00:00New York City. This is Fashion Week. Making it here takes more than talent. You need connections, clout, and cash. Until now.
00:13We send fashion experts to four cities to find the best undiscovered designers in America.
00:20The search began in Los Angeles at the Downtown Standard Hotel.
00:25If given the right fabrics, I can kick ass.
00:29You remind me of Todd Odom.
00:32Chicago was our next stop.
00:34I want a chance. I am the struggling artist. I am the underdog.
00:38Have you sold any of your work?
00:39Yeah, I've been selling stuff. I sell it out of my trunk.
00:42The search moved on to New York.
00:44It's edgy and nobody has done it.
00:46Who do you see wearing this besides yourself?
00:48New York.
00:50I think we're interested in seeing what you could do.
00:53Great. She won't be sorry.
00:55In Miami, the Fontainebleau Hilton was the end of the line.
00:59We want to go ahead and make you a finalist.
01:02Congratulations.
01:03I made it. I made it.
01:05A panel of judges met to discuss the finalists.
01:08Slinky, slinky.
01:09And narrowed it down to the 12 best.
01:11Project Runway offers these 12 unknown designers a chance to show America and the fashion world what they can do.
01:18Every week we'll give them a different challenge that will test their abilities to the limit.
01:23Hey!
01:24And the top names in the industry will be judging them.
01:26This just feels unfinished.
01:28I look at the fur and right away I'm like, I'm in Prada way.
01:32One designer will be cut every week until three remain.
01:36Those three will show their line at Olympus Fashion Week.
01:39Then one winner will be chosen.
01:41The winner will receive a spread in Elle Magazine, a mentorship with the Banana Republic design team and $100,000 to start their own line.
01:50It's a head start that money just can't buy.
01:53Given to one designer who earns it where it counts on the runway.
02:02This is a search for the next big fashion designer.
02:05It's a cutthroat business.
02:07The competition was fierce.
02:09Twelve contestants, three finalists, and one winner.
02:14Three designers will make their runway debut at Olympus Fashion Week.
02:17I plan to make it to Fashion Week.
02:19I think I'll be number one.
02:20And the winner of Project Runway will receive everything they need to start their own label.
02:24I think I deserve to win.
02:26People are gonna start getting pretty bitchy.
02:28Oh my.
02:29For these twelve contestants, Project Runway is a chance of a lifetime.
02:41The heart of fashion is New York.
02:43You know, if you plan to become a fashion designer, here would be the place.
02:48I never compromise my art.
02:49I try to satisfy myself and nobody else.
02:56I just finished school at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York.
03:01I was recognized for two years in a row in winning best collections.
03:05I've always had this love of clothes.
03:10I mean, as a child, it was just creating like these fairytale gowns, like playing dress-up.
03:15Being in high school, I definitely tried to fit in and be like a regular person.
03:22But no matter how much I tried, I still got completely teased.
03:25How are you doing?
03:26I'm Austin.
03:27Austin, Robert.
03:28Nice to meet you.
03:29Hi, Nora.
03:30Nora, how do you do?
03:31Woo!
03:32I worked in porn for an online sex website.
03:37Yes, I was making good money, but everything I did, everything I looked at, my couch, my table,
03:42my cat, my everything, was bought with dirty money.
03:46And I wanted to concentrate on designing again.
03:48My boss said, well, if you're such a great designer, well, why aren't you doing anything?
03:52And a week later, I quit, and I was like, you know what?
03:54You're right.
03:55Can you believe these motherfuckers made me unload their luggage?
04:06Hello, everybody.
04:07Welcome.
04:08Hi.
04:09You're in New York, 12 of you, the cream of the crop.
04:13We looked at hundreds of people, and you guys made it.
04:15So I want to welcome you guys to your new home.
04:17This is the Atlas New York apartment.
04:20You guys are going to be staying here for a while, some longer than others.
04:27I'm going to give you guys your keys, and then later, I'm going to meet you at Parsons School of Design.
04:32All right, let's go.
04:43Ever since I was a young girl, I always loved fashion.
04:46So I went to school for it, and now I have my own line,
04:49selling in different boutiques.
