00:00For a closer look now, though, at Imelda's Impacts, we're joined by Allie Reed, live from Charleston, South Carolina.
00:06Allie, you just drove to Charleston. Tell us about that drive.
00:14No, the drive was perfectly fine. I mean, that's the overall general consensus here, is that things are good, people are happy,
00:21and they're just thrilled to be in Charleston, South Carolina. How could you not be happy in a place like this?
00:25And I figured we would end it in downtown Charleston. And I want to show you something.
00:29I think this sums up today. Andy, follow me for just one second here. Take a look at that.
00:34Is that not the most beautiful rainbow you have ever seen?
00:38And I think that perfectly sums up a day like today, when you have a gorgeous, stunning rainbow over Charleston, South Carolina,
00:45when you have an overcast day, a perfect day, when you're talking about Imelda, wow.
00:50That just goes to show you, it moves out into the ocean, and it says, bye-bye.
00:55Okay, it's not going to hit here in this area, right? And I think that has been the conversation of the day.
01:01But what a gorgeous way to end this, too. Not only do you have a rainbow, but then you have the sunset directly behind me here, too.
01:08And the reason why I chose this location, yes, the sunset is beautiful. Yes, the rainbow was an added bonus.
01:15But I chose here because Charleston is a low-lying area. This area tends to flood.
01:20I want to take this some video. This gives you an idea of what it looked like earlier here in Charleston as well.
01:25It gives you kind of a side-by-side perspective of what we saw earlier today and leading into this evening as well.
01:30Very similar atmosphere to what we saw even just a few hours ago here in this area.
01:36But again, with the low-lying region and even with the potential chance of just minimal rain,
01:40they were concerned that there could be some flooding in and around this street that we are in right now.
01:47So that was a concern.
01:48The other thing I want to show you is where we were earlier.
01:50This was live over in Folly Beach.
01:52This was about 20, 30 minutes ago when we were over in that location,
01:56about a 20-minute drive from where we are right now in downtown Charleston.
01:59It gives you kind of a drone shot, that perspective of what it looked like in Folly Beach as well.
02:04There, you're talking about rough surf, the rip currents,
02:08not nearly as strong or rough as what we saw even a few weeks ago
02:11when we were talking about Hurricane Aaron moving up the East Coast,
02:14but certainly still strong and rough enough where local officials here say,
02:19do not get in that water.
02:21There are no lifeguards here on duty over the next couple of days,
02:25and so you are swimming at your own risk if you do choose to go into the water.
02:28Throughout the day, we saw some surfers.
02:31We also saw potentially some people swimming in the water too,
02:33but again, of course, those officials saying heed what they're recommending.
02:37Do not get into the water. Avoid it if at all possible.
02:41But what a perfect way to end our time here in Charleston, South Carolina.
02:45The rainbow, you can't beat it.
02:47It's still looking out over it, and if we can,
02:49maybe we send that back to studio Jeff and Anna with this rainbow
02:53overlooking Charleston, South Carolina.
02:56Guys, you can't beat it.
02:58And that has been, again, the consensus here.
03:00People very happy that Imelda did not bring those impacts
03:03that we were initially potentially going to see here, guys.
03:06I always love to see a rainbow.
03:08Thank you for ending your evening with us with that, Allie.
03:12That's great stuff.
03:14Very nice.
03:14It pops well.
03:15You know, sometimes the camera doesn't do a rainbow justice,
03:18but that one really, really does pop.
03:19So props to our lovely videographer out there with Allie Reed.
03:23Andy Coates. He's doing the thing.
03:24Nobody does it better.
03:25It's good stuff.
03:26And always, again, nice to see a nice shot like that
03:29over historic downtown Charleston.
03:31And they may have a little bit of very minor coastal flooding
03:34tomorrow afternoon and maybe even, to some extent,
03:37Wednesday afternoon with high tide.
03:39But, again, we've seen far, far worse than that in Charleston.
