NATURE OF GOD'S EXISTENCE
El Shaddai — God’s Self-Sustaining Nature

Exodus 6:3 – “I appeared to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob as God Almighty [El Shaddai], but by my name YHWH I was not known to them.”

Meaning of El Shaddai: Often translated “God Almighty,” but at its root it means the All-Sufficient One, the God who provides and sustains life. The image of “Shaddai” is like a mother providing nourishment — God as the One who supplies everything creation needs.

Connection to Existence: This name reveals God as the self-sustaining source of all life. He does not need to draw life from anywhere else. Everything in creation depends on Him (Acts 17:28: “In Him we live and move and have our being”), but He depends on nothing.

00:00The nature of God's existence, El Shaddai and YHWH, as the self-sustaining and self-existent one nature of God's existence, El Shaddai, God's self-sustaining nature, Exodus 6.3, I appeared to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob as God Almighty, El Shaddai, but by my name, YHWH, I was not known to them.
00:21Meaning of El Shaddai, often translated God Almighty, but at its root it means the All-Sufficient One, the God who provides and sustains life.
00:32The image of Shaddai is like a mother providing nourishment, God as the one who supplies everything creation needs.
00:40Connection to Existence, this name reveals God as the self-sustaining source of all life.
00:46He does not need to draw life from anywhere else.
00:50Everything in creation depends on Him, Acts 17.28.
00:54In Him we live and move and have our being, but He depends on nothing.
00:59YHWH, God's self-existent nature, Exodus 3.14, God said to Moses, I am who I am.
01:07And He said, Say this to the people of Israel, I am has sent me to you.
01:12Meaning of YHWH, from the Hebrew verb Heya to be, YHWH means the one who exists by Himself, the uncaused cause, the eternal I am.
01:23Connection to Existence, unlike all created things which had a beginning, God has no beginning and no end.
01:30His nature is self-existent.
01:32He is being itself, existence that simply is.
01:36El Shaddai plus YHWH equals the full picture of God's existence, El Shaddai, self-sustaining.
01:44He is the one who supplies life, energy, and being to all creation.
01:48He nourishes, upholds, and sustains the universe, Hebrews 1.3.
01:53YHWH, self-existent.
01:55He Himself does not come from anywhere, does not depend on anything, and cannot be diminished.
02:01He simply is.
02:02Together, these names express the mystery of God's existence.
02:07He is the source of everything, El Shaddai.
02:10He Himself depends on nothing, Ihu.
02:12Photon analogy connection now tie this to the photon experiment.
02:17Just as the photons do not send a signal, but are already connected at a level beyond space and time,
02:23God's names show us He does not derive His life or being from anywhere.
02:27He simply is Ihu, and He is the source that sustains everything else, El Shaddai.
02:34El Shaddai points us to God's self-sustaining power.
02:37He is the one who continually upholds all creation.
02:41YHWH points us to God's self-existent nature.
02:45He is eternal, uncreated, and unchanging.
02:48Together, they reveal the God who exists outside of time, like entangled photons defy space and time,
02:56and yet enters into covenant relationship with His people as the living source of all being.
03:02The Twin Photon Experiment, Switzerland, 1997 in this experiment, often called quantum entanglement,
03:10scientists split a photon into two identical photons with the same properties.
03:15They sent them in opposite directions, one seven miles one way, the other seven miles the opposite way.
03:23When they altered the state of one photon, the other responded instantly, even though they were separated by 40 miles.
03:31This defies our normal sense of time and space, because there is no signal traveling between them at the speed of light.
03:39Instead, the two photons exist in a state of oneness beyond distance or delay.
03:45The separation we see with our eyes is not real in the quantum level.
03:49They are mysteriously united.
03:52This zero-time connection is a scientific picture of what theologians have long called the eternal now of God.
04:00He is not bound by space or time.
04:02The nature of God's existence
04:04God reveals Himself as self-existent and timeless.
04:08Exodus 3.14
04:10God said to Moses, I am who I am.
04:13And He said, Say this to the people of Israel, I am has sent me to you.
04:18Here, God reveals Himself not in past or future tense, but as the eternal I am, the one who simply exists outside of time.
04:26Exodus 6.2.3
04:28God spoke to Moses and said to him, I am the Lord.
