YEP rugby league writer Peter Smith gives his thoughts on Leeds Rhinos' defeat at Warrington Wolves.
Transcript
00:00Disappointing night here at the Helen Will Jones Stadium for Leeds. I know they've been beaten 30 points to 18 by Warrington.
00:09The score didn't tell the entire story of the game really, considering it was 5 tries to 4.
00:16But Rhys Martin hadn't packed his kicking boots unfortunately for Leeds.
00:22They were left at Tarrou 5 disastrous minutes at the start of the game and 5 disastrous minutes just before half-time.
00:305 minutes gone they were 12-0 down and you could probably have got long odds on Warrington only finishing with 30.
00:37Leeds fought back, it was 12-4 just coming up to half-time but then Warrington scored 2 more back-to-back tries.
00:45I think they'd have been happy to go in at 12-4 down but as it turned out they were 24-4 down and that was too much for the mountain to climb.
00:52There wasn't much between it besides in the second half I thought Leeds played some good stuff at times, they just didn't play well enough for long enough.
00:59So frustrating is probably the best way to describe this.
01:04Some individuals did okay, I thought James McDonnelly gave some penalties away but he worked really hard, made a try saving tackle, a couple of good runs.
01:12There were some nice touches from Sam Ellis at times although he conceded a costly penalty.
01:18I thought 19-year-old centre Len McCormack had a good game, he scored a well-taken try but unfortunately was injured in the process and had to go off.
01:27Shev Walker's just in his press conference and said that there is a team in there and there certainly is.
01:33They just need to cut out the errors and cut out the penalties and there'll be something to work with.
01:37Brad Arthur the new coach was here tonight, it'll be interesting to see what he makes of it.
01:41I think he'll feel that without having to do anything too drastic he can get this side performing better than it is at the moment.
