00:00Throughout its history, Nicaragua has defeated the United States imperialism.
00:04169 years after the heroic battle of San Jacinto, the people say no to Yankee intervention.
00:11Our colleague Jenny Adonja gives us the details.
00:15Nicaragua, September 14, 1856, North American filibusters attempted to conquer and invade the country,
00:24but were defeated by peasants, soldiers, and the arrow-shooting Indians of Matagalpa.
00:29It was humble people and farmers who defended this place with their bows and arrows, with courage, sovereignty, and dignity.
00:45Andres Castro, a Nicaraguan soldier, when his carbine ran out of ammunition, and he could not load his flintlock rifle, grabbed a rock,
00:57and with a stone he shot down a filibuster here.
00:59It was proven that they were not invincible, and that a group of Nicaraguans, poorly armed but full of patriotism,
01:05defeated those 300 well-armed North American filibuster invaders.
01:09We defended ourselves with stones because it took time to load the rifle, and there was a mass of filibusters.
01:23On top of that, the United States are not invulnerable.
01:27They were already defeated in Nicaragua.
01:29They were already defeated in Vietnam.
01:31They were already defeated in Korea.
01:33They were already defeated in Giron.
01:35And they will be defeated anywhere they go.
01:37The Battle of San Jacinto was not only a military triumph.
01:48It was a demonstration of dignity, unity, and sovereignty in the face of an enemy powerful in arms but weak in reason.
01:56The factor of unity is absolutely crucial, and the Battle of San Jacinto is an example of what it represented.
02:06It not only united the people of Nicaragua against the filibuster, it united Central America against the imperialist.
02:12Reason and dignity will never be less than the arrogance of those who believe that they can conquer reason through force.
02:24We have always been right, history and time have proven us right.
02:27There is a people that united to defend the territory they inhabited, which is being threatened by a foreign force.
02:40Only with morality, courage, and bravery, they were able to overcome the superiority in weaponry.
02:49It was proven that it was not weapons that made the difference, but individuals, and they can find that in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.
03:00San Jacinto remains a symbol of resistance. A battle where the humble people defeated the invader, and that today inspires us to continue defending the sovereignty of the army.
03:19against all forms of foreign domination.
03:34The value, the truth, and justice will be on our side.
03:42We fight with everything. We fight like we are, Nicaragüenses.
03:48What is the problem with the United States?
03:58All countries that aim to have their own political project, their self-determination and not depend on its dictates in international politics, automatically become enemies.
04:07And then they deny us the right to create our own democracies, originated from the will of the people, because they are the ones who elect the presidents, so that we can add our own salt, our own spices, our own seasoning, because that is democracy in our own idiosyncrasy.
04:28And then they see that as a danger.
04:38From San Jacinto, Nicaragua reminds the world with unity, dignity, and courage that the people will always prevail.
