00:00The film kicks off with four magicians, Daniel Atlas, a master of card tricks, Merritt McKinney,
00:09a gifted mentalist, Henley Reeves, an escape artist, and Jack, a trickster, receiving mysterious
00:14tarot cards that lead them to a New York apartment. Upon arriving, only Jack can open the locked door,
00:19revealing an empty room with only a mysterious hologram. A year later, the quartet comes together
00:24to form the mesmerizing group called The Horsemen, generously backed by the wealthy Arthur Tressler.
00:29Their performances usually captivate large audiences. Like in their latest show in the
00:33Lights of Las Vegas, where they unveil their wildest trick yet, a daring bank heist orchestrated with
00:38the participation of an audience member. The member seems to be a randomly chosen individual,
00:43a French citizen named Etienne. For the stunt, Etienne has to wear a mysterious helmet. With
00:47the help of it, he embarks on a journey through space and time, materializes in the vault of his
00:52Parisian bank. Etienne, being in Paris, is video broadcasted on a large screen, where the audience
00:57can watch Etienne apparently being in the Parisian vault. The magic trick happens smoothly and exactly
01:02as planned. The horsemen take Etienne and the cash from Paris back to Las Vegas Arena. And as Etienne
01:07returns, the money starts to rain from the ceiling, surprising everyone and making the audience cheer
01:12loudly. Of course, such a bold stunt as robbing a bank crosses the lines of legality. And unfortunately
01:17for the horsemen, their Las Vegas trick arouses suspicion, not only of police, but even of the FBI.
01:22The FBI agent in charge of this matter is Dylan Rhodes. He prides himself on being a logical
01:27thinker and rejects the world of illusionary magic. He and his FBI partner make the initial
01:32arrest of the four horsemen. But to his surprise, he notices that Interpol agent Alma Dre has as well
01:38caught up with the case. Though Rhodes initially resents the collaboration, he eventually warms
01:41up to it. Together, they begin interrogating the horsemen. Conducting separate interviews,
01:46they hit dead end after dead end. But it comes even worse for them when they find the horsemen
01:50playing tricks on the police. With insufficient evidence, the authorities are compelled to release
01:54them. In the process of their investigations, Rhodes and Dre eventually turn to Thaddeus Bradley,
01:59a former magician turned magic debunker who witnessed a Las Vegas stunt in the audience.
02:03However, Agent Rhodes, not a fan of magic, initially doubts Bradley's ability to be of any assistance.
02:09Reluctantly, Rhodes urges Bradley to explain how the horsemen executed the stunt. And Bradley leads
02:14them back to the arena. In the now empty arena, Bradley reveals the logic behind the trick. The four
02:18horsemen had created a duplicate vault beneath the stage, and the magic of teleportation was a simple
02:23drop below. Even the supposed random selection of the volunteer was a crucial part of the trick. The
02:28chosen person and the selected bank were in fact predetermined long before the act. The Paris bank
02:32had been robbed well before, and the video the audience saw was only Etienne being inside the
02:37duplicated vault. The horsemen continue their rise in popularity, with Arthur Tressler even promoting
02:42them on live television as they fly to New Orleans for their upcoming show. Meanwhile, Rhodes and Dre
02:47closely tail them. On a flight, Rhodes and Dre start to wonder about how these four magicians
02:52managed to achieve such fame in such a short time span, considering they were only street
02:56performers a year ago. In New Orleans, Rhodes and Dre set up their observation headquarters in a small
03:01yet charming apartment. In New Orleans, Rhodes and Dre set up their observation headquarters in a small
03:06yet charming apartment. As Mardi Gras festivities begin, Rhodes grapples with frustration over the
03:11seemingly illogical magic he's charged with investigating. Dre tries to calm him down by recounting a brief
03:16experience of hers on a Parisian bridge. She describes that people make wishes, fix locks to
03:20the bridge, and cast the keys into the river, a genuinely magical tradition in her perspective.
03:25It comes to light that Bradley has also traveled to New Orleans, busy producing a TV show called
03:30The Unmasking of Magic, which tries to debunk the Four Horsemen. In his show, he unveils the
03:34mysterious cult of the Eye, an ancient organization that operated in a Robin Hood fashion, taking from the
03:40rich and giving to the poor. Bradley speculates the horsemen are following a similar path,
03:44though he holds doubts about their methods of outsmarting the law. In the midst of shooting the
03:48show, Arthur Tressler makes an appearance and attempts to sway Bradley from exposing the horsemen. In
03:53order to do so, Tressler offers Bradley a mind-blowing three and a half million dollars. However, Bradley
03:58doesn't entertain the offer and strongly declines. There seems to be a personal undercurrent to the
04:03situation. Later that night, the Four Horsemen take the stage in an old auditorium in New Orleans, with
04:08everybody being present. The Horsemen, Tressler, Agent Rhodes, Agent Dre, and of course, Bradley.
