Transcript
00:00Hello and welcome, I'm Keita Mohan and you're watching India Today Global.
00:18The big story, meeting between Donald Trump and Benjamin Netanyahu,
00:22perhaps we'll see a better future carved out for the 20-point plan for displaced Palestinians.
00:28The plan proposed by the U.S. and agreed by Netanyahu includes immediate stop to war
00:33and the release of remaining Israeli hostages by Hamas within 72 hours.
00:38What is to be seen is how far does the plan go.
00:41Here's a detailed report by Mahashweta Lala.
00:44Are you confident, sir, there'll be peace in Gaza anytime soon?
00:48It was a moment everyone was waiting for.
00:51The fourth meeting between Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and U.S. President Donald Trump
00:56finally paves the way for possible peace in Gaza.
01:00But how far will the plan go is to be seen.
01:09Trump and Netanyahu have agreed on a 20-point plan which proposes an immediate end to the fighting.
01:15The release of 20 living Israeli hostages along with remains of those believed to have died.
01:24In exchange, hundreds of detained Gazans would be freed.
01:29Hamas will lay down its arms and have no role in governing Gaza.
01:34After both sides agree to the proposal, full aid will be immediately sent into the Gaza Strip
01:40and military operations will stop.
01:42Well, this is a big, big day, a beautiful day.
01:46Potentially one of the great days ever in civilization.
01:52Things that have been going on for hundreds of years and thousands of years.
01:58We're going to, at least we're at a minimum, very, very close.
02:02And I think we'll be on very close.
02:04The 20-point plan states that Gaza would be governed by a technocratic, apolitical Palestinian committee
02:12with oversight by an international board of peace headed by Trump
02:16and also includes former U.K. Prime Minister Tony Blair and other leaders.
02:21All our hostages, both those who are alive and those who died,
02:27all of them will return home immediately.
02:30Hamas will be disarmed.
02:34Gaza will be demilitarized.
02:37Israel will retain security responsibility,
02:40including a security perimeter for the foreseeable future.
02:45Several countries had come together last week to recognize a Palestine state,
02:50but Netanyahu denied any agreement on two-state solution.
02:55Absolutely not. And it's not written in the agreement either.
02:58But one thing we did say, we will strongly oppose a Palestinian state.
03:03And President Trump also said this.
03:05He said that he understands this.
03:07And he said it, it is obvious that this would be a huge reward for terror
03:11and a danger to the state of Israel.
03:14And of course, we won't agree to that.
03:15Trump was speaking to reporters after the meeting said the plan also includes the Arab and Muslim countries
03:24who will contribute to demilitarizing Gaza and persuading Hamas to give up arms.
03:30Trump also said if Hamas did not accept the plan,
03:34he will give Israel full backing to do what it would have to do.
03:37Under the plan, Arab and Muslim countries have committed,
03:43and in writing in many cases, but I actually would take their word for it,
03:47the people I mentioned, I'd take their word for it,
03:50to demilitarize Gaza, and that's quickly.
03:55De-commission the military capabilities of Hamas
03:59There are mixed reactions on the proposal from civilians on both sides.
04:21It looks like finally, finally, finally we have a deal to end the war,
04:27the bloody war in Gaza, and bring all our people back home.
04:32This is very, very good news.
04:35President Trump, like he said, is totally committed to bringing peace
04:40and prosperity to this region.
04:43And this can only start with the ending of the war in Gaza
04:47and bringing back all our people.
04:49The plan that they talked about yesterday abolishes the Palestinian state,
04:52which was recognized by many countries.
04:55And this is a new colonialism with a new approach
04:57and abolishes the capital of Palestine, Jerusalem.
05:01All the principles for the liberation of Palestine were cancelled yesterday.
05:05For me, this is a new colonialism.
05:08India, along with other global leaders, welcomed Trump's plan for Gaza.
05:13The leaders praised Trump's efforts and leadership to end the war in Gaza.
05:17As hope for a new life knocks on the door of thousands of Gazans,
05:22the world hopes to see the end of a war that has ravished the future of an entire generation.
05:28This is an India Today global exclusive event where the global smooth flotilla is
05:41and spoke with Bashirah Sumar, who is an activist aboard one of the boats in that flotilla,
05:47history's largest aid mission to Gaza.
05:49With 50 boats carrying humanitarian supplies, they are now entering the danger zone,
05:54facing imminent Israeli interception, network blackouts, and potential arrest.
05:59Here, why these brave activists refuse to turn back.
