The interception and detention of the Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) volunteers, despite the humanitarian nature of their mission, goes against universal values of compassion, says His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia.

His Majesty described the flotilla as a noble mission aimed at helping those suffering from hunger, including the elderly, women and children.

00:13In a statement on Friday, Sultan Ibrahim described the flotilla as a noble mission aimed at helping
00:19those suffering from hunger, including the elderly, women and children.
00:24His Majesty highlighted that volunteers, including Malaysians, had taken risks to carry a message
00:29of humanity to the international stage.
00:33Yet, despite their humanitarian mission to deliver food supplies, they were blocked and detained.
00:39Earlier, Sultan Ibrahim granted an audience to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim at
00:45Istana Bukit Tunku, during which the Prime Minister presented an update on the latest developments,
00:52including Malaysia's ongoing diplomatic efforts to secure the release of the detained volunteers.
00:57His Majesty also offered prayers that the government's efforts to assist Malaysian volunteers will
01:03be eased and protected by Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.