04:32I appeared to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob as God Almighty El Shaddai, but by my name the Lord Ihu I did not make myself fully known to them.
04:43This shows progressive revelation.
04:45To the patriarchs, He was known as El Shaddai, the powerful one, but now He discloses His covenant name YHWH.
04:53The self-existent, covenant-keeping God who is always present.
04:58Just as the entangled photons exist in mysterious unity beyond physical distance, God exists beyond the limitations of time and space.
05:08He is present everywhere at once, fully Himself in every place, in every moment.
05:14The Trinity in God's nature, the Trinity, is the clearest parallel to this mystery.
05:18The Father, Son, and Spirit are not three separate gods, but one essence shared eternally in perfect unity.
05:27The Father is God.
05:28The Son, Yeshua slash Jesus, is God.
05:31The Spirit is God.
05:33Yet they are not divided.
05:35What the Father wills, the Son embodies, and the Spirit empowers, just as the two photons mirror one another instantly without delay.
05:44Yeshua hints at this in.
05:45John 10.30, I and the Father are one.
05:49John 14.10.11, I am in the Father and the Father is in me.
05:53This is divine entanglement, not bound by distance or time, but perfect eternal oneness.
06:00The photon experiment shows us a shadow of a greater reality.
06:04Unity without delay.
06:05Communication without distance.
06:07Connection beyond time.
06:09God's name's I am, YHWH, El Shaddai reveal him as the one whose existence is not derived, but eternal, unchanging, and self-sustaining.
06:20The Trinity is the ultimate demonstration of this nature.
06:24Distinct persons, yet eternally one essence, existing in a unity so deep that distance and separation are impossible.
06:32So the experiment gives us a scientific parable of divine truth.
06:37God's being transcends time and space, just as entangled photons transcend physical separation.
06:44The names of God in Exodus reveal his eternal, self-existent nature, and the Trinity displays the mystery of oneness in plurality, timeless, perfect, and inseparable.
06:56In the 1997 photon experiment, the two photons had the same properties because they came from one source.
07:04No matter how far apart they traveled, their identity remains shared.
07:09In the Trinity, the Father, Son, and Spirit likewise share the same divine property essence.
07:15John 10.30, I and the Father are one.
07:18Hebrews 1.3, the Son is the radiance of God's glory and the exact representation of his being.
07:25They are distinct persons, yet each fully possesses the same divine attributes.
07:31Eternal, all-knowing, all-powerful, everywhere present.
07:35Same essence the photons remain mysteriously linked because they come from the same essence of light.
07:41In God's being, the Father, Son, and Spirit are not three separate gods, but one essence shared eternally.
07:48This is why early believers confessed, one God in three persons of the same substance, Hamuyusios.
07:56God's names reflect this.
07:58El Shaddai, he is self-sustaining, the source of all life.
08:02Y-H-W-H, he is self-existent, the eternal I Am.
08:07These names reveal that his essence is unlike creation.
08:11He does not derive existence from anything else.
08:13Elohim operate in the time vacuum the photons respond instantly, outside of time as we measure it.
08:21What happens to one is already true of the other.
08:24They are not bound by speed or delay.
08:27This illustrates how the Trinity exists in the eternal now.
08:31God is not limited by past, present, or future.
08:34Revelation 1.8, I am the Alpha and the Omega, says the Lord God.
08:39Who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.
08:43Psalm 90.2
08:44From everlasting to everlasting you are God.
08:47The Father, Son, and Spirit operate in perfect simultaneity, no delay, no distance, no separation.
08:54Their will, love, and action are eternally one.
08:58Tied together thought, the photon experiment shows us particles that share the same properties,
09:04essence, and act in zero time.
09:06The Trinity reveals the Father, Son, and Spirit as sharing the same divine essence,
09:12operating in timeless unity.
09:14The names of God, El Shaddai, equals self-sustaining.
09:18YHWH equals self-existent root this truth in his eternal, uncreated nature.
09:25So just as entangled photons defy our categories of time and space,
09:29the Father, Son, and Spirit exist in a divine oneness that transcends creation.
09:34Let me unpack this in a way that connects body, soul, spirit, and God's transcendence.
09:42Four realms of existence in God's operation material world, body-physical dimension.
09:48This is the realm of matter, what we can touch, see, and measure.
09:52It includes our bodies and the physical universe, stars, mountains, oceans, plants, and animals.