04:51People a lot of times underestimate me and how intelligent I am.
04:56I'm a costume designer.
04:57The thing I love about costume designing is designing for different artists,
05:01and Queen Latifah was one of them.
05:03On the movie set, people always say,
05:05why don't you have your line out there?
05:07So this has been, like, a dream of mine that I've always wanted to have my own line.
05:122018.
05:13Cheers.
05:14Cheers.
05:15Currently, I'm a lawyer in a prominent law firm, but I love fashion design, and it just, it makes me so happy to do it.
05:23The struggle is that I have so much to lose and so much invested in law already.
05:28But at the same time, I'd also like to be a really successful fashion designer.
05:32Hey, can you look after me? I'm so unhealthy. I'm the fattest one.
05:36I'm sharing my living space with Miss Venezuela, Audrey Hepburn, and Miss Caribbean.
05:43So they're absolute babes, and then there's me.
05:46The past ten years of my life have been completely dedicated to starting a small fashion design business based in Houston.
05:55It's been incredibly difficult.
05:57I definitely want my clothes to be more readily available throughout America.
06:05Oh, my gosh.
06:08This place is fancy.
06:10See, I could have brought my daughter with me.
06:11I am married, and I have a five-year-old daughter.
06:15I have a small business in a small town in Virginia.
06:18There is no way I would have access to the parts of the industry that Project Runway is going to afford.
06:25I feel like because I am a mom, the kitchen is really important.
06:30If we get too stressed out and we don't eat correctly, like good food and healthy food,
06:36we're not going to produce what we know we can.
06:39Number one, we have to take care of each other.
06:40We have to have our core four that we watch out for.
06:44Because you cannot care about 11 other people, but you can care about three.
06:48Wendy's great.
06:49I like to call her mom because she treats us like we're her kids, which is great.
06:53I got into fashion through my mother.
06:56She owned a hair salon, and in front of me was basically fashion.
07:00My inspiration is basically cars, sports cars like a woman.
07:04They're both sleek, sexy, and extremely dangerous.
07:08Here it is, people. Here it is.
07:14It's great. It's great.
07:17I've been designing for 12 years.
07:21I got into it because it's a family business.
07:24My parents didn't want me to get into the fashion business
07:26because the apparel business is very tough.
07:29My goal is to be a great American designer.
07:32All right, can we establish something? Who smokes? Who doesn't?
07:36I don't smoke.
07:37You smoke?
07:38Who smokes?
07:39Fashion designers smoke.
07:41Didn't you get this newsletter?
07:42I didn't know that.
07:43Honestly. I'm from L.A. We just attend.
07:46I want the world to see what I could offer to the fashion industry.
07:50In 1999, I launched my first collection.
07:54Actually, my first and only collection.
07:56But my father actually got two strokes.
08:00So, I had to basically take over the family business.
08:03It's a wedding chapel in Los Angeles, actually.
08:05Secret of life.
08:07Now, he's in excellent health, and I'm able now to follow my bliss again this year.
08:12What time did you say we had to meet her?
08:14I don't know. I was just staring at her face the whole time.
08:17I'm kidding.
08:19We are at Parsons School of Design.
08:31This will be your working space, and this is Tim Gunn.
08:35He's the head of the fashion program here.
08:38He will take care of you, but he will not solve your problems.
08:41Welcome, everyone. I'm very proud to have you here at Parsons.
08:44You will be working in the shadow of many illustrious alumni,
08:47including Donna Karan, Marc Jacobs, Narcisa Rodriguez, Tom Ford.
08:52Some of you, certainly one of you, will be joining that distinguished company at the end of the challenges of Project Runway.
08:58So welcome. We're thrilled to have you here.
09:01Let's have a look.
09:05This is where the magic happens.
09:07The fact that it's just been held at Parsons is huge, and you do think your name could be listed next to all the great designers that have come from here.
09:16Okay, everyone. This is your workspace. Over here, you'll find the Banana Republic accessories wall.
09:23And in the corner are bolts of cotton, the official fabric of Project Runway.
09:26Okay, let's go downstairs. Let's see the runway. Let's take a look where your fate will be decided.
09:41Designers, this is where the judging and elimination will take place.
