00:00Now, as Imelda continues to churn in the eastern Atlantic, cruise lines have made adjustments
00:06to actually maximize the comfort for their passengers.
00:10Here in Port Canaveral, it is the world's second busiest port.
00:14They get about 7.5 million cruisers every year.
00:18And several of the cruise ships, including this one over my shoulder, the Utopia of the Seas,
00:22did come back early Monday morning due to the rough seas from Imelda and Umberto.
00:28The most important thing when you're planning a cruise during hurricane season is that you just remain flexible.
00:33Just know that sometimes the original plan of where you were going to go, perhaps a Caribbean island or somewhere in the Bahamas,
00:41you may end up in a different location just because the ship's goal, the captain's goal,
00:47the onboard team is really just trying to make sure that the ship sails into the safest waters possible.
00:51Now, about 12 different cruise lines did alter some of their plans,
00:56at least trying to redirect around some of the weather from the Bahamas to Florida.
01:01And they are also offering incentives for their passengers.
01:04Anyone that may get seasickness easily, they have been offered to change their tickets,
01:08or they're also being offered some type of refund if they do not want to cruise now and cruise at a later time.
01:15When the ships were smaller, we were sailing out of here, and we go all the way in the bow on the port side,
01:21and, you know, it kind of rocks you to sleep, so.
01:25So the big ships you don't feel much?
01:26No.
01:28No, no.
01:28There'll be a little bit of this and that, but it's nothing.
01:32We brought medication.
01:34I'm actually a nurse, so I brought everything we need to prepare,
01:37and we're just going to take it one day at a time,
01:39and hopefully we have enough drinks so that it doesn't bother us.
01:43Reporting in Port Canaveral, I'm Leslie Hudson for AccuWeather.