09:58Governed by time, decay, and natural laws, Genesis 2, 7, the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground.
10:07Here we see El Shaddai as the sustainer of life.
10:10Every heartbeat, every breath is upheld by him.
10:13Natural world, soul, psychological, emotional dimension.
10:18This is the realm of the mind, emotions, and will.
10:21It's where human reason, creativity, morality, and relationships function.
10:26Scripture calls this the soul, nefesh slash such, the seed of our personal identity.
10:32Here we experience God as the lawgiver and shepherd, Psalm 23, 3.
10:38He restores my soul.
10:39Supernatural world, spirit, spiritual dimension.
10:43This is the unseen spiritual realm where angels, demons, and the Holy Spirit operate.
10:48It's the dimension beyond the visible, where prayer, prophecy, and spiritual warfare occur.
10:55Scripture, God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.
11:01John 4, 24.
11:03Here we encounter God's spirit as the one who empowers, fills, and transforms us.
11:08Romans 8, 16.
11:10Transcendental world, God's eternity, divine dimension.
11:13This is the realm beyond all created order where only God fully exists.
11:19It transcends time, matter, and space.
11:22The dimension of the eternal I am.
11:25Scripture.
11:26From everlasting to everlasting, you are God.
11:29Psalm 92.
11:30This is where God is revealed as YHWH.
11:34The self-existent, self-sustaining, eternal being, father, son, and spirit in timeless communion.
11:40How they relate body-material world connects us to creation.
11:45Soul-natural world connects us to humanity.
11:49Spirit-supernatural world connects us to God.
11:52Transcendence-eternal world is God's own nature, into which we are invited through Christ.
11:58When these are in harmony, the body obeys, the soul is renewed, the spirit is alive,
12:05and the believer walks in fellowship with the eternal I am.
12:08Photon analogy here the photon experiment shows particles united in a dimension beyond time and space.
12:16Likewise, God's nature, the transcendental realm, unites and sustains the material, natural, and spiritual realms.
12:24Just as photons mirror each other instantly, the father, son, and spirit operate in perfect unity beyond time.
12:31The material world body ties us to creation.
12:35The natural world soul shapes our identity and choices.
12:39The supernatural world spirit opens us to God's presence.
12:44The transcendental world eternity is God's dwelling, beyond all worlds, yet through Christ, he invites us into it.
12:51Yes, let's go deeper.
12:53When we compare the Trinity's existence with the 1997 twin photon experiment, Entangled Photons,
13:01we are dealing with two mysteries, one from physics and one from theology.
13:06The photon experiment gave us a glimpse into how oneness can exist across separation,
13:12while the Trinity reveals the eternal unity of divine persons within the Godhead.
13:171. Photon entanglement as a shadow of divine unity in the 1997 Swiss experiment.
13:24Two photons shared the same properties, even when separated by miles.
13:30Whatever happened to one instantly happened to the other, without delay, beyond time and space.
13:36This is not because they send messages faster than light,
13:40but because in some sense they are still one system, connected beyond the visible dimensions.
13:45This hints at the way the Father, Son, and Spirit are not three separate beings, but one essence.
13:52They share will, nature, and glory.
13:55They don't inform each other across space and time.
13:58They simply are eternally united too.
14:01Trinity in Eternal Communion, the Bible reveals a God who exists in eternal fellowship.
14:06John 1.
14:071.
14:08In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
14:12John 10.30
14:13I and the Father are one.
14:15John 16.13-15
14:18The Spirit speaks only what He hears from the Son and the Father.
14:22This is not communication like humans, but perfect coexistence in shared essence.
14:28Just as photons mirror each other beyond time and space,
14:32the Son mirrors the Father perfectly, and the Spirit reflects both.
14:37Yet each remains distinct in personhood.
14:40Names of God and His nature, El Shaddai, Exodus 6.3
14:44God Almighty, the All-Sufficient, Self-Sustaining One.
14:48Just as photons need no medium to stay entangled, God is not dependent on creation for existence.
14:55Y.H.W.H. Exodus 3.14
14:58I am who I am, the Self-Existent One beyond time.
15:02Just as entangled photons defy our concepts of space-time, God declares Himself as being itself, unbound by created dimensions.
15:12The Trinity shares this essence equally.
