00:00It's the John C. Harris, a big field of three-year-old fillies going down that unique
00:05hillside turf course at Santa Anita, Scott. And I think we start out with one of the horses to
00:10beat in here. That's Warming. She ships over for Grand Motion from the East Coast where she's been
00:15at Saratoga facing better horses than what she'll be facing on Saturday. If you look at Grand Motion
00:21just over the last year when he's been shipping horses into Southern California, he's five for
00:2615. He's one with 33% of them. He just knows the horses that are going to come over here and run
00:31well. And she did have some legitimate trouble in her last start as well. Yeah, I think she might
00:36have some trouble again here though. Down the hill, off the pace, along the rail, a little bit tough.
00:41You could argue she's better sprinting because she won on debut sprinting, but she hasn't really
00:46improved since then. I have her as an under horse too, Scott. I think she's going to get a little
00:50over bed as well. Practical Dream seems like one of the speed horses in here. She was speed and fade
00:55in her only race on the grass. Yeah, she's up against it because there's a lot of other speed
00:59or at least some other speed. And again, rather be the outside speed than the inside speed down the
01:04hillside turf course. Number three, she'll fly. And I chased this filly a few times earlier in the
01:08year, Scott. Like I want to like her a little bit more than I do. Her last four races on paper
01:13just aren't very good. She hasn't hit the board and she hasn't shown that improvement. Yeah, I would say
01:18I hope you had her last time she won, but she was three to two that day. I struggle to see how she
01:23wins this one. I do like innovative in this spot. Generally horses that run well going a mile and
01:28that can show a little bit of speed going a mile. They perform well going on this six and a half down
01:34the hill, Scott. And she sat just behind the leader. She got a nice opening. She angled out
01:39and she beat a rival in this race, Eiffel, who had maybe a little bit of trouble in that one, but
01:44I thought innovative just ran solid. And I think she's a very good fit in here. I do too. I think the
01:49cutback will be good. And like you said, the one thing that everybody should think about
01:53all these six and a half for a long race and standing a much different than the five for
01:57a long races. A lot of times better off to have the foundation of the two turn races instead
02:01on the cutback. I like innovative as well. Lee's baby girl was claimed by trainer Carla
02:07Gaines for 50,000 back in February. She was off for a while and she showed up in September.
02:12She was pretty impressive winning at 15 to one. She sat just off it, Scott. I think in this
02:18race, she'll probably be more on the lead. And this is kind of one of the things you're
02:21talking about with the difference between five for a longs and six and a half. So we'll
02:25have to see if she can get the six and a half, but we see her here winning at five.
02:29Carla Gaines, a patient trainer. This horse ran well for her early. She's not known for
02:34winning at first, second asking necessarily. And, uh, Oh, that was Doug O'Neill. So I do
02:38apologize on that part, but Carla has this billy in the right, uh, right, right spot
02:42now, $50,000 claim, two straight wins now moving up in class.
02:47Yeah. She's very, very good with these turf horses. We moved to Casalu, who you kind of
02:51think about the opposite with Bob Baffert, right? You don't think about Baffert with turf
02:55horses, but this filly has been very solid. Scott, I think she might've just been facing
02:59too tough of company against grade one foes last time out now cuts back down the hill.
03:04She should be in the mix early and maybe throughout.
03:07Yeah. Those were tough fields. She faced the grade one Delmar Oaks and 11 horse field.
03:12Obviously Bob Baffert knowing that she's probably not sharp enough to go five and had her
03:16going two turns. Now she probably gets back to what she does best.
03:19Don't tell our wives. We'll try the turf one more time. The dam did win on the turf and
03:24a couple of winning turf sibs, but she's going to have to improve a little bit to compete
03:28with this, with this field.
03:29Yeah. She's a big price for a good reason. The one thing I'll point to, she never got
03:33back to going to the turf, but she did debut there. So maybe Leonard Powell all along
03:37thought she was a turf horse and ran around the dirt for different reasons.
03:40A favor to you, Scott, is a horse that you can isolate her sprint races. And then all
03:45of a sudden her form looks even better. If you just cross out those two races going a
03:49mile on the grass, she all of a sudden looks like a horse who hasn't really done too much
03:54wrong. I don't know what they are going to do from a running style standpoint. She's
03:58probably going to have to be coming from off the pace a little bit, but it's a decent
04:01spot for her. And I think she's more of a sprinter.
04:03Yeah. Juan Hernandez, obviously very capable of working on a trip here. He'll need to do so
04:08from probably mid pack, but both of her wins have come over the surface.
04:12I went back and forth with Eiffel. I do think she fits in this race. She wins her career
04:17debut and then she has some trouble in her second start. Third start, Scott, she got caught down
04:22on the inside in a race that was won by a big long shot who got loose on the lead. She didn't
04:27really get much of a chance throughout a lot of the race. She was a little flat late, maybe
04:31a little disappointing when she got some room. But if you watch her workouts in the morning
04:35too, she is seriously talented. She just hasn't really put it all together yet. Do you think
04:40she might be able to on Saturday? She might, you know, I prefer the one that beat her two
04:44back and innovative. I think you do as well, but she definitely ran well and finished well
04:49in that lone sprint. Maybe down the hill is just what she's looking for.
04:52My only concern would be she's gotten bet in her last couple of races. So if she gets bet
04:57again, I wouldn't necessarily want to play her, but if she is in that six, eight to one range,
05:01that's a very fair price for her in a spot like this. A thousand miles seems like another
05:05one that might be overmatched. Scott, her only grass race was at Turf Paradise.
05:09Yeah. 50 to one on the morning line and no disrespect to the connections we're giving
05:13in a shot, but I think for good reason. Wink and a grin fits with this group on class.
05:19The problem is Scott, she comes from way out of it and she's cutting back from a mile. So
05:24she might be so far behind this group early on. We like the cutbacks coming down the hill,
05:29but not necessarily ones that lack speed at all. They really need things to go their way to get
05:35the job done. Tight squeeze. Unfortunately had that happened last time out, right at the start
05:40of the race, got squeezed back, was in between horses, uh, had to come from about six lengths
05:46off. I thought she closed pretty well that day going five for a long Scott. She's a little bit
05:50sneaky and kind of interesting going a little longer here at six and a half. Yeah. If you dive in,
05:54I think you could definitely have reason to believe that further than five furlongs might work out
05:59well for her. You get Paco Lopez, of course, he going to be riding out there. That's an
06:03interesting point. I don't think so. Yeah. I think he's going to be appealing because he's
06:06suspended as of now. So we'll see how that process is going to work out with the horse
06:10racing integrity and say, yeah, the, uh, the H-I-S-A. He's a Scott, as we round things out
06:15with me. So fancy, this is an honest cow bread grade three place gets back to turf and we'll make
06:21the third start of her form cycle. She's way out wide in here though. Can she compete with a group
06:25like this? Well, I don't know if she's good enough at this cow bread, but one thing I'll say is she
06:30might get the trip that works out very well. She's got tactical speed, so she won't be way out of it
06:35and she'll keep herself out of trouble when you're coming down the hill from the outside. It can work
06:39out very, very well.