09:44The first challenge is about innovation, and we will judge you on that.
09:51I want you to design a sexy, glamorous dress for a night out in town.
09:57Tim will take you to a store where all the famous designers go.
10:02And you cannot start work on this challenge until your shopping trip tomorrow.
10:06This is where your garments will be shown off. And they will be shown off by beautiful models.
10:16Models are very crucial because a model can make or break your outfit.
10:21So let's bring out the models.
10:25Alison, Audrey, Aaron.
10:29The models, you know, sell the dress. You know, you need a girl who is as passionate about winning as you are.
10:42I will choose your names randomly, and then you can choose your model.
10:47Austin.
10:49Olga.
10:51Robert.
10:52I pick Melissa.
10:54Alexandra.
10:55Julia.
10:57I picked my model, Julia, because she's the tallest and I think the taller the better.
11:02Vanessa.
11:04I choose Joy.
11:05Joy it is.
11:07Mario.
11:08Aaron.
11:10Kara.
11:13Morgan.
11:15Next one is Kevin.
11:17Martinique.
11:22Daniel.
11:23Mary, you're hired.
11:27Wendy.
11:28Heidi.
11:29Yes.
11:30I choose Josiane.
11:31Okay.
11:36I think I know who I choose.
11:41You're a star.
11:42Thanks.
11:45I had a couple of first choices, but Audrey, she's a gorgeous girl and I think she's going to look really great.
11:51You will have the chance to see our models very soon again.
11:55And that will be tonight, because I'm going to host a little party for you guys tonight.
12:00I thought it was a good idea to start it off nice.
12:06So you guys can relax a little bit tonight and have some fun.
12:09Because from now on, it will get tough.
12:10You have the most gorgeous hair.
12:11Boy, look at you.
12:12All the models were there and it was really all of the designers' first chance to really interact with the models that they'd chosen.
12:24You worked with Queen Latifah and Eve.
12:25I got the low down on you guys.
12:26I can't wait until the bitch moments start coming in.
12:28That's going to be my favorite to be like, bitch has lost her mind.
12:29Ha, bitch is crazy.
12:30Ha, ha.
12:31The models, they're just all just all of the models.
12:32I'm going to be like, bitch is crazy.
12:33Ha, ha.
12:34Ha, ha.
12:35Ha, ha.

12:53The models, they're just all breathtaking to me.
12:55I think they're all really beautiful girls.
12:57Especially Olga.
12:58That chick is like sex on legs.
12:59She's hot.
13:00The designers want to see the girls walk, so yeah, why don't we?
13:03Right?
13:04Ha, ha, ha.
13:05Ha, ha.
13:06Ha, ha.

13:52It's Project Runway!
13:53Project Runway!
14:00Coming up on Project Runway.
14:02Are you ready for your first challenge?
14:06This is where we're going to shop.
14:08For the first time, I felt fear.
14:18We met Tim in the morning and he said,
14:20let's go shopping.
14:22Our first challenge was to design something glamorous
14:25and sexy for a night out on the town.
14:27We sort of headed in the direction
14:29of the garment district fabric stores
14:31and then we kept going uptown.
14:35I was asking people who lived in New York,
14:36I'm like, have you ever been to any fabric stores up here?
14:42This is our destination.
14:48The supermarkets.
14:50Indeed.
14:51We show up at this grocery store
14:53and for the first time, I felt fear.
14:57I thought we were going to be at this amazing fabric store
15:00with all these, like, couture fabrics.
15:02Welcome to Gristini's, the site of your first challenge.
15:05In Heidi's words yesterday,
15:07this challenge is about creating a glamorous outfit
15:10for evening and these are your supplies.
15:14Everything that you will use to design and fabricate this challenge
15:21must be purchased here.
15:23We're not making any other stops.
15:24This is why we're calling this challenge innovation.
15:28You must innovate.
15:29So be as unconventional as you can be in your thinking
15:32and make it work here.
15:34You will each have $50 in this envelope
15:37and you will have one hour.
15:39Okay, show us what you've got.
15:41I shop every day of my life.
15:43I've never approached a grocery store with fear.
15:45I don't know what to do.
