00:00Hi, I'm Alicia Silverstone, and I'm really excited to be in the Criterion Closet.
00:07The glasses have to go on so I can see everything.
00:10Where should I start?
00:12Ooh, head jig in the angry inch.
00:16John Cameron Mitchell is amazing.
00:19He's so cool.
00:21This movie is amazing.
00:23I don't know what else to say other than I can't wait to watch this again.
00:26So look at that cover.
00:29Blow Up.
00:29Okay, I saw this Antonioni film at the New Beverly Cinema in Los Angeles.
00:37And when I saw this film, there was an intermission, and then it was going to be Zabriskie Point.
00:44And I met my husband there, my son's daddy, who I'm not with anymore, but he lives across the street.
00:52We're family forever.
00:53I love him forever.
00:54Anyway, it's a really interesting film.
00:56And I feel like, I don't know if this is really lame to say, I feel like Austin Powers was based on Blow Up.
01:03Does that resonate for anyone?
01:05Am I insane?
01:05Oh, Secrets and Lies.
01:10Timothy Spall is an amazing actor.
01:13This is a Mike Lee film.
01:14Timothy Spall is an amazing actor that I worked with on Love's Labor's Lost, this Kenneth Branagh film.
01:20Is Brenda Blythin?
01:21Yes, of course, Brenda Blythin is in this.
01:25And she's so fantastic.
01:27And this is, I can't wait to see this again.
01:29It's been so long since I saw this.
01:30But I love this film.
01:33And Timmy's my dear, dear friend still.
01:35I love him so much.
01:37He's such a brilliant actor.
01:39Anyway, this is amazing.
01:41This movie is so important to me.
01:43Smooth Talk.
01:44When I was a little person acting, I did a scene from Smooth Talk, which is kind of really disturbing in a way.
01:53Because it's, you know, very complex sexual content, I think.
01:59But I remember being so, so inspired by Laura in this film.
02:08She was so good.
02:09And I remember when I got to work on The Hideaway with Jeff Goldblum.
02:13And that was his girlfriend, Laura Dern.
02:15And I just wanted to be around her and talk to her.
02:18And she was so kind to me and had really wonderful big sister, you know, actress help in her way.
02:32Like, her nature of sharing with me her wisdom.
02:36And I really appreciated that.
02:38So, yeah, this is a really, really cool film.
02:42There's too many good movies in here.
02:43On the Waterfront.
02:46Blue.
02:46Okay, where are we going?
02:48Okay, this one.
02:50This movie, It Happened One Night.
02:52Oh, I love this movie.
02:53It's so lovely.
02:54Benicio Del Toro introduced me to this.
02:56We watched it on his little couch.
02:59Performances, the dialogue, everything about it.
03:02This is a wonderful film.
03:04Well, Paper Moon.
03:07Ryan O'Neill.
03:08I worked with Ryan O'Neill on Mismatch, a show we did together.
03:13He played my dad.
03:14He is one cheeky, sweet, funny, feisty man that we lost.
03:20But, um, what a legend.
03:23His work was so good.
03:25And this movie is so good.
03:29All about Eve.
03:31This is so good, too.
03:33There's too many movies to see.
03:35Isn't it overwhelming?
03:37I find it very overwhelming.
03:38I'll never see all the movies in this lifetime.
03:41But, boy, is that good.
03:42Look at Betty Davis.
03:43Yes.
03:43Thanks.