06:03You can watch the entire interview on India Today global's YouTube channel.
06:10This is a mega India Today global exclusive.
06:14With the global smooth flotilla, boats with humanitarian aid that are headed towards Gaza,
06:21with the boats now approaching Gaza, what's really going to happen?
06:26Will they be intercepted by the Israeli forces?
06:29And would there be arrests and detentions?
06:32There are activists, many of them on board.
06:34And I'm being joined by one of those activists from the flotilla
06:39that's moving towards and inching towards Gaza.
06:43Bashirah Sumar, thank you so much for joining us here on India Today global.
06:47This is a huge effort.
06:49You're part of the global smooth flotilla.
06:52First, describe your journey up until now
06:54and the difficulties you and all the others have faced up until now.
06:59Hi, thank you for having me.
07:01So, yes, I'm one of the organizers for the global smooth flotilla,
07:04and we've been planning this for about three months now.
07:07I mean, it's been a lot to plan in such a short time frame.
07:10We have about 50 boats on water,
07:12and we had three to four different boats that boats were departing from.
07:16So, it was very pressurized.
07:17There's a lot of challenges.
07:18You know, we had to train over 600 people in a couple of weeks
07:22to be prepared for this.
07:24It's the biggest ever flotilla mission that anyone has ever attempted.
07:29So, it's been very challenging, very time-patient,
07:32but, you know, what we've managed in this short time frame is incredible,
07:37and we are now sailing,
07:38but 50 boats of us together,
07:41and we're just outside of 200 miles outside of Gaza.
07:45Right. Bashirah, can you just show us around?
07:48You're there on a boat.
07:49What does this entire flotilla look like?
07:51The boats and the people around, the waters.
07:55Just show us around.
07:56Let us take a look at the visuals.
07:59So, we are a little bit dispersed.
08:01The boats are a little bit dispersed,
08:03so you can see them in the distance.
08:05There's some sailing boats around.
08:10Some of the people on the boat.
08:13And there's some boats on the side as well.
08:15Okay.
08:17This is a massive effort with a lot of aid.
08:20How did you all manage the logistics?
08:22How did you all manage putting all this aid together
08:25and organizing the flotilla with so many boats?
08:28So, we're actually a coalition of three different movements.
08:33You know, it's a massive civilian-led movement.
08:36We are part of the global movement to Gaza,
08:40so we actually went to the march in June this year.
08:43And so, we join forces with both the freedom,
08:46the flotilla coalition, and the smooth convoy.
08:50So, I mean, there's been hundreds of us organizing together.
08:54But, I mean, in terms of aid,
08:55look, if we both carry some humanitarian aid on it,
08:58but the idea is to upload that aid onto the house,
09:02I'm sure, once we get there.
09:04But we know that that aid is not enough.
09:06You know, there's just some aid on 50 boats.
09:08It's not going to touch sides.
09:09It's what we actually, what our main objective is
09:12is to actually open up a permanent humanitarian party
09:15so that once we get to the shore where we deliver aid,
09:19it allows other vessels to come in to deliver aid by sea.
09:22It allows the land to open to deliver aid by land.
09:26And that's our main objective for doing this.
09:29Finally, finally, Bashira,
09:31are you all prepared for arrests, detentions,
09:34being taken and then being deported?
09:36Are you prepared for everything and anything
09:38that could happen to you
09:39should the interceptions happen
09:42and the Israeli forces then take you under arrest
09:45or detain you?
09:47We have prepared for all scenarios.
09:50We have gone through the different likelihoods
09:53of how this will play out.
09:55We are all prepared.
09:56Everything we endure is nothing compared
09:59to what the Palestinians endure.
10:01And so we are willing to take those risks.
10:04On that note, Bashira Sumar,
10:05thank you so much for joining us here on India Today Global.
10:08We are wishing and hoping that the aid reaches the people of Gaza
10:12because they badly, badly need it.
10:14And hoping that you, all of you,
10:16complete your mission and go home safely.
10:19President Trump has not only tried to broker ceasefire in Gaza,
10:26but in it is the plan for the Arab world
10:29to normalize ties with Israel.
10:31Can this deal extend to the Persian Gulf?
10:34Trump wants Iran in the Abraham Accord.
10:36Is that even possible?
10:37We explain in Statecraft.
10:39Watch an excerpt from the show,
10:40which is available on India Today Global's YouTube channel.
10:49Donald Trump has never been shy about big, bold statements.