15:14The Father is I am, the Son is I am, John 8.58, and the Spirit is I am, Acts 5.3.4
15:23For four dimensions of existence if we connect, material world, body right arrow, creation, temporal, measurable, natural world, soul right arrow, consciousness, reason, relationship, supernatural world, spirit, right arrow, realm of God's interaction with humanity, transcendental world, right arrow, God's eternal essence, where the Trinity operates outside matter, time, and space.
15:50The Trinity exists fully in the transcendental dimension, yet manifests through the supernatural into the natural and material.
15:58The Son took on flesh, material, the Spirit indwells believers, supernatural, and the Father governs all things beyond time, transcendental.
16:09Trinity and zero-time operation in the photon experiment, there is no time lag, actions are mirrored instantly.
16:16Similarly, the Trinity operates in zero time, the Father does not wait for the Son or Spirit to act, their will and operation are one.
16:26Creation, redemption, and sanctification are not divided tasks but shared works, expressed through distinct persons.
16:34So the photon experiment is like a parable of divine mystery.
16:38It shows us how oneness can transcend separation, how unity can exist without delay across distance, and how time and space are not barriers to true essence.
16:50But the Trinity is infinitely greater, not just united by properties, but by one eternal essence of being, I Am.
16:58In this exploration a mystery that lies at the heart of faith, the nature of God's existence.
17:04Unlike all created things, God does not merely exist in time or space.
17:10He is the source of being itself, the foundation of all life, the eternal I Am.
17:16The power of God's names throughout Scripture, God reveals Himself by names.
17:21These names are not arbitrary labels but revelations of who He is.
17:26To Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, He was El Shaddai.
17:30To Moses, He revealed Himself as YHWH.
17:34Each name opens a window into His eternal nature.
17:38El Shaddai in Scripture in Exodus 6, 3, God said,
17:42I appeared to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob as God Almighty El Shaddai,
17:47but by My name YHWH I was not known to them.
17:51Here, God shows progressive revelation,
17:54moving His people from knowledge of His might to knowledge of His eternal being.
17:58Meaning of El Shaddai, the name El Shaddai is often translated God Almighty,
18:04but at its root, it means the All-Sufficient One.
18:08It paints the picture of God as the nourisher, the provider,
18:12the one who is fully capable of sustaining all life.
18:15El Shaddai as the source of life, El Shaddai points us to God's self-sustaining power.
18:21He does not need creation to exist, but creation cannot exist without Him.
18:26Acts 17, 28 affirms,
18:28In Him we live and move and have our being.
18:32Every moment of life flows from His sufficiency.
18:35YHWH revealed when Moses encountered God in the burning bush,
18:39God declared,
18:41I am who I am, Exodus 3, 14.
18:44This name, YHWH, is derived from the Hebrew verb heia, to be.
18:49It means that God exists by Himself,
18:52without cause, without beginning, without end.
18:54The eternal I am unlike creation, which comes and goes.
18:59God simply is.
19:00He does not become.
19:02He does not grow.
19:03He does not decline.
19:05He is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
19:08This is what it means to be YHWH, the eternal, self-existent one.
19:13Timelessness of YHWH God does not define Himself in terms of past or future.
19:19He does not say,
19:20I was or I will be.
19:22He says,
19:22I am.
19:24His existence is an eternal present.
19:26He is outside of time, and yet He holds time in His hands.
19:30El Shaddai and YHWH together, when we bring these names together, we see the full picture.
19:37El Shaddai reveals God as the one who sustains all creation.
19:42YHWH reveals Him as the one who exists by Himself.
19:45He both gives life to all and draws life from none.
19:49The uncaused cause, every created thing, has a beginning.
19:53Every effect has a cause.
19:55But God is the uncaused cause, the one who Himself has no origin.
20:00He is the fountain from which all being flows, yet He Himself depends on nothing.
20:05A glimpse from science, even science, has stumbled upon mysteries that reflect this reality.
20:11In 1997, scientists in Switzerland split a photon into two identical photons and sent them miles apart.
20:19When they changed one, the other instantly mirrored it.
20:24The photon experiment explained those separated by 40 miles.
20:28The two photons responded as though no distance existed between them.
20:33No signal was exchanged.
20:35No time delay occurred.
20:37They remained mysteriously connected beyond space and time.