04:13The audience is as usual buzzing with excitement, anticipating the upcoming tricks. The Horsemen
04:18begin their show and start to dazzle the audience with tricks such as hypnosis, disappearing rabbits,
04:23card tricks, and soap bubbles filled with people floating through the air. However, the highlight of
04:27the New Orleans show is about to come, and it holds something truly extraordinary. McKinney,
04:32the mentalist, engages the audience, astonishing them by accurately guessing the amounts in their bank
04:37accounts. Everybody in the audience seems to struggle financially. They invite Arthur Tressler
04:41on stage as well. McKinney announces his balance, $140 million, which is written on a large check.
04:47Now, the Horsemen instruct everyone to place a prepaid check on their heads, promising a revelation
04:52about their bank accounts. The audience has to shine flashlights on their envelopes, and magically,
04:56a new balance appears. Each person finds an unexpected $70,000 added to their accounts.
05:02Simultaneously, the oversized envelope containing Tressler's money diminishes in size,
05:06mirroring the audience's gains. The truth is unveiled. The audience was not chosen randomly.
05:11Each and every person in the audience has suffered from Tressler's insurance company,
05:14which, after Hurricane Katrina, did not pay out the injured people properly. Tressler has left
05:19shocked, having lost a large amount of his wealth. The Horsemen have yet again executed a spectacular
05:23stunt and flee the arena. While Agent Rhodes and Dre try to chase the Horsemen, they escape amidst
05:28the Mardi Gras chaos in New Orleans. Later that night, Arthur Tressler and Thaddeus Bradley meet in a hotel
05:34bar. This time, Tressler carries the opposite proposal with him. After the New Orleans stunt,
05:38he offers a large amount of money to Bradley, but this time, the offer demands for the exposure of
05:43the Four Horsemen. After escaping the police in New Orleans, the Horsemen find themselves back in the
05:47New York apartment where they originally met. There, they are in deep conversation discussing an
05:51upcoming yet-to-be-revealed plan. While talking, the police catch up with them, and they are surrounding
05:56the building with special units. Agent Rhodes and Dre are of course outside as well. Just before the
06:00policemen breach the apartment, the Horsemen make a swift exit in a taxi. What they fail to notice
06:05is Bradley observing them from a safe distance. As the police enter the apartment, it's revealed
06:09that Jack Wilder actually stayed behind. Agent Rhodes and Jack Wilder start to fight each other.
06:14Before the rest of the police can arrive in the apartment, Jack initiates his escape. He steals an
06:19FBI car, and a chase through New York City streets begin. In a tragic turn of events, Jack's car flips
06:24during the chase. It crashes onto a bridge and catches fire, the explosion seemingly killing Jack
06:29Wilder. The four horsemen are now three. The police discover that the remaining three horsemen
06:33plan to rob another safe. When they arrive at the warehouse, where the safe is supposed to be,
06:37they find the warehouse empty. The horsemen, having hypnotized the security personnel and the safe
06:42already being moved elsewhere, Rhodes and the police barely catch the truck with the safe at the last
06:46moment. The police then decide to let the safe follow its intended route but secretly tail it and
06:50hide inside the truck as well. Eventually, when they arrive at the assumed destination, Rhodes and some
06:55police officers jump out of the truck, only to encounter Bradley, who instructs them to open the
06:59safe, which is only filled with balloon animals. The horsemen again were playing tricks with the
07:03police. In the middle of an industrial building, the horsemen have gathered a sizable crowd for their
07:07grand finale. The stolen money rains down on the masses as Agent Rhodes and Dre make a final attempt to
07:12catch them. However, the horsemen slip away, leaving Rhodes and Dre standing in the crowd. As the money
07:17cascades, Rhodes and Dre share a tender farewell, sealing it with a brief kiss. Dre exits the building,
07:23leaving Rhodes behind. Realizing the money is counterfeit, he initiates a search for the
07:27genuine funds. The police swiftly apprehend Bradley after finding his car stuffed with the real stolen
07:32money, but Bradley insists he was framed and points to Jack Wilder as a true culprit. Rhodes,
07:36still suspicious, continues to investigate. Bradley asserts that a fifth horseman has been present
07:41all along and the revelation strikes him. Agent Rhodes himself is the final horseman. Everything was
07:46part of his elaborate plan for revenge against Bradley. Rhodes reveals he is the son of the former
07:50magician Lionel Shrike. Shrike's tragic death was a result of Bradley ruining his career by exposing
07:56and debunking his magic. After all these years, Rhodes has finally exacted his revenge and put
08:00Bradley behind bars. Meanwhile, the reunited horsemen, including the presumed dead Jack Wilder,
08:05assemble out of graveyard in front of Lionel Shrike's grave. They place their tarot cards on Shrike's
08:09grave, activating a carousel. Finally, the horsemen and Rhodes converge at the graveyard, entering the
08:14carousel. Rhodes welcomes them to the Eye, the Agent Organization. In the final scene, Dre strolls across the
08:20bridge in Paris, adorned with locks. She reads a newspaper and suddenly Rhodes joins her. He reveals
08:24everything to her as they share a look of wonder and compassion.