10:59But his latest idea has been a little out of the box,
11:02even for Trump.
11:03He wants Iran to join the Abraham Accords
11:06and make peace with Israel.
11:07And who knows, maybe even Iran can get in there.
11:10I hope, we expect,
11:12we hope we're going to be able to get along with Iran.
11:17I think they're going to be open to it.
11:20I really believe that.
11:22Yes, you heard that right.
11:23The very nation that calls Israel the little Satan
11:26could, under Trump's vision,
11:29sit at the same table,
11:30sign the same papers,
11:32and shake the same hands
11:33that once sealed peace deals
11:35between Israel and the UAE,
11:37Bahrain, and Morocco.
11:39It's an audacious pitch,
11:41dropped in the middle of Gaza's agony
11:43and after years of Israeli-Iranian proxy wars.
11:48But can a country
11:49whose founding ideologies rooted in death to Israel
11:52really become its friend?
11:55Or is Trump selling a fantasy too wild
11:57to ever materialize?
11:59Hello and welcome.
12:00You're watching Statecraft with me, Gita Mohan.
12:10The Abraham Accords, launched in 2020,
12:13were built on a simple logic.
12:15Unite Israel and Sunni Arab states
12:17against Iran's rising power.
12:20They were never meant to include Tehran.
12:22In fact, Iran was the very reason behind the Accords,
12:26the common enemy,
12:27the threat that forced Arab capitals
12:30and Tel Aviv into alignment.
12:32Tehran denounced them as betrayal,
12:35branded the signatories traitors,
12:37and doubled down on proxy wars
12:39from Lebanon to Yemen.
12:41And yet, Trump now floats the unthinkable,
12:45inviting Iran into a club designed to isolate it.
12:48Can decades of hostility, ideology, and bloodshed
12:52be erased by one deal?
12:56The Abraham Accords were Trump's signature diplomatic trophy in 2020.
13:01Israel got what it craved most,
13:03recognition, legitimacy, and normalization.
13:07The UAE and Bahrain broke ranks
13:09with decades of Arab consensus,
13:11signing deals in Washington with much fanfare.
13:15From day one, Tehran spat fire at the Accords.
13:19To Iran, the signatories were traitors
13:21selling out Palestinians.
13:23To revolutionary guards,
13:25it was proof of Zionist manipulation.
13:27Threats flew, warnings echoed,
13:30and proxy groups were armed with more resolve.
13:32Their Accords were a cage built around Iran.
13:36Sunni Arabs, Israel, and the U.S.,
13:39locking arms to counter the so-called axis of resistance.
13:43For Israel, it was security in numbers.
13:46For Iran, it was betrayal upon betrayal.
13:49The entire arrangement thrived on keeping Tehran
13:53outside the circle,
13:54which makes Trump's new pitch to invite Iran inside
13:57not just shocking, but almost heretical.
14:01Trump's gamble is that spectacle can override history.
14:06The question is,
14:07can even Trump bend this much hostility into a handshake?
14:11For Iran to join the Abraham Accords,
14:14three mountains would have to move.
14:16First, ideology.
14:17Tehran would have to silence the chants of death to Israel
14:21that echo every Friday.
14:23Second, the revolutionary guard core.
14:26These power brokers thrive on anti-Israel militancy.
14:30They'd lose purpose and profit if peace replaced proxy war.
14:34Third, the nuclear issue.
14:36Israel won't shake hands while Iran enriches uranium.
14:40That means inspections, limits,
14:43maybe even dismantling key facilities.
14:46Add to that public opinion.
14:48Millions of Iranians thought for decades
14:50that Israel is their sworn enemy.
14:53The political risk is enormous.
14:56Could any Iranian leader survive that gamble?
15:00The deal between Trump and Xi on TikTok is more than what meets the eye.
15:06The several rounds of meetings between Chinese and American officials,
15:09which ultimately saw both the parties reach a consensus, has a caveat.
15:14According to Wall Street Journal,
15:16in return for clearing the sale of TikTok's U.S. operations,
15:19Xi appears to be pushing Trump to not support the independence of Taiwan.
15:23And WSJ reports suggest that Trump could be just granting a wish to Xi.
15:28Trump has canceled military aid worth $400 million to Taiwan.
15:33The U.S. has further weakened the security partnership in the region
15:37and reduced its strategic importance in the Indo-Pacific,
15:40thus leaving Taiwan vulnerable to Chinese aggression.
