The Putrajaya monorail bridge, which has been abandoned for over 20 years, will be repurposed as a pedestrian walkway and cycling path starting January 2026, says Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Federal Territories) Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa.

She also directed authorities to revitalise the Moroccan Pavilion at the Botanical Gardens under the “Baukultur” concept to attract more visitors and boost the local economy.

00:07a new lease of life as a pedestrian walkway and cycling path starting January 2026.
00:13Minister in the Prime Minister's Department, Federal Territories, Datuk Sri Dr. Zaliha Mustafa said,
00:19repurposing the 200-meter bridge was among the most common suggestions she received since assuming her portfolio.
00:26She expressed hope that the bridge will soon become a popular attraction for tourists to enjoy the stunning views of Putrajaya Lake.
00:33A total of 15 million ringgit has been allocated for the upgrade project.
00:38Due to its original load capacity, which was designed for a monorail system, the bridge will be limited to bicycles and pedestrians.
00:45Separately, Dr. Zaliha said she had directed the Federal Territories Department and Putrajaya Corporation
00:53to explore new ways to enhance the Moroccan pavilion at the Botanical Gardens in Precinct 1
00:59without altering its existing structure.