15:46Crazy, though.
15:57I went off around the supermarket with an open mind,
15:59ruling out the obvious.
16:01No melons or anything that might go soggy.
16:04Why do they make, like, home interior stuff
16:06in the s**t-ass colors?
16:10I'm done.
16:11This is what I'm getting.
16:12This is all I need.
16:13Maybe if I have money left over,
16:14I'll get some extra of this just in case.
16:17But, yeah, I already have the whole thing planned out.
16:20What's the q-tips for?
16:22For me.
16:23I didn't bring any.
16:28I believe that all these materials
16:30have their own beautiful, spiritual quality.
16:34So what are we gonna do?
16:39Do you have any ribbon?
16:42I took every last drop of ribbon.
16:44I know some other people are looking for it,
16:46but I just took everything.
16:51My main ingredient are the corn husks.
16:55Which, if you think about it,
16:55is really, like, nature's fabric.
16:57It's like a fiber.
16:59It even has, like, a weft and a warp to it, almost.
17:04I saw this lounge chair up there, and I said,
17:06oh, my God, that blue lounge chair is freaking fabulous.
17:11How much are these a piece?
17:12Do you know?
17:13What do I mean?
17:15I got some silver sparkly paper, and I was like,
17:17oh, that's awesome.
17:18I can totally use that.
17:19And then I started looking around for things
17:21that would kind of coordinate with it.
17:23Project Runway, you have five minutes.
17:28Attention, runway shoppers.
17:31I'm having them right now.
17:34Project Runway, this is it.
17:37Check out.
17:38You have 50 for feet.
17:4050 cents.
17:43I need 50 cents.
17:45Can I break this in half and then pay for half?
17:47Look.
17:49I'm a serious designer, and I like serious challenges.
17:52This design project, I feel it's going to be no sweat.
18:02Hey, designers.
18:03Do you have from now until midnight tonight?
18:05Tomorrow, you'll have a few hours before the runway judging.
18:09Innovate, and go for it, OK?
18:13OK, my fish is getting stinky.
18:14Do you have a freezer here?
18:16Is it kind of?
18:17Yes, I got fish.
18:21I grabbed a bunch of, like, brown pantyhose and brown socks,
18:25and I'm going to do a really pretty dress.
18:31I picked some interesting things.
18:32I mean, I picked mop heads, which I'm going to plan to make,
18:34like, a Hulu skirt, and I bought falafel bread to make,
18:38like, a corset top.
18:41I was basically freaking out.
18:42I'm like, oh, no.
18:43What am I going to do?
18:44I have nothing but, like, this corn husk and, like,
18:46a potato chip bag.
18:47This is the very first competition.
18:48I'm going to, like, screw it for myself.
18:52My idea was to make this carnival thing.
18:55I'm really using extremely bizarre materials.
18:58I don't know how I'm actually going to make it.
19:06There.
19:07Done.
19:10Now, Mario, shower curtain, and I'm done.
19:14I'm done already.
19:15I just, like, draped it around, like, tied it together,
19:18and that's it.
19:19It's like, whatever.
19:20Come on.
19:20You have a long time still.
19:23Mario is a rebel here.
19:24He's just, I don't care.
19:25I'm doing this.
19:26I'm going to wrap the fabric.
19:29We were all working.
19:30Mario's, like, sitting on the table, sleeping,
19:33taking cigarette breaks.
19:34He doesn't care.
19:35That's his style.
19:36It's very amateurish with no true direction
19:40and no sense of purpose or style.
19:42Is Mario smarter than me because he bought a shower curtain
19:45and he made it in 15 minutes, or is he looking
19:49for the easy way out?
19:54What is wrong with you?
19:56Don't try this at home, folks.
19:58It takes trained professionals to take one-inch strips
20:01of tin foil and bind a jacket.
20:06Daniel's approach is so, like, Bob Barker.
20:10What do we have next?
20:11We have a fashion challenge, and it's going to be great.
20:14Like, ugh, which makes me, like, want to leave the room.
20:20So what's going on with your design?
20:22Creatively, I'm fine, but mentally, man,
20:26are you feeling the cut-throat-ness of it in there?
