Adventure Playground’s 10th anniversary

The Tamworth Adventure Playground is celebrating its 10th anniversary on Saturday 15 November.

00:04Back when we started fundraising, TAMWITH didn't have a major playground at all.

00:09So there was lots of little playgrounds dotted around the place,

00:12but nothing of this scale and size and the types of equipment that we've got here.

00:16When we started thinking about this playground, my children were only 2 and 3 years of age.

00:21Now they're 23, 24 years of age and working in Victoria and Western Australia and Sydney.

00:30It's really exciting and there was so much camaraderie,

00:42I don't think there's been another project that compares to it in TAMWITH.

00:46And having so many volunteers come together, a thousand community volunteers all on this site,

00:51just working alongside each other.

00:53Because as we say, it takes the community to raise a child,

00:56but it also takes a community to make big things happen in communities.

01:00And that's exactly what happened here 10 years ago.

01:02Any memories here of which parts we constructed ourselves, which parts we painted ourselves.

01:07And yeah, it just feels really, I don't know, it's a comfort coming up here.

01:12Because not only did it bring the community together to create it and build it,

01:16it brings the community together to plane it and use it and utilise it, be part of it.

01:20So on Saturday the 15th of November, we're inviting anyone and everyone who had any role to play at all

01:28in the construction, the fundraising, the planning, the artwork, in any way shape or form

01:35of making this playground the playground it is for so many children and families.
