00:00Well, we have another very warm day. Temperatures back in the 80s today after some of us broke records yesterday.
00:06We could be record territory again by the end of the week, but finally some changes are moving in as we head towards the weekend.
00:12Well, it was definitely a hot one yesterday. These are temperatures at 4 p.m. Monday, a lot of 90s in southern and western Minnesota.
00:30Granite Falls, Appleton, the warm spots both hitting 93, Montevideo, several other places hitting 90, and a few places broke records.
00:39St. Cloud, Brainerd, and Hibbing either broke or tied daily records for September the 29th.
00:46And no surprise, it's another very warm September despite a few cool days at the beginning of the month.
00:52Keeping in modern climate trends, September is one of our fastest warming months.
00:56We're going to end up four degrees or more above normal.
00:59And that's enough to put us in the eighth warmest September in the Twin Cities out of 152 years of records.
01:04Half of the top ten spots now are all just since 2004.
01:08So another unequivocal sign that our climate is changing. Summers are getting longer around here.
01:15We've got that center of the upper-level high, that upper-level ridge just to our south-southeast, keeping things warm.
01:21We've been back in a southerly flow here for the last couple of days.
01:24Those dew points are higher. You probably noticed that. Very dry air over the weekend. That's gone.
01:27Dew points in the 50s. Not quite humid, but definitely more moisture.
01:31Southerly flow and some high clouds streaming in with some of that warmer air as it moves in.
01:36Very weak upper-level disturbance moving through, creating some of those high clouds.
01:40And maybe even a sprinkle or two in parts of the state.
01:42But highs still in the 80s today, just not as warm as yesterday.
01:45But we're going to be warming right back up here.
01:47Mid-80s again Thursday. Upper 80s to near 90 Friday and Saturday.
01:52Yeah, that's October 3rd and 4th. Potential records could fall Friday. Again, St. Cloud and Brainerd.
01:58Even the Twin Cities, our record high on Friday is 90. We may get very close to that.
02:02We've only hit 90 in October a few times in all 152 years of records.
02:07So that front, though, is coming through this weekend. It is going to drop the temperatures, create some rainfall.
02:12But the timing is delayed a little. And the way these things tend to go, it may continue to delay some.
02:18So now looking like Sunday, Sunday night, best chance of some rainfall.
02:21Not particularly promising in southern Minnesota.
02:25Models favoring generally the northern part of the state for anything more significant.
02:28Maybe an inch or so of rain there. But we haven't seen measurable rainfall since the 21st.
02:32So by that time, it'll be a good couple weeks since we've had rain.
02:3582 today. Average for late July. Not the end of September.
02:41And we'll be back in those temperature territories tomorrow.
02:44Definitely a mix of clouds, mid-level clouds today and sunshine.
02:48Tomorrow should be a little brighter. Filtered sun again through some high clouds.
02:51Then we're looking at mainly clear skies again Thursday, Friday.
02:54And that kind of center of the heat dome getting a little closer to us again Friday, Saturday.
02:58So upper 80s. Again, a shot at 90. Pretty incredible stuff.
03:02And then we will see that chance of shower Sunday.
03:04Finally, some cooler temperatures as we head into next week.
03:08But we're still going to be a few degrees above normal actually.
03:11Those mid to upper 60s highs are still above normal.
03:14By next week, the normal high is about 62.
03:16So we'll still be a little bit above that.
03:18But at least we're in the realm of normal by next week.
03:22We'll see you guys.
03:32We'll see you guys.
