00:22Because you can pick holes for certain lineups that happened this week
00:26that controversially maybe the Europeans, of course, have these great partnerships
00:32and they play well together, and when you separate them, they don't play quite as well.

00:37The Americans have got to find answers in these partnerships,
00:39and I think they need to look at who's making these decisions from a stats standpoint.
00:45Well, it's so funny to me, especially coming off of the Walker Cup just a few weeks before,
00:50how it just seems like there's this glaring chasm between American partnered match play
00:56and American individual singles match play.
01:00And it's, I mean, the Walker Cup, which historically is tilted in the Americans' favor
01:03because it's just great Britain in Ireland, GB and I actually won on aggregate
01:07in the foursomes format, and then it's got boat race and singles.
01:10And then here today, not today, but just this entire week here at Bethpage Black,
01:15it was once again just no matter what the format, foursomes, four ball,
01:18the Europeans found an edge, and they just really had a lot of combinations at work.
01:22But then you get to singles, and all these guys who struggled all week really shine.
01:26And so I think it's absolutely to your point, what is the plan?
01:31Is it more analytics? Is it different guys with different mentalities?
01:35Because I even wonder if there's part of this that is using captain's picks on guys
01:40that aren't necessarily statistically best over the course of the year,
01:44but the guys are just match play dogs.
01:47Like what happens if a Brian Harmon is here?
01:48What happens if a Patrick Reed is here?
01:50Or a Jordan Spieth?
01:52These guys would just love those sorts of moments.
01:53It's maybe not the best player on form, but guys who love to come here and compete.
01:57That's the question I ask.
01:59I think they're definitely, you can make a case about the dog mentality
02:03that you need to play well in Ryder Cups and not having too many rookies
02:07because of the atmosphere.
02:09I think form's important, though.
02:11I really do think form's important and course fit specifically,
02:14because Bethpage, when you look at this place at the end of the week,
02:18it favored the Bombers.
02:19If there was a stroke play tournament, I think majority of the field would have been
02:23at the top of the leaderboard would have been the guys that hit it far.
02:27It doesn't mean that the short guys can't play well, but in a partner's standpoint,
02:31there seem to be disadvantages that the Americans had this week.
02:35But I look at the European team and why they were so good this week.
02:39Well, you've got the top-end talent.
02:41They performed very well, no doubt about it.
02:44There's some guys that definitely are entering some Ryder Cup war from the European side
02:48that have an official stamp.
02:50You know, you've got Rory, of course, now winning away Ryder Cup,
02:53being a part of two of them, finishing the Grand Slam off.
02:57But there was just such a good balance for this European team.
03:01I think it eventually outweighed the Americans, just the form, the veterans,
03:08the top-end guys, where then you look at the Americans,
03:11and it was the question marks coming into this Ryder Cup,
03:14not having necessarily built-in partnerships.
03:18And do you head into a Dara Manor feeling like you have definite partnerships?
03:24I don't right now because there was no answers on Friday and Saturday.
03:28So you're still going to have the same question marks heading to Ireland
03:31that they had coming into this week, which is,
03:34who do you pair with Scotty Scheffler?
03:36Is Bryson DeChambeau?
03:38Who are you pairing him with?
03:39Because when we look at the scoreboard and we see 13 points for America
03:43and that Scotty Scheffler and Bryson only had two and a half of those points.
