00:01So, Leeds Rhinos season is over and a year of progress hasn't ended the way everyone hoped it would, or certainly everyone associated with the club hoped it would.
00:12Beaten 16-14 by St Helens, that's the fourth defeat in five games against Saints this season and it came in the most heartbreaking of circumstances.
00:23Leeds were ahead when the Hooter sounded, Saints were awarded a penalty in the very last seconds, kicked to touch and had one last Hail Mary play and to their credit they scored from it.
00:38Leeds were one tackle away from a trip to Hull KR in the semi-finals next week, they couldn't make that tackle and they were beaten and left absolutely shattered.
00:49The players, coaching, staff, fans, everybody absolutely heartbroken by the way this season has ended.
00:57Highly contentious, in my opinion, game.
01:00John Benison scored a late try to get Saints back in the contest which was awarded by video referee Chris Kendall.
01:09He decided there was overwhelming evidence to overrule the on-field decision and to me it didn't look like a try.
01:15Leeds also had one ruled out on the Saints-Captain's Challenge by Chris Kendall earlier in the game.
01:23Again, I thought harshly.
01:26I also thought Curtis Surinan could have been shown a card in the final quarter for a foul on James McDonnell.
01:34Probably wasn't.
01:36Those things sometimes go for you, but when they go against you in games like this it hurts all the more.
01:42So, all that said, Leeds obviously should have found a way to close the game out.
01:48I don't think you can quibble too much about their performance.
01:52They gave it absolutely everything.
01:54Just couldn't quite find the winning try in the second half.
01:59If they'd scored again I think they'd have gone to win the game, but they just couldn't go over the line.
02:04Some spirited defence from St Helens and they know how to frustrate Leeds and how to thwart Leeds and how to beat Leeds.
02:13Unfortunately, they've done it yet again.
02:16So, I think if anything positive comes out for it, Leeds have got huge motivation now for the off-season and pre-season.
02:25I think it's a little bit too early to think about that.
02:28But I think they'll be keeping this fresh in their minds throughout the hard months of training that'll lie ahead.
02:34And they'll have to be a bit better next year.
02:37I don't think they've been far off this season.
02:39It's been a really positive season, much improved but just not quite good enough right at the end.
