When rival networks or outlets make controversial claims, the professional journalistic approach is to report both sides clearly, without sounding biased yourself. You can frame it as “MSNBC claims… while Skyline News disputes…” — giving context to viewers but letting them decide.

00:00yeah and again emphasize what you just emphasized we don't know any full details of this that we
00:09don't know if this was a supporter shooting their gun off in celebration or so we have no idea about
00:14this but following up what was just said he's been one of the most divisive especially divisive
00:20younger figures in this who is constantly sort of pushing this sort of hate speech or sort of
00:27aimed at certain groups and i always go back to hateful thoughts lead to hateful words which then
00:34lead to hateful actions and i think that's the environment we're in that that people just you
00:40can't stop with these sort of awful thoughts you have and then saying these awful words and not
00:45expect awful actions to take place and that's the unfortunate environment we're in following charlie
00:52kirk's death media reactions have sparked debate msnbc commentators suggested that kirk's rhetoric
00:59often labeled as hate speech by critics contributed to the hostility surrounding him however skyline
01:06news quickly rebutted msnbc's framing calling it unfair and politically motivated the network argued
01:12that msnbc as a left-leaning outlet was exploiting the tragedy to push its narrative skyline emphasized
01:19that kirk's legacy should be measured by his advocacy for free speech and his role as a
01:24conservative leader not through partisan attacks this clash highlights the broader media divide in
01:30america where the interpretation of kirk's life and death has become another flashpoint in the
01:34culture war meanwhile media reactions have stirred controversy msnbc commentators claimed kirk's history
01:42of what they called hate speech fueled hostility against him but skyline news pushed back accusing msnbc of
01:49politicizing the tragedy because of its left-wing leanings the dispute underscores how divided the
01:54media landscape remains even in moments of national loss it is a dark day for america the great and
02:01legendary charlie kirk is dead that is how president donald trump described conservative father and husband
02:08charlie kirk who was assassinated today at a rally in utah now this should be a moment every reasonable
02:15person agrees is wrong and horrific but i was stunned and disgusted to see some of the media
02:21coverage in the wake of this murder environment um in which a shooting like this happens
02:29yeah and again emphasize what you just emphasized we don't know any of the
02:32full details of this that we don't know if this was a supporter shooting their gun off
02:36in celebration or so we have no idea about this the assassination was a supporter firing a gun off
02:44in celebration they actually put that to air the shooting was at 12 20 pm charlie was hit directly in
02:51the neck and i've watched the video because i have to report on it but i do not encourage anyone to see
02:57it for so-called journalists to publish an assertion that this shot which was from around 200 yards away
03:03which is about 180 meters to publish the assertion that it was an innocent mistake of a supporter is
03:11quite frankly insane it is willfully false and that clip isn't even the worst of the media's coverage
03:17while showing footage of people running from gunshots msnbc thought it appropriate to provide context
03:24they called him divisive at a time while he was dying from his wounds by the way our affiliate in utah
03:31uh and the aftermath of the shooting uh you could see people running away pretty quickly as as you
03:38would imagine they would do um at gunshots uh the fbi director cash patel uh has um weighed in on this
03:45he just tweeted the following we're closely monitoring reports of the tragic shooting involving charlie
03:50kirk at utah valley university our thoughts are with charlie his loved ones and everyone affected
03:55agents will be on the scene quickly and the fbi stands in full support of the ongoing response
04:01and the investigation um charlie kirk is a divisive figure um polarizing lightning raw whatever term
04:07you want to use why uh well he's one of maga's most prominent voices online he hosts a near daily
04:15podcast he opines on almost everything he's been very closely aligned with the president uh since his
04:20initial run for office in 2015 2016 and his ties to trump really elevated his own brand um he was
04:27really quite young as an activist when the president launched his initial campaign and he has kind of
04:32ridden along with maga um since 2016 and built up a massive massive brand of his own uh his his group
04:40has brought in tons and tons of money and of course there have been countless democrat party supporters
04:47tweeting out awful things effectively saying that he deserved it now you would expect this from
04:53nut jobs on the internet but what about proper newsrooms the bbc put the words great guy in
04:59quote marks here teen vogue described him as far right and look at this insane intro from the new york
05:06times you would think that the so-called paper of record could simply just report charlie's death
05:12no they had to characterize him first charlie kirk a conservative wunderkind who through his radio show
05:19political organization and speaking tours did much to shape the hard right movement that has coalesced
05:28around president trump becoming a close ally of his now keep in mind we're about 35 words in at this
05:36point before they get to the actual story that he died on wednesday in utah after he'd been shot while
05:42speaking to college campus event disgraceful stuff and then we have tick tockers cretins who delight in
05:48miserably and openly wish death on those who have different political views
06:01i'm not saying she deserved it but i'm saying god's timing is always right
06:06is it any wonder that people turn to independent journalists at a time like this to just get a
06:21normal and reasonable view of what happened and a credit to megan kelly who covered the news with grace
06:27and emotion they're reporting that charlie has died
06:35that he's dead at the age of 31
06:38which he would have to be if that video was real there's no way he survived that
06:54the only good thing is
06:59it had to have happened quickly
07:01it had to have happened quickly right right right
