Lewis Cox gives his take on Albion's draw on the road at Norwich.
Transcript
00:00The tale of the Joshes here from Carrow Road, where Albion have departed.
00:06Norfolk has 1-0 winners at Norwich City.
00:09Quite the night, I have to say.
00:11The tale of the Joshes.
00:13Josh Madger, Albion's returning striker, back for a first start since the very start of January.
00:19Ten long months without a start for Madger.
00:21He's the one-goal hero.
00:23He's the only goal of the night after just 20 minutes here at Carrow Road.
00:27I was going to say it was all that was taken for Albion to beat Norwich here tonight.
00:32But the other Josh of the visitors, in terms of Josh Griffiths, it has to be said, the real true hero for Albion tonight.
00:43With one of the goalkeeping performances of recent years for Albion, it has to be said.
00:50What an incredible night Josh Griffiths, the 24-year-old, has had here for Ryan Mason's side.
00:57He's made a string of saves.
00:58He's made, off the top of my head, four saves there.
01:01But the two, inside the final ten minutes, two point-blank saves.
01:07Both of them no more than six yards out, as I say, beyond the 80th minute to preserve those three points.
01:14One was from Makama.
01:17One was from Cernic.
01:18The first one was a header.
01:19The second, you know, he's down to his left.
01:21Griffiths, massive frame, but gets down to his left to somehow make the save.
01:25I mean, I thought that header had gone behind him.
01:27He almost kept it out from behind him to his left.
01:29The second, which is kind of 89th minute, I think, had to sprawl across his goal line to make that save, you know, make himself big.
01:39It made me think back to Thomas Kusak all those years ago with that famous big save of here's a former Albion keeper.
01:47Unbelievable stops, really.
01:49And his colleagues were very keen to celebrate with him, to push him in front of that boisterous away end at full time.
01:56And, you know, Josh Griffiths was rightly serenaded by the travelling baggies, 700-odd of them here in Norfolk tonight.
02:04And likewise, his teammates, you know what, that had been brilliant scenes, I'm sure, in the dressing room for Griffiths.
02:09For me, it felt a bit like a coming-of-age night for him.
02:12You know, this is his first season.
02:13We're still early into it, of course, as Albion number one, academy graduate of the club since he was 10.
02:18And he deserves, you know, every second of tonight.
02:20What a night for him.
02:21Ryan Mason's told me in there after the game that, you know, he can stand a bit taller after that.
02:26You know, feel a bit bigger and better about himself and, you know, how much space there is for him to grow and develop as number one goalkeeper here.
02:33And, you know, we know how much everyone rates him here, his potential.
02:37And I suppose, you know, as he has nights like this, he's developing, he's living that potential.
02:40So, yeah, look, big steps forward for Albion tonight.
02:43It was the first win in four.
02:47One of the things, and you can read this on the Express and Star website, Ryan Mason also pointed to his divine intervention.
02:52You know, he says he was glad the footballing gods were with his side tonight.
02:55And that comes off the back of games where Albion have dominated, really, certainly being the better team, but not put enough chances away, not killed games off.
03:02And it's come back to bite them with sucker punches, smash and grabs late on.
03:06Home to Leicester last time, home to Derby.
03:08But actually, Albion have kind of done it here, really.
03:10You know, there's a strong argument.
03:12Norwich were the better team.
03:13More chances, more shots, passes, possession.
03:15All of it in favour of the hosts, who are still yet to earn a point here this season.
03:22They're on top, yet it's Albion that have come out on top with the sort of dogged resilience workmen, like defending, as I say, Josh Griffiths between the posts.
03:31And, yeah, it's a first win in four and a big one, really, isn't it?
03:34Just to hopefully restart a little bit of momentum.
03:37We know about the scheduling.
03:37It's, you know, I'm here at midnight in Norfolk.
03:40It's well under 72 hours.
03:42And Albion will be in action again on the road at Millwall on Saturday.
03:45Ryan Mason and Albion aren't happy with that.
03:46You know, the scheduling, it happens again at the end of October.
03:49Poor, really, gives very little time to recover, to work.
03:52But they'll be doing that from, you know, work Thursday, work Friday and down to the capital.
03:57So we'll be there as well.
03:58And, yeah, what a night for Albion, the football gods and the two Joshes.
04:02We'll have all the post-match reaction as ever.
