00:00We are in Leh where roads remain largely deserted. There's a very few and skeletal
00:06movement of the traffic which has been witnessed on the roads. You can see behind me is a police
00:11vehicle which was tossed by the protesters yesterday who descended at this choke and
00:16they also burned down the BJP office which is on the right side of me. The protesters came in large
00:24numbers and they were demanding the sixth schedule and the statute for the Ladakh Union territory
00:29which was cowed out as a separate union territory on August 5, 2019. The protesters are saying that
00:36they need more protection in terms of the jobs and the land. The jobs should go to the local people
00:42only and the non-local should not take up these jobs or buy the land and other property here because
00:49they feel that there could be a demographic change because of this and right now the curfew has been
00:54imposed across the Leh town. The atmosphere is peaceful but a tense situation here in Leh.