20:30Yeah.
20:34It's not pushing through because it's not fabric.
20:37I've been, like, tugging it through.
20:39Half the day had been spent fussing with this weaving.
20:45I know I'm a good designer, and I can do it,
20:47but am I an idiot for picking these, like, corn husks?
20:51Now, to keep that together, are you just going to use, like,
20:53clear tape on one side?
20:54I might just totally redo this.
20:56Austin.
20:57Austin.
20:58No, Austin, you just, like, spent hours on it.
21:00Austin.
21:01I know, but it doesn't look good.
21:02OK, you know why?
21:03You just don't like it right now because, look,
21:04you have so much around it, and it's not clean.
21:07Yeah, but first of all, I'd have to, like,
21:08weave an even bigger piece to make a whole bodice.
21:12I do tend to, like, get myself into these, like,
21:15over-elaborate projects, and end up, like, you know,
21:18screwing myself in the end.
21:24Coming up on the Project Runway.
21:26Today is the D-Day.
21:27I know.
21:27Today is the funeral.
21:28Everybody else's model was dressed,
21:30and my model's not here.
21:32If she doesn't come, that would be the fun to me.
21:33Go to the street and go get a model.
21:35We were given a challenge to make a sexy outfit
21:49for a night on the town.
21:51I used butcher paper for the jacket, but it was a great color.
21:54It reminded me of a suede or even, like, a taffeta.
21:58I felt that it was stylish compared to Star.
22:02I don't think that she has enough experience as a designer
22:04to realize that you need style.
22:08I'm really terrified that I'm going to be the one to go home
22:11just because my dress is really gaudy,
22:14and I'm feeling like it's pretty disgusting.
22:23How is everyone?
22:24I came back.
22:25Hey!
22:26How are you doing?
22:27Good.
22:28What's happening with the bus line?
22:30Um, well, right here, it's going to be painted.
22:34Oh.
22:35But that's why I got this.
22:37On the model?
22:38Yes.
22:39OK.
22:39Put it on the model.
22:40Does she know?
22:41No.
22:42What's going on, Vanessa?
22:44I got so excited about putting all this black stuff
22:47everywhere that I kind of lost the shape.
22:51Does it need to be full length?
22:53No, but I've just done all this work on it.
22:56I know, but sometimes you have to let it go.
23:00My heart just started to study.
23:03I really just didn't want to look stupid on the runway.
23:07Maybe I'll make some little flowers or something.
23:10You just have a lot of work to do.
23:12I know.
23:12Go on.
23:13Go and see the next person.
23:13Let me finish.
23:14OK.
23:17Daniel, OK, you've made great progress.
23:19Thank you, Tim.
23:20Great progress.
23:22I'm imbuing the spirits of Picasso and Marcel Duchamp.
23:26My theory is that anyone could be elegant at any time
23:29if they just apply themselves.
23:30And basically applying themselves means to stop thinking,
23:33find the purity in the design and the garment.
23:36This is seduction about Daniel.
23:38When you're within about three feet of him,
23:40you get into his orbit and you believe.
23:43But then when you step back and look at what he's done,
23:45you ask yourself, what is that?
23:47Is this looking too much like butcher paper?
23:49It is butcher paper.
23:51It can't be helped.
23:52So I hate to cut this short, Tim, but I got to get back to it.
23:56Thank you so much.
23:57All right.
23:58I love how Daniel just brushed Tim off saying that, listen,
24:00Tim, I got to get back to work, man.
24:02You know, I'm sorry.
24:03You know, you wasted my time.
24:06Tim was leaving kind of like scratching his head.
24:08Like, what just happened?
24:09I mean, I think he was moving.
24:10He was in shock himself, too.
24:12All right.
24:12Everyone, just one last thing.
24:17At midnight, everybody out.
24:24Good night.
24:24Thanks.
24:34I am feeling the race against time now, yes.
24:42It's definitely meant to be a placemat and not a garment.
24:55Luckily, tomorrow we have a couple hours, which is, I think,
24:58just the amount of time I'll need to pull it all together.
25:05Oh, what a night.
25:18Since I've been here, I've had this opportunity to just really think about what I'm doing with my life.
