00:00The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission says political commentator Murray Hunter

00:06was arrested in Bangkok last month after failing to cooperate with Thai authorities in an investigation.

00:14MCMC confirmed it had lodged police reports in Malaysia and Thailand last year

00:19over Hunter's publications concerning Malaysian institutions, including the commission itself.

00:26A civil suit was also filed in Malaysia and the cause papers were served on him in Thailand.

00:35MCMC said Hunter's arrest on September 29th at Suvarnabhumi Airport

00:39was linked to his non-compliance with Thai summonses and falls under Thai jurisdiction.

00:46He was arrested while preparing to leave for Hong Kong,

00:50jailed overnight and released on bail pending a November 17th court date.

00:56Hunter is an Australian national known for his critical writings on Malaysian politics

01:02and now resides in Thailand.
