00:05This is the latest that we're tracking.
00:06Now two attacks have occurred on cinemas in Oakville in Canada.
00:10Important information coming in from Canada as theatre screening was of course of South Asian films which has been targeted.
00:18Important to understand that the theatre owner has come out and said that the business is as usual and that they will continue the screenings.
00:25Important information coming in from Canada at this point in time, visuals of which are present on your screens at the moment.
00:31You can see the cinema halls which were attacked.
00:34Now there have been two attacks in Oakville and in Canada.
00:42Well on this you have my colleague Vishal Vivek joining us on the telecast.
00:45Vishal, help us understand what exactly is the motive behind these attacks.
00:49Is there any information on that?
00:50So far the motive is not clear because the people who are behind these attacks, their identity has not been ascertained.
00:59The authorities are mum on that.
01:01We have also written to the local police there.
01:03We are still waiting on the response from them.
01:06But reports do indicate that there could be some kind of rumblings due to South Asian movie screenings.
01:12And what do these South Asian movies mean?
01:14They could also mean the South Indian movies that have been released there.
01:17But there is no official confirmation on that because some reports do suggest that one of the biggest movies to come from India,
01:23Kantara, the second part, that movie screening could have been pulled due to these incidents.
01:29But the CEO of the chain of cinemas that we just heard, he has not commented officially on that.
01:35He says that the theatre is open for business.
01:37It is business as usual.
01:38It is just that the outer entrance of the theatre has been damaged and that damage will be repaired within a few days.
01:47So there is no cause of worry according to the CEO of the theatre.
01:50But there have been two incidents as we have shown on screen.
01:54First one happened on September 25th and the second one just a day ago.
01:58And both the incidents appear to have been perpetrated by a couple of activists.
02:04We are still not sure as to which group could have done this.
02:08But the visuals tell the story.
02:11First one is an arson attack during which the entrance was almost burnt down.
02:15And there was another incident in which some shots were fired on the theatre.
02:20But luckily no injuries have been reported as these incidents seem to have taken place during the overnight hours.
02:27And that has prevented the incident from becoming a tragedy.
02:35But absolutely Vishal.
02:36There is also information of the theatre that was of course screening a Telugu movie is what we are being told.
02:42Help us understand, does this seem to be a deliberate attack on theatres that are screening South Asian films?
02:47See, as I mentioned, there are reports that claim that this could be related to the South Indian movie industry.
02:55As to the distribution rights, you know, the profits that many distributors share pertaining to the South Indian industry.
03:04All of that, all of those details, the local police, they are yet to comment on that.
03:09We have written to them as I mentioned earlier.
03:10But these are incidents that, you know, authorities are really careful about.
03:15They are investigating the matter as we speak because they really try to burn the theatre down.
03:21The fact that there was nobody inside the theatre, that was the only point of relief.
03:26But this could have ballooned into a huge tragedy if there were people inside.
03:32So Canadian authorities will definitely investigate the matter properly.