25:26I mean, I certainly have a lot of abilities as a lawyer, but I'm learning so much and
25:30really would like to stay as long as possible.
25:35I would say stars, people spit.
25:37People have been saying, she's going to be a little girl.
25:40I don't know.
25:43I know someone's going home today.
25:45It makes me very, very sad.
25:49You notice how I'm wearing all black?
25:52Yeah.
25:53Today is the D-Day.
25:54I know.
25:55Today is the funeral.
25:56We'll be going home in a garment bag.
25:59Not us.
26:06Okay, everyone.
26:06We have exactly two hours to achieve a lot.
26:10We're going to be bringing your models in.
26:12You're going to be doing a fitting with the model.
26:14And then you're going to be tweaking and refining and doing whatever you need to do to your garment.
26:19Your models will go to the L'Oreal hair and makeup rooms to get prepped for the show.
26:24Okay.
26:26Great.
26:26Make it work.
26:29The morning of was pretty hectic.
26:35Everybody's running around doing their own thing.
26:38It's a lot of pressure.
26:40I'm not going home today.
26:42You want to go home?
26:42No.
26:43You don't want to go home, do you?
26:44We ain't going home.
26:44Austin, having not refrigerated this produce, the corn husk had shrunk.
26:52They were now corn chips.
26:53At least there isn't any additional shrinkage.
26:57I was definitely worried.
27:03I had a lot of things to work out.
27:06I just didn't know how I was going to finish it.
27:10How are you feeling?
27:12That feels fine, yeah.
27:15It's coming.
27:15It's coming.
27:16It's coming.
27:17Oh, come on.
27:18Everybody's been working with their models for about half an hour now and my model's not here.
27:24She's being hand painted, so I need time to do the hand painting.
27:30I was really worried because I didn't know if I was going to have a model.
27:34If she doesn't come, that would be the most ingenious thing to do.
27:38I think, go for it.
27:40I'll be back.
28:00I didn't know if I was going to have a model.
28:02You know, they were trying to call Morgan.
28:04They just couldn't reach her.
28:08I don't know really what I'm doing.
28:11That'd be cute.
28:13Excuse me, have you ever thought of modeling?
28:16No, I haven't.
28:21Heidi Plum's going to be there.
28:22Do you know who Heidi Plum is?
28:23The supermodel?
28:24Yeah, I do.
28:27What do you think?
28:28No.
28:29Okay.
28:30Um, my mother is out of town, and she usually wakes me up.
28:43Morgan?
28:44Yeah.
28:44This is really bad.
28:46I know.
28:47Really bad.
28:48And poor Kara has crashed and burned.
28:50She's out on the street, literally looking for a model.
28:56Come here.
28:56Morgan arrived.
29:04Okay.
29:04My agency just dropped me.
29:08Why?
29:09Because you're late?
29:15Morgan?
29:16I'm so sorry, dear.
29:20Everything's going to be fine.
29:21Let's get you some coffee.
29:23Let's get you cleaned up.
29:24Morgan, sweet girl, but it's tragic.
29:27It's not what I envisioned.
29:34It's much better.
29:35Uh, I think it's a killer dress.
29:41He's nice.
29:42He has an endearing story, but damn it.
29:44He is playing to the camera stuff and kissing ass.
29:48Like, he should be kissing our asses.
29:51Now, um, sweet voice.
30:02All right, everybody.
30:03Here we go.
30:12Welcome to the runway, where your first challenge will be judged.
30:18Everyone knows that the fashion business is ruthless.
30:22One day you're in, and the next day you're out.
30:26Today, one designer will be selected as the winner of this challenge.
30:30And one of you will be out.
30:34This week's challenge was about innovation.
30:39And we will judge you on your use of unconventional materials.
30:44Now, let's meet the judges.
30:46We have Michael Kors, who's one of the most influential designers in America.
30:51Nina Garcia is the fashion director for the top-selling Elle magazine.
31:01Our guest judge for today is Patricia Field.
31:03We all know her from dressing the beautiful girls on Sex and the City.
31:07We will be scoring your designs as they come down the runway.
31:12Let's start the show.
