00:04Winning and covering the spread, Duke and Darian Mensah step up.

00:10We thought that Ricky Collins played well in the road win against Clemson,

00:18He put up 227 passing yards, did throw a critical interception,
00:23but they were blown out at home by a better offense and defense on Saturday.
00:27Yeah, I mean, Ricky Collins was just inconsistent.
00:31He had some good stuff, but it was just asking for too much for him to go in there
00:36for the entire game and get them against a team like Duke.
00:40And Mensah, Duke was ready to have a great game.
00:42They went in there, and they were up 24-3 at halftime, scored 35 straight points,
00:47over 500 yards of offense, and they shut cues down.
00:51The quarterback just couldn't make it happen,
00:53and the head coach had nowhere to turn at that point,
00:57even though it was played in the Loud House up in Syracuse.
01:00It was all Duke.
01:02Because Duke is, I'm going to be honest with you,
01:03Duke is one of those teams we've talked about them.
01:06They've got a nasty little defense and a heck of a quarterback,
01:09and they're going to get themselves in the hunt here in this ACC as well.
01:14Well, they averaged 236 yards on the ground, 6.6 yards per carry.
01:20Mensah puts up over 250 passing yards, two touchdowns, no interceptions.
01:25We know that Duke lost to Illinois, a very good Illinois team that got the victory over USC last Saturday.
01:32They also lost at that particular time to an undefeated two-lane team.
01:36But they are now 2-0 in the conference.
01:38And we talk about, you know, the situation for Virginia Tech, which we'll get to a little bit later.
01:44But Duke right now is playing with house money.
01:47I think everybody's looking at Florida State, Louisville, and Duke now undefeated potentially can go on a run.
01:53And they have a quarterback in Darien Mensah that just puts up numbers.
01:57If the defense steps up the way they did on Saturday, they potentially could be a dark horse for an ACC title.
02:04Yeah, we're seeing more of these teams that made a commitment to putting money into their NIL program.
02:10Virginia talked a lot about that.
02:12They got a quarterback, and they got a bunch of players at Virginia.
02:15Duke did the same thing.
02:16Remember, they're coming off a nine-win season last year.
02:19There's a lot of carryover from that confidence they have, and they're expecting to do better.
02:24I think the Tulane game was not a conference game, but it was a standpoint of a game.
02:28They say, you know what, we'd like to beat those.
02:30We're finding out Illinois have a pretty dang good football team and the way they play and beat Southern Cal this past week.
02:36So, yeah, I think with the quarterback they have at Duke and the aggressive style of defense that Manny Diaz brought that with him.
02:43I remember when he was just a graduate assistant for my dad at Florida State, but he loved that Mickey Andrews, aggressive, across-the-line penetration defense is what he likes.
02:52And that's the way they played.
02:55But it showed up against Cuse.
02:56Cuse has just got to settle that quarterback down.
02:58They can't win it with just a quarterback.
03:00Remember, the last year their quarterback, Kyle McCord, led the nation in passing.
03:05This year, Anjeli was first in the conference in passing.
03:09They know how to throw the football.
03:11They've just got to get this new guy ready to go and have the best they can.
