back of the coffee shop.
00:11CBC News is not showing the moment of the shooting, but in the aftermath, people cower on the floor as the suspects run out.
00:18It happened at 10.30 a.m. Wednesday, as people stopped in to grab a coffee.
00:23Three men were shot, one killed.
00:26Radio Canada sources confirm this was a targeted hit on Haralambos Theolou, known as Bobby the Greek.
00:34He's alleged to have been in charge of an organized crime ring called the Shomity Greeks.
00:39His two associates also hit, but they survived.
00:43It's unacceptable, unacceptable what we saw today, to have such violence in a public space, in front of families, in front of people.
00:52To us, obviously, we don't want this in our city.
00:56A brazen attack, with the suspects still on the loose.
00:59Police say they're upping patrols on the streets.
01:02There's a big impact on the feeling, the safety feeling for citizens.
01:07So what we're going to do, we're going to work with our teams to put more visibility on the street.
01:14We're going to target strategic targets to be sure that the organized crime understand that we're going to be there.
01:25Reassurances, too, coming from Quebec's Minister of Public Security.
01:29We need to maintain pressure on organized crime.
01:32And this is my duty, this is my job, this is my mandate.
01:35And believe me, it's going to happen every day.
01:36Provincial police have taken over the investigation and are asking anybody with information to share it with them.
01:44Sarah, Laval police are assuring residents they are safe, but similar incidents have happened before?
01:50Yes, and more than one case.
01:53Targeted shootings, particularly with the Montreal Mafia in 2019, there was a shooting inside a Laval hotel with people around, including children.
02:04That followed two other targeted attacks within the same week.
02:09Then, as in now, Laval police promised a crackdown.
