How carer Jeanette Baumann used NDIS not just for herself but to care for nephew Jesse.
Transcript
00:00I had a stroke quite a few years ago, then a heart attack and kidney trouble, so I think
00:07it was a stroke that actually got me through it to NDIS and eventually Social Futures.
00:13My husband passed away two years ago, so my daughter lives here, one of my daughters lives
00:18here in Dubbo, so we decided to move here and hooked up with Social Futures and it's
00:26been great ever since.
00:30I myself am very happy with what we receive here.
00:34One great thing is they listen, they don't assume what you want, they listen to what you
00:40want and what your needs might be and then they try and put it in place.
00:45Jesse's had cerebral palsy, he's come ahead leaps and bounds since we've been here in Dubbo.
00:54Employment, social activities.
00:56He goes to the gym, so he's got a personal trainer, so he works on different parts of his body.
01:06Jesse finds it very hard balance-wise, so it's really good.
01:10He's just done taking him to the gym.
01:12He works on what he needs and the trainer picks him up and brings him home.
01:17On Wednesday, he actually even has a meal with him so that he's making sure that he's getting
01:23the right stuff, so they train and then they'll go and do that.
01:25So, you know, he's as fit as a fiddle.
01:27We're very lucky, we've been fortunate to tap into Social Futures.
01:41I can only speak highly of them, you know, if you want anything or you need anything.
01:47You've just got to get on the phone and talk to whoever and they're on top of it straight
01:52away.
01:54I'd tell everybody and anybody who needs support to reach out and get that support that they
02:02need.
02:03It can be life-changing.
02:05knows the bills.
02:16Let us know when work.
