The Florist of Bere opens in Denmead

Yvonne has just opened her florist The Florist of Bere in Hambledon Road, Denmead, on Monday, September 29, 2025.

00:00Hi, my name's Yvonne and I am the owner of The Flourist of Beer, based in Denmead.

00:08Tell me how long you've been doing floristry.

00:10Well, I've always been into flowers, especially as little girls, because we do like to go and pick things.

00:16However, I had to get a job in the grown-up world before I could come and play with flowers.

00:22So, I've now been six months, I think, since I've started working with Real Flowers.

00:31So, tell me how you got into it and how your love for flowers then developed into now a career.

00:37I was unfortunate to actually have a life-changing event and that caused me to have to re-evaluate what I was doing.

00:51Part of my healing, I started to make flowers from paper and they became quite successful.

01:02And from there, I've grown into bringing onto the fresh flowers as well.

01:08I don't like to say that I do fake flowers because they're not. They're paper flowers and they're fresh flowers.

01:14And it's just grown and I got the opportunity to bring my floristry to the community.

01:23I got the opportunity to open the florist shop and I took it with both hands.

01:31Because I really want this to be a space where, oh, people can come and heal and feel like it's a nice space.

01:38Even just to come and visit rather than, you know, not just buy things but know that it is a safe place for them to be.

01:45And there's going to be no judgement when they're here.

01:50Tell me how it feels to have your own shop now.

01:54Surreal. Surreal. As I said previously, it was a life-changing event that brought me to where I am now.

02:03And I couldn't have, I cannot be here without what has happened to me.

02:12So I feel very blessed.

02:15And how can I say it? It's quite hard, isn't it?

02:20Yeah, I'm just really, really blessed and I'm very appreciative of how I come here and where we're going to go with the whole business.
