00:00Several Muslim nations have backed a peace plan put forward by United States President Donald Trump to end the war in Gaza.
00:08Eight Arab and Muslim-majority countries pledged to engage constructively with the US and other parties to finalise and implement the agreement.
00:19Among the signatories were Egypt, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates and Turkey.
00:23Qatar, a key mediator and Saudi Arabia, seen as central to any future normalisation with Israel, also joined the statement.
00:32Indonesia and Pakistan, the world's most populous Muslim-majority nations, endorsed the plan as well,
00:37with Jakarta even offering troops for a potential peacekeeping force in Gaza.
00:42Meanwhile, Islamic Jihad, a group which has fought alongside Hamas, condemned the proposal,
00:47calling it a continuation of aggression against Palestinians disguised as diplomacy.
00:52The group argued that Israel was trying to achieve, through negotiations, what it had failed to secure on the battlefield.
