00:29:00I'm Rich, I'm your pastor.
00:29:04And I'm thankful for the opportunity to be here with you today.
00:29:09I'm thankful to serve you and to teach you today.
00:29:14The passage here today talks about the ministry of reconciliation.
00:29:21As we were seeking the Lord many years ago about what we were going to call this ministry.
00:29:31Because this ministry has been through a couple of changes.
00:29:34It used to be, um, it used to be, um, a Baptist ministry.
00:29:44And then it left the Baptist church because they were, they became inconsistent with us.
00:29:49And so we left.
00:29:52And when we did that, it opened the opportunity for ministry to other denominations.
00:30:02And we joined with, um, people who believe in Wesleyan holiness.
00:30:10And, um, namely Nazarenes.
00:30:13Uh, we blended with some Episcopalians, uh, Christian Church Disciples of Christ.
00:30:20Um, I always forget one of them.
00:30:26The Baptist, of course, some stayed with us even though we had separated ourselves from our association.
00:30:34Um, let's see.
00:30:36We had Baptists in there.
00:30:37We had Nazarenes in there.
00:30:38We had, um, Christian Church Disciples of Christ.
00:30:44We had Episcopalians in there.
00:30:54And Methodists.
00:30:55And there were Methodists.
00:30:56And we got all of those together.
00:31:00And we became a denomination.
00:31:03And we said, what is our key goal?
00:31:11What is our key goal as ambassadors, as people who are carrying the message of Jesus Christ?
00:31:19And carrying the message so that they know that it's not us trying to control,
00:31:24but it is the message of Christ that we're bringing to them.
00:31:28And we were praying over it and prayed over it for several weeks, several days, several months even.
00:31:35And one day we opened our Bible, our Bibles in church.
00:31:41And somebody read the passage that I'm going to share with you today.
00:31:45Um, and in doing that, we learned what it meant to be an ambassador.
00:31:53And what we want you to understand today in the Ministry of Reconciliation,
00:32:02and the topic today, our title is called, We Are Ambassadors.
00:32:07Um, we want you to see that this letter to Paul, from Paul to the people,
00:32:14is full of a profound truth that we are the co-workers of God.
00:32:20We are the ambassadors of Christ.
00:32:22And this message explores that role, okay?
00:32:27What does it mean to be a representation, be the representation of God's kingdom on earth?
00:32:36It's an interesting point in light of our current, um,
00:32:41rapture hoax that just recently happened.
00:32:46So we'll talk about that in a little bit more detail.
00:32:50But above all things that we talk about,
00:32:54the job of an ambassador of Christ, of a Christian, a person who follows Jesus Christ,
00:32:59is to carry the message of reconciliation.
00:33:03What is that?
00:33:03That God has made a way of peace and forgiveness with humanity through Jesus Christ, who is Lord.
00:33:18And we are called to invite others to walk in that reconciliation.
00:33:23And into those steps of peace with God.
00:33:29So as we pray, let's bow our heads and pray.
00:33:34Jesus, we thank you for your great commission.
00:33:41We thank you that we are ambassadors of Christ.
00:33:46We ask, Lord, that you would bless the reading of your word.
00:33:50We bless the words of this mouth and the meditation of all our hearts bound together as one church,
00:33:56here and abroad, be ever pleasing to you in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord.
00:34:04Amen.
00:34:05I want you to begin reading at 2 Corinthians chapter 5.
00:34:10That's not the first book of Corinthians.
00:34:12It's the second book of Corinthians.
00:34:15Chapter 5.
00:34:16And down here in verse 17, toward the end of the chapter.
00:34:20And I'll read through the end of the chapter.
00:34:22And all things are of God who has reconciled us.
00:34:52To himself by Jesus Christ.
00:34:55And has given to us the ministry of reconciliation.
00:35:08To this witness that God has in Christ.
00:35:16That God was in Christ reconciling the world to himself.
00:35:22Not imputing our trespasses.
00:35:27Not giving our trespasses once again to us.
00:35:37And has committed to us the word of reconciliation.
00:35:48Which means we preach the gospel of Christ.
00:35:52The good news of Christ that brings people to peace with God.
00:35:56Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ.
00:36:05As though God did beseech you by us.