31:15My corn dress started to shrivel and dry up, and it didn't look very good.
31:34I am nervous that I may be eliminated.
31:48The stakes for me are huge, because if I do well, I am going to have a better chance of
32:00realizing my dream of being a real fashion designer who can really deliver the goods on all levels.
32:07I actually didn't watch the judges when my model walks, so I have no idea how they responded to it.
32:20I didn't have any confidence in myself or in my design.
32:23If these people remotely have an eye for creativity, then they won't eliminate me.
32:45When it comes down to it, it's who can walk the best.
33:07And Morgan can walk, regardless if she's late or tragic or whatever's going on in her life, she can walk.
33:24I'm not out to flash the judges.
33:40I want to wow them with great concept, design, you know, not like glitter on the runway.
33:46I had innovation in the cut of the jacket.
33:55I had innovation in tailoring the butcher paper.
33:58I know the designs of Michael Kors.
34:00I read Elle magazine a lot.
34:01I know what they're looking for.
34:16I feel really confident with the dress.
34:26It's a look that I wanted to go for.
34:29And seriously, I don't care if I get eliminated.
34:32I don't compromise my art.
34:34I want to ask all 12 designers to please come on the stage.
34:52We've tallied your scores.
35:02If I say your name, I want you to please step forward.
35:08Kevin.
35:12Alexandra.
35:16The judges are looking up at you, and you have no idea how they voted, and it is excruciating.
35:38I had a prediction of who I thought was going to go, so I was in that group, and I'm like, ah, f***.
35:43None of you are out.
35:46Your scores have qualified you to stay in for the next challenge.
35:51You may leave the runway.
35:54When they said, you know, you're safe for the next round, you couldn't see it.
35:59But I just wanted to jump off the stage and say, you know, just scream.
36:03The six of you that remain had the highest and the lowest scores.
36:08We will ask you questions on your designs.
36:13The judges will deliberate, and one of you will be named the winner.
36:18The winner will have immunity for the next challenge and cannot be eliminated next week.
36:24And one of you will be out.
36:28I'm just so nervous, I can't even think.
36:30There I was, probably in the three of the worst category.
36:37Just the thought of being the first ones at home really was horrible.
36:42The six of you represent the best and the worst.
36:58Let's bring back your models.
37:05Patricia, do you want to start?
37:06Austin, you know, you're a corn dress.
37:10Did you boil the corn leaves and sculpt them from a soft condition?
37:16Basically, I shocked all the fresh corn and I put it together fresh.
37:21It dried out.
37:23I'm hoping, I'm praying, the judges will take into consideration that I use something organic.
37:31Wendy, what were you thinking? Because I see very little clothes.
37:37I met my model and she said she was from Brazil.
37:42All right, I get it. So you were going to Rio.
37:44I just wish I would have seen more clothes.
37:50And Vanessa, I wanted to ask you about your inspiration.
37:54My inspiration was Cajun, but it doesn't look like Cajun.
37:57Because it's supposed to have many lobsters.
38:00What are they called?
38:01Crawfish, right.
38:02And they were going to be trapped in the net, but it really didn't need them.
38:06So, do you wear black a lot?
38:08I love black.
38:08Yeah?
38:09Poor women love black.
38:10You know, even though I'm sitting here wearing black, you're wearing black,
38:13I would have loved to have seen more color.
38:15Somehow, the crawfish, I have a feeling, would have not smelled fabulously,
38:20but they really would have done something.
38:21Daniel, can we see what is underneath the dress?
38:25Please, dear.
38:29This jacket, I made a pattern first because I only had a limited amount of this butcher paper,
38:33which I got for free from the store.
38:35And it took me a long time to make this binding, which is a tin foil.
38:39And I tried to give it the best treatment that I could for the amount of time that we had.
38:42Nora, I think you did an amazing job.
38:47I think it's interesting.
38:48It's innovative.
38:50And at the same time, it's actually kind of wearable.
38:55Yeah, I think it's great.
38:56I think it's really, it's terrific.
38:58We have not heard so much about your star.
39:00Do you want to explain a little bit what you were thinking?
39:03My initial inspiration was an ironing board cover, which is this part here.