20:41Quantum unity, as a parable, this experiment gives us a parable of God's nature.
20:46Just as photons defy the categories of space and time, so God transcends the limits of creation.
20:54He is not bound by the speed of light or by distance.
20:57He simply is eternal and self-existent.
21:00The eternal now theologians describe this reality as God's eternal now.
21:05To Him, past, present and future are equally present.
21:09He is present in Genesis, in Revelation, and in this very moment, all at once, without beginning or end.
21:17Enter the Trinity, this mystery is displayed most fully in the Trinity.
21:21The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are not three gods, but one essence.
21:26They share one nature, one will, one glory, and yet they are distinct persons.
21:31Oneness of the Father and Son in John 10.30, Jesus said,
21:35I and the Father are one.
21:37In John 14.10.11, He explained,
21:41I am in the Father, and the Father is in Me.
21:43Their unity is not communication across distance but perfect shared existence.
21:49The Spirit's unity with the Father and Son, the Spirit, too, operates in this oneness.
21:54In John 16.13.15, Jesus declared that the Spirit speaks only what He hears from the Father and the Son.
22:02The Spirit reflects and embodies the same will and essence.
22:07Photon analogy and the Trinity just as entangled photons mirror one another instantly.
22:13The Trinity exists in perfect simultaneity.
22:16What the Father wills, the Son embodies and the Spirit empowers.
22:20There is no delay, no division, only eternal unity.
22:24Distinction without separation, the Father is not the Son.
22:28The Son is not the Spirit.
22:30Yet they are one in essence.
22:32This is the great mystery of the Trinity.
22:34Unity without separation.
22:36Distinction without division.
22:38For realms of existence, this truth also sheds light on the dimensions of life.
22:44There is the material world of the body, the natural world of the soul,
22:49the supernatural world of the Spirit, and the transcendental world of God's eternity.
22:54God in the material world in the material world.
22:58God is El Shaddai, sustaining every heartbeat, every breath, every atom.
23:03Genesis 2, 7 reminds us that He formed man from the dust and breathed life into Him.
23:10God in the natural world in the natural world.
23:13God restores the soul.
23:15Psalm 23, 3 declares,
23:17He restores my soul.
23:19He guides the mind, heals the emotions, and directs the will.
23:23He is shepherd and lawgiver in this realm.
23:26God in the supernatural world in the supernatural realm.
23:29God is Spirit.
23:30John 4, 24 tells us,
23:32God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in Spirit and Truth.
23:38Here, we encounter His power through prayer, prophecy, and spiritual transformation.
23:44God in the transcendental world above all creation lies the transcendental world,
23:48the eternal realm where God exists in His fullness.
23:52Psalm 90, 2 declares,
23:54From everlasting to everlasting, you are God.
23:57This is where YHWH reigns beyond time, beyond space, beyond change.
24:04Harmony of the four realms, when these realms are in harmony, the body obeys,
24:09the soul is renewed, the spirit is alive,
24:12and the believer walks in fellowship with the eternal I Am.
24:15God sustains every dimension of life.
24:19Tying science and scripture together just as entangled photons show us unity beyond time and space,
24:26so the Trinity reveals divine oneness.
24:30The photon experiment hints at truth scripture has declared for millennia.
24:34God is not bound by the categories of creation.
24:37El Shaddai and YHWH revisited returning to His names.
24:43We see El Shaddai as the one who continually sustains and nourishes,
24:47and YHWH as the eternal I Am.
24:51Together, they declare a God who both gives life and depends on nothing for life.
24:55In humility, this truth humbles us.
24:58We are not self-sustaining.
24:59We are fragile, temporary, dependent.
25:02Every breath we take is a gift of El Shaddai.
25:05Without Him, we do not exist.
25:07After confidence and worship, this truth also gives us confidence.
25:12YHWH, the eternal I Am, does not change.
25:15His promises cannot fail.
25:17And because He is faithful, we can worship with assurance,
25:21knowing we are held in His eternal sufficiency.
25:24So let us stand in awe of the God who is both El Shaddai and YHWH,
25:30the sustainer of all and the self-existent One.
25:33Let us worship the Triune God, Father, Son, and Spirit,
25:37who transcends time and yet walks with us daily.
25:41May His eternal presence fill our hearts, sustain our lives, and guide our steps.
25:45Amen.
25:46Amen.
