00:00On behalf of the people of Papua New Guinea, we extend our warm greetings to the State
00:04of Israel, the Jewish people and the land promised by God to your forefathers.
00:09Our friendship is rooted not only in diplomacy, but in faith, history and a recognition of
00:14the eternal covenant that binds the people of Israel to the land of Israel.
00:18We acknowledge that many nations debate and deliberate over the question of a Palestinian
00:22state.
00:23Yet, after careful reflection, prayer and recognition of biblical truth, Papua New Guinea stands
00:29in solidarity with Israel in affirming your ancient and rightful inheritance.
00:34The land of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob is not a political accident of history, but a divine
00:39covenant written in scripture.
00:41Our people cannot ignore that places such as Shechem, Bethel, Hebron, Beersheba, Jerusalem
00:46and Bethlehem are not merely geographic territories.
00:49They are sacred to the story of Israel, the dwelling places of patriarchs, prophets, kings
00:54and the Messiah himself.
00:56To divide or deny these heartlands would be to sever the very roots of biblical faith,
01:01a foundation that sustains both Jews and Christians.
01:04It was in Shechem that Elohim appeared to Abraham and promised the land to his descendants.
01:09To your offspring I will give this land.
01:11Genesis 12, 6-7 At Bethel, Abraham built an altar to the Lord.
01:16Genesis 12, 8 And later, Jacob dreamed of the ladder reaching
01:20into heaven, hearing God's covenant confirmed .
01:25These are the very foundations of faith that tie the Jewish people to their land.
01:30In Hebron, Abraham purchased the cave of Machpelah as a family burial site .
01:37There rest Abraham and Sarah, Isaac and Rebecca, Jacob and Leah.
01:41This act of faith was the first legal deed of land ownership recorded in scripture.
01:46Hebron is not just a city, it is the anchor of covenant history.
01:50At Beersheba, Abraham planted a tamarisk tree and called on the everlasting God .
01:57Isaac later built an altar there and invoked the name of the Lord .
02:04These wells and altars became testimonies of God's faithfulness across generations, marking
02:09Beersheba as a place of covenant encounter.
02:12On Mount Moriah in Jerusalem, Abraham offered up Isaac in obedience to God's command .
02:20It was there the Lord provided the ram in place of Isaac, foreshadowing redemption.
02:25Centuries later, Solomon built the temple on this holy mountain .
02:30Jerusalem is thus the eternal capital, chosen by God, the place where his name dwells forever.
02:36In Bethlehem, Rachel was buried on the way to Ephrath .
02:41And it later became the birthplace of King David .
02:46In fullness of time, it was also the birthplace of Yeshua the Messiah .
02:53Bethlehem therefore connects the promises of Israel's kingship with the promise of redemption
02:57for all nations.
02:59For Papua New Guinea, a nation where the Bible has transformed our society, it would be a
03:03betrayal of our faith and heritage to support claims that deny Israel's biblical connection
03:08to these lands.
03:09To side against Israel would be to side against the word of God.
03:13Therefore, we affirm that the covenant promises remain unbroken and everlasting.
03:17We recognize the plight and suffering of the Palestinian people and pray for their welfare
03:22and dignity.
03:23Yet, we must also distinguish between compassion for people and compromise over God's covenant.
03:28Peace must never come at the cost of truth.
03:30True peace can only be built on justice and recognition of Israel's eternal rights to
03:35the land.
03:36Many nations pressure Israel to divide Jerusalem, to withdraw from Judea and Samaria, and to
03:41surrender Bethlehem and Hebron.
03:43But we, as Papua New Guineans, declare that these places are not bargaining chips.
03:48They are the heartbeat of Israel's identity, the testimony of God's faithfulness across generations.
03:54We also recognize the spiritual significance of Israel's restoration in our
03:58time.
03:59The rebirth of the Jewish homeland in 1948 and the reunification of Jerusalem in 1967 are
04:05not accidents of history.
04:07They are fulfillments of prophecy, signs of God's enduring covenant with His people.
04:12Ezekiel 37, 21-22 and Isaiah 66, 8.
04:17To deny this is to blind oneself to the move of God in our generation.
04:21Papua New Guinea is a young nation.
04:24But we are not ashamed to stand with Israel, even if it costs us politically or diplomatically.
04:29We may not have the wealth or influence of larger nations, but we have faith, and we
04:33believe that blessing Israel brings blessing upon our land, just as the scripture declares,
04:38I will bless those who bless you.
04:39Genesis 12, 3.
04:41In closing, Papua New Guinea reaffirms her commitment to Israel and the Jewish people.
04:46We stand with you not because of politics alone, but because of conviction, covenant and scripture.
04:52From the highlands of PNG to the hills of Judea, may our voices echo together.
04:57For Zion's sake we will not keep silent, Isaiah 62, 1.
05:01Shalom, peace and blessing upon Israel forever.