39:10And I liked the color.
39:12And then I really like this wrapping paper, especially when it's crinkled.
39:19I don't really know how wearable it is.
39:24I want to ask all the designers and models to please leave the stage.
39:28I'm going to have a little chat with my judges.
39:37What's the worst thing?
39:38What are you worried about the most?
39:40Going home.
39:40Going home.
39:42Going home.
39:43Okay.
39:44So I'm not going to go home.
39:47A lot of them, they started adding things onto things onto things.
39:52It was like one of these.
39:53Yeah, rather than one concept.
39:55Exactly.
39:56The bikini, the candy.
39:58There were no clothes.
39:59There was no clothes.
39:59That's true.
40:00That's my pet peeve.
40:01There are no clothes.
40:01But it was happy.
40:02When I got to Daniel, I was just like, oh my god.
40:05Like garbage bag couture again.
40:07It was like, what's the easiest thing and boring thing I could do?
40:10I didn't like stars either.
40:12I think it was like totally expected.
40:14Get some tin foil.
40:15Tin foil and make a party dress.
40:16It's like the garbage bag dress.
40:18In fashion, it's all about what's in and what's out.
40:38And we have made our decision.
40:39Vanessa, you're in.
40:46You can leave the runway.
40:52Nora, you're in.
40:53Wendy, you're in.
41:02You can leave the runway.
41:04There are three of you left.
41:12One of you will be the winner.
41:14And one of you will be out.
41:22But the winner is Austin.
41:25To choose corn husks, show true innovation.
41:32Thank you all.
41:33Thank you very, very much.
41:36Austin, that means that you're safe for the next challenge.
41:39It was really wonderful.
41:40Probably, you know, one of my most wonderful moments of my life.
41:44You can leave the runway.
41:47Daniel and Star, one of you must go.
42:06Daniel, we felt you didn't challenge yourself enough.
42:11Your choice of materials and design were far too simple.
42:15Star, you weren't innovative enough with your materials or design.
42:21You need to show us a better concept.
42:25Star, you are still in.
42:30But you just barely made it.
42:36You can leave the runway.
42:37And that means Daniel is out.
42:48Alfie does end.
42:49Good luck.
42:56I'm pretty, pretty shocked.
42:58Didn't expect that.
42:59I wish you the very best.
43:05You too.
43:10Oh well.
43:11I was disappointed.
43:14But if you believe in theatrics, then there are a lot of designers for you to choose from.
43:20However, you know, if you believe in honor, dignity, integrity, if you believe in artistic
43:26credence, and if you believe in an artistic honesty, and if you believe in following your bliss, then I'm Daniel Franco.
43:34And I like to wish you bliss.
43:46Next on Project Runway.
43:47Are you all ready for your next challenge?
43:49I'm not amused by this.
43:51You don't think I'm worthy of you being nice to me?
43:54It's all about envy.
43:55People are starting to get paranoid and delusional.
43:58I'm asking you, that's all.
43:59You're an asswife.
44:00I didn't take the bitches' die.
44:04Get your varmint and meet me outside.
44:07We weren't told where we were being taken.
44:09All right, let's let him in.
44:10Who wants to talk to Jesus?
44:12I was horrified.
44:13I don't like my weaknesses to be on display.
44:15I was experiencing a lot of envy.
44:18There are 11 of you now.
44:19This evening, there will be 10.
44:21Your work looks a little unfinished.
44:24I have not cried like that in years.
44:26Fashion can be a real bitch sometimes.
44:30Visit ProjectRunway.com to learn more about the fashions you've seen on today's show.
44:59We'll see you then.
45:00You are great TV to be back.
45:02It's all about two hours before finishing up your story.
45:05You're cold, it's always overseas.
45:06And I know you're feeling strong.
45:08You'll be冷 up to your heart soon.
45:09Listen to my wife coming off.
45:10Listen to my love for watching one hour.
45:11You're so excited, why don't you?
45:14Really?
45:15I'm gone.
45:16That's all I umaessiam.
45:16I'm guessing, how don't you find me?
45:18That's all I am.
45:18Took all I know of.
45:20I haven't seen for you right now.
45:21You