15:43China considers Taiwan a breakaway province,
15:46and President Xi Jinping has reiterated his commitment
15:49to unify Taiwan with the mainland forcefully if required.
15:53According to U.S. intelligence community,
15:55Xi plans to invade Taiwan by 2027.
16:01U.S. President Donald Trump recently shared a now-deleted video
16:06on his Truth Social account promoting a so-called miracle machine called MedBeds.
16:11But what are these MedBeds, and why are they being discussed online?
16:16Let's break it down.
16:17Watch this report by Jyoti Shukla.
16:35U.S. President Donald Trump is once again at the center of controversy.
16:39This time, not over politics, but over a so-called miracle machine called the MedBed.
16:47Over the weekend, his Truth Social account posted an AI-generated video
16:51promoting these futuristic beds that conspiracy theorists believe can cure any disease.
16:57By the next morning, the clip was quietly deleted.
17:00Donald J. Trump has announced a historic new healthcare system,
17:05the launch of America's first MedBed hospitals and a national MedBed card for every citizen.
17:11Every American will soon receive their own MedBed card.
17:15With it, you'll have guaranteed access to our new hospitals,
17:19led by the top doctors in the nation,
17:21equipped with the most advanced technology in the world.
17:24These facilities are safe, modern, and designed to restore every citizen to full health and strength.
17:32This is the beginning of a new era in American healthcare.
17:35In this first phase, only a limited number of MedBed cards will be released.
17:40Registration details will be announced very soon.
17:43The video looked like a Fox News broadcast hosted by Trump's daughter-in-law, Lara Trump.
17:50But it was fake.
17:52The AI version of Lara declared that America's first MedBed hospitals had launched,
17:57complete with national MedBed cards for every citizen.
18:02The video even showed a fabricated Trump promising that these facilities
18:06would restore every American to full health and strength.
18:09To add drama, it claimed that only a limited number of cards would be released in the first phase.
18:17But what exactly are MedBeds?
18:20The conspiracy theory suggests that governments and militaries are secretly hiding healing machines.
18:26Believers say they can reverse aging, cure deadly diseases, and even regrow limbs.
18:33Some insist they use futuristic technology like quantum energy or terahertz light.
18:38Others go a step further, claiming the machines are of alien origin.
18:45Supporters argue that big pharma and global elites already use them,
18:49but keep them hidden to protect profits.
18:52The theory first spread in QAnon circles and has since flooded Facebook groups.
18:57Some groups even charge hundreds of dollars for so-called insider access.
19:02Others sell MedBed cards or even build fake machines, claiming they boost health.
19:07In reality, there is no scientific evidence that MedBeds exist.
19:13Companies cashing in on the hype, like Tesla BioHealing,
19:17have been warned by U.S. regulators for unproven medical claims.
19:22Their devices, some costing over $11,000,
19:25are now marketed as general wellness tools rather than cures.
19:29Despite this, the myth endures.
19:31One version even claims that John F. Kennedy Jr., who died in 1999,
19:37is alive today thanks to MedBeds.
19:41Experts call it pure pseudoscience.
19:44As one disinformation analyst put it,
19:46it's hard to define something that doesn't exist.
19:49For now, MedBeds remain a viral fantasy.
19:53A blend of false hope, internet conspiracy and profit.
19:57Google's YouTube has agreed to pay $24.5 million to settle a lawsuit by President Donald Trump
20:13over his 2021 account suspension following the 6th January 2021 attack on U.S. capital.
20:20Google is the latest big tech company to settle lawsuits with Trump.
20:24In January, Meta Platforms agreed to pay $25 million to settle a lawsuit over his 2021 suspension from Facebook.
20:32Elon Musk's ex agreed to settle a similar lawsuit brought against the company then known as Twitter for $10 million.
20:41The disclosure of the settlement came a week before a scheduled October 6th court hearing
20:45to discuss the case with U.S. District Judge in Oakland, California.
20:49A statue of Mahatma Gandhi in London's Tavistock Square was defaced days before Gandhi-Jayanti celebrations
21:01scheduled to take place at the site on the 2nd of October.
21:05The High Commission of India has strongly condemned the incident,
21:08calling it a shameful act and an assault on the legacy of nonviolence.
21:12In a post on X, the Indian Mission said the desecration was reported to local authorities
21:18as officials were on site to coordinate the restoration of the monument to its original state.
21:24The bronze statue was sculpted and unveiled in 1968 at the Square.
21:28And with that, it's a close of this edition of India Today Global.
21:36But before that, I'll leave you with this.
