00:00Hello and welcome to another edition of Look Around London.
00:04The Bank of England isn't just the UK central bank, it's also home to one of London's
00:09most iconic buildings. Located on Threadneedle Street, the site has become the bank's headquarters
00:14since 1734. The current building was designed in the 20th century by architect Sir Herbert
00:21Baker, though parts of the original 18th century design by Sir John Soane still remain.
00:28From the outside, you'll notice its massive fortress-like walls, with no windows at street
00:33level, a reminder of the treasure once stored inside. In fact, beneath the building lies some
00:39of the largest gold vaults in the world, holding hundreds of billions of pounds worth of gold.
00:46Inside the bank is a mix of classical grandeur and modern offices, with ornate halls, columns
00:51and even a dedicated museum.