00:36:11We pray you in Christ stead.
00:36:17Be reconciled to God.
00:36:20For God has made him who knew no sin.
00:36:25That is Jesus.
00:36:28To be sin for us.
00:36:31So that we might be made the righteousness of God.
00:36:36In him.
00:36:38In Jesus Christ.
00:36:39May the Lord bless the reading of his word.
00:36:48Faith beyond the walls.
00:36:49We've been talking about what is faith beyond the walls.
00:36:52We begin with the faith beyond the walls begins with a call to go.
00:36:57To go beyond the walls.
00:36:59Faith is not a church building.
00:37:03Faith does not mean when we're going to practice our faith.
00:37:06We run to a building and we practice our faith.
00:37:09And we leave unchanged.
00:37:11As though we've been to a secret society.
00:37:14No.
00:37:15Faith goes beyond those walls.
00:37:19Faith goes beyond those walls.
00:37:24So we are called to carry that message to the people.
00:37:28The second thing that comes into mind is the next message in the series.
00:37:35Which is you are the temple.
00:37:38You are the temple.
00:37:40You are the church of Jesus Christ.
00:37:43You the person.
00:37:45So where you are.
00:37:46If you are in Christ.
00:37:47If you committed your life to Jesus Christ.
00:37:50You are the church.
00:37:56The next message after that.
00:37:58Was the message.
00:38:01That you are salt and light.
00:38:05You are salt and light.
00:38:08What does salt do?
00:38:09Salt preserves.
00:38:10Salt cures.
00:38:12Salt makes things taste better.
00:38:17And sometimes it's bitter.
00:38:30Sometimes it's sweet.
00:38:35But a little bit of salt makes everything okay.
00:38:38Just a little bit.
00:38:42And light.
00:38:42What does light do?
00:38:43Light dispels darkness.
00:38:44And that's what you are.
00:38:52Don't hide your light.
00:38:56That's that message.
00:38:57Then it talks about ministry.
00:38:59And it talks about ministering the gospel.
00:39:03And how did we talk about ministering the gospel?
00:39:05We talked about that by looking at the Good Samaritan.
00:39:08We talked about that by looking at the Good Samaritan.
00:39:19Don't be like those holier than thou priests walking around and crossing the street from situations that are uncomfortable.
00:39:28But approach those situations that may take you outside of your comfort zone and minister to the best of your ability and find ways to make sure that those needs of that person are met and that you have ministered the kingdom of God to them.
00:39:46And now we talk about because we are ambassadors.
00:39:51It is our responsibility.
00:39:53We represent the kingdom of God.
00:39:56And this is interesting.
00:39:58We represent the kingdom of God on earth.
00:40:00Now, one of the things you want to think about is the biblical view is that heaven and earth, not up there and down here, they are present right here, right now.
00:40:18The difference between heaven and earth is the difference between I believe in Jesus or I don't.
00:40:43The kingdom of God is here and present now.
00:40:48See, we don't believe in a millennial view.
00:40:56We're called a millennial.
00:40:58Why?
00:40:58Because we believe a couple of things.
00:41:00Number one, the Bible says that Christians are going to go through a trial and we're going to go through a persecution and we're going to go through trouble and we're going to go through all these things.
00:41:10And God's not going to snatch us out at the last minute to save us from a little persecution.
00:41:15But through that persecution, he's going to weed out those that are fake and phony.
00:41:26So that when we come out on the other side, he can say, well done, good and faithful servant.
00:41:32Come and enter into your rest.
00:41:35Heaven is literally a step away.
00:41:50It is not up there.
00:41:52It's not to be caught out of this.
00:41:54It's because we are supposed to go through this.
00:41:58Time, we are supposed to go through a period of time where we will be tried and we will be tested.
00:42:09And those of us who persevere through that test will come out on the other side and enter into the kingdom of God.
00:42:18So when Jesus returns, he has a kingdom to come to.
00:42:25So, Christian, I want you to think for a minute.
00:42:28Those of you who are who are running around going, the rapture didn't happen.
00:42:33The rapture didn't happen.
00:42:34The rapture didn't happen.
00:42:35And we don't know the time of the hour.
00:42:37That's right.
00:42:37But I also want you to realize that God wants you to take responsibility for the kingdom of God right here and right now in this place.
00:42:49I want you to realize that God wants you to take your responsibility here.
00:42:54Set your mind on things above.
00:42:56What are things above?
00:42:57Higher thinking.
00:42:59Better thinking than what you think.
00:43:01You don't sit there and think about garbage just to think about garbage, do you?
00:43:07No.
00:43:08You want to think of things that are better.
00:43:11Things that are full of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, gentleness, long-suffering, and any other kind of thing that would honor and glorify God.
00:43:22Anything else that would bring no judgment of the law against you.
00:43:29You want to focus on those things.
00:43:32Why?
00:43:32Because that's what thinking on things that are above or is talking about.
00:43:38Not on things of this earth.
00:43:41Why?
00:43:42Because things on this earth, they're not.
00:43:45Things on this earth are as fickle as the wind.
00:43:54One moment is blowing one way.
00:43:56Another moment is blowing another way.
00:43:58It can't make up its mind.
00:44:00And because of its indecision, it ends up chasing its tail, turning into a tornado and becoming very destructive.
00:44:12So it's very important that we remember that we not be chased by every wind of doctrine.
00:44:18And instead of looking for a kingdom of God and to be snatched away out of this, the reality is the Bible doesn't talk about that.
00:44:30But the Bible talks about the kingdom of God is here right now.
00:44:35Live it right now.
00:44:40Live as though you are in the kingdom of God right now.
00:44:44Maybe because Jesus didn't come because his kingdom wasn't ready here, Christian.
00:44:49You call yourself a Christian.
00:44:54Well, I've got something I need to say to you about that.
00:44:57There were these two famous preachers.
00:44:59You could put your own names in there.
00:45:02And they were very politically motivated.
00:45:10And they said they're around the lake of fire in hell.
00:45:16Balling and weeping and grinding their teeth together.
00:45:19One looks at the other and says,
00:45:22Hey, Pat.
00:45:24What, Jerry?
00:45:27I don't understand why we're down here in hell.
00:45:30We hated all the right things.
00:45:31We were Christian, weren't we?
00:45:37When you define your Christianity by who you can marginalize,
00:45:41when you define your Christianity,
00:45:43when you weaponize the scriptures that are meant to save life,
00:45:47and you weaponize them against people,
00:45:48you are not a Christian.
00:45:55And you don't deserve to call yourself a follower of Jesus Christ
00:46:00because Jesus doesn't think like dead.
00:46:04Jesus' purpose, according to scripture,
00:46:07was to sink and to save that which was lost.
00:46:11Not to marginalize people.
00:46:22Not to call people outside of who they are.
00:46:27Not to take rights and privileges
00:46:29that these people have fought for.
00:46:31not to impose your politics on their belief
00:46:38and make it right or wrong.
00:46:44The truth of the matter is,
00:46:46we are ambassadors of Christ.
00:46:48We have a responsibility of establishing the kingdom of God now.
00:46:52And when the kingdom of God is established now,
00:47:00here, now,
00:47:01it's then and only then that Jesus will come.
00:47:05After we've been through trial,
00:47:07after we've been through the persecution,
00:47:09after we've been through that fire of judgment,
00:47:11if you will.
00:47:12And when we come out on the other side,
00:47:18in that purifying fire,
00:47:20and we come out on that other side,
00:47:21that constant sanctifying fire,
00:47:25and we come out on the other side,
00:47:28Jesus will look and say,
00:47:30well done.
00:47:33Well done.
00:47:37Come on in
00:47:37to the kingdom of God.
00:47:40What about you?
00:47:54In a staff meeting here recently,
00:47:56I said we've got to be a church.
00:48:02That we have got to be a church
00:48:05because we reach over
00:48:08I can't tell you
00:48:11six or seven thousand people,
00:48:14six, well,
00:48:15three hundred,
00:48:16six hundred to seven hundred thousand
00:48:18people
00:48:19a week.
00:48:24And we realize that.
00:48:29But I'm not convinced
00:48:31that all those people that we reach
00:48:32are completely saved.
00:48:34So we have a responsibility
00:48:36to
00:48:39declare
00:48:42that Jesus Christ is Lord.
00:48:44So today I want to give you
00:48:45an opportunity.
00:48:47I want to give you an opportunity

00:50:16has a plan for you.
00:50:17His love is beyond
00:50:18any kind of love
00:50:20you will ever experience
00:50:21in this world.
00:50:23His love for you,
00:50:25even though Jesus
00:50:28went to the cross
00:50:29and died,
00:50:31his love for you
00:50:32was so much
00:50:34that it brought him
00:50:34out of that grave.
00:50:37Brought him out of that grave
00:50:38for you.
00:50:40He rose again
00:50:42out of that grave
00:50:43for you.
00:50:44He ascended
00:50:45for you.

00:50:48and ascended
00:50:49into heaven

00:50:56But our relationship

00:51:29I'm a sinner?

00:51:31The Bible says,
00:51:32all have sinned
00:51:33and fallen short
00:51:34of the glory of God.
00:51:35Now,
00:51:36what does the Bible
00:51:36say about sin?
00:51:37It says,
00:51:38the wages of sin,
00:51:39what we deserve
00:51:40for our sin is death.
00:51:42But no,
00:51:43but God,
00:51:44but God demonstrated,
00:51:46I know,
00:51:46wait a minute,
00:51:47I'm getting my words
00:51:47confused here.
00:51:49For the wages of sin
00:51:50is death,
00:51:50but the gift of God
00:51:52is eternal life
00:51:53in Jesus Christ,
00:51:54our Lord.
00:51:54And we know it's eternal
00:51:55because Jesus
00:51:56overcame death,
00:51:58hell,
00:51:58and the grave
00:51:59and rose again for us.
00:52:02Okay,
00:52:03so you can come
00:52:04to him now.
00:52:06And the wages
00:52:07of your sin is death,
00:52:08but the gift of God
00:52:09is eternal life
00:52:10in Jesus Christ,
00:52:11our Lord.
00:52:12Jesus said,
00:52:13I am the way,
00:52:14the truth,
00:52:15and the life.
00:52:16No one comes to the Father
00:52:17except through me.
00:52:18This is not only
00:52:20a religious movement.
00:52:22This is a way of life.
00:52:25You know,
00:52:26we talk about people
00:52:27choosing this lifestyle
00:52:29or choosing that lifestyle.
00:52:31No,
00:52:32that's how they're born.
00:52:34Being a Christian
00:52:35is a lifestyle choice.
00:52:37You can choose this.
00:52:40You can choose
00:52:41to live
00:52:42according to Christ
00:52:44in the way,
00:52:45the truth,
00:52:46and his life
00:52:47in your life.
00:52:49You can do that.
00:52:51But God demonstrated
00:52:52his love toward us
00:52:53because Jesus gave
00:52:54his life
00:52:55so that you could have it.
00:52:57We see Romans,
00:52:592 Corinthians 5,
00:53:0020 and 21,
00:53:02that
00:53:02our sin
00:53:04is not going to be
00:53:05counted against us
00:53:06again
00:53:06when we give
00:53:09our life to Jesus,
00:53:10but
00:53:11was put on Jesus
00:53:12so that we could
00:53:13become the righteousness
00:53:14of God.
00:53:16Jesus paid a price
00:53:17for you and I.
00:53:19He paid a price
00:53:20for you and I
00:53:21that we could
00:53:22never repay.
00:53:24And the gift
00:53:25of God,
00:53:26there's nothing
00:53:26we can do
00:53:27except surrender.
00:53:28what can we do
00:53:32to have this gift?
00:53:33Nothing
00:53:33except say yes
00:53:35because there's
00:53:37no work of merit
00:53:38that we can do
00:53:40to get us saved.
00:53:42all we can do
00:53:44is say Jesus
00:53:44come into my heart
00:53:45and it's in that
00:53:49and it's in that
00:53:51place
00:53:52where we surrender
00:53:53to him
00:53:54that God's
00:53:55free gift
00:53:56of salvation
00:53:56is applied
00:53:58to our life.
00:53:58That liberation
00:53:59from sin
00:54:00and death
00:54:01is applied
00:54:02to our life
00:54:02where eternal
00:54:03life is given
00:54:05to us
00:54:05and we will
00:54:07live
00:54:07forever.
00:54:09We may die
00:54:10physically
00:54:11but we'll live
00:54:11eternally
00:54:12with God.
00:54:15And that's
00:54:16the promise.
00:54:18The promise
00:54:19is

00:54:25if you confess
00:54:26with your mouth
00:54:27and you believe

01:01:32And he says this is the new covenant in my blood
01:01:35He took the cup called redemption
01:01:37And he said this is the new covenant in my blood
01:01:44Which is poured out for you
01:01:46For the remission of your sins
01:01:48Drink from it all of you
01:01:52And remember me
01:01:54As our study goes along
01:02:02This is part of how we recognize
01:02:07That we have taken Christ into ourselves
01:02:11We have taken his body into us
01:02:13Which means we are incarnate of his will
01:02:17And it is in the cup
01:02:21That we remember that we have been redeemed
01:02:27We have been bought with the price of his blood
01:02:30So as often as you eat this bread
01:02:33And you drink this cup
01:02:35You remember his death until he comes
01:02:38But there comes with that
01:02:42A strong warning
01:02:44If you take this unworthily
01:02:49In other words
01:02:50You don't have a relationship with Jesus Christ yet
01:02:54You will be held responsible for the death
01:02:58And the blood
01:03:00The broken body
01:03:01And the shed blood
01:03:02Of Jesus Christ
01:03:03You'll be held responsible for his murder
01:03:05So as we come to this time

01:04:15It is who you are

01:04:19Following Jesus

01:04:23That is a lifestyle choice

01:04:26To live the life
01:04:28Of Christ

01:04:29And the neat thing about that
