01:43What was your reaction when you read How Things Go Down?

01:46Oh my gosh, I think I was shocked because they wouldn't tell us.

01:49They wouldn't tell us what was happening in the scripts.

01:52It was like week by week.

01:53Can I tell you something funny?

01:54They wouldn't let me read it.

01:56So, because it was locked down.

02:03You had to have like four passwords to access the script.

02:05I found out very late.

02:06I did not receive, yes, I did not receive like that part of the script,

02:09so I really didn't find out until Chris told me one day.

02:12I just remember thinking like, what a beautiful way to end it.

02:19I read the books and always assumed it would be the same way.

02:22I never had any doubts.

02:23That's the arc of the story.

02:25I've enjoyed really just being on the journey with all these guys.

02:34I'm not going to say anything, but I was very shocked.

02:39Did you always intend to end it this way?

02:41I think I, my plan was always Conrad, but I am the kind of writer that is curious

02:48and letting the story like lead me where it's going to go.

02:51And so, you know, when I wrote the books, there were moments where I was like,

02:54you know, I really love Jeremiah as well as I'm writing it, you know?

02:58When you, I think you, especially when you have to write their perspective,

03:01then I think it really opens your mind to them in different ways.

03:05Um, but I think I'm, I'm just really happy with the way that we are too.

03:09We are very happy.

03:13They don't get married like they do in the book.

03:15We had just been through a whole season of a wedding.

03:18And then I think that we needed to get them to the place that they were,

03:22of like reconnection.

03:24So then it would have been like a five minute thing,

03:29a quick little thing to like wrap it up.

03:31And I think to me, I would rather really do justice to the story

03:35that we're telling in the season.

03:38Was any part of you ever leading for a team Conrad?

03:41Because you know how the story is supposed to go.

03:43I think as Jenny intended, you just kind of go on that ride and,

03:53and like follow Belly's heart, I guess,

03:57which is hopefully what we were able to do with the show.

03:59I hope that you were confused sometimes.

04:01Um, but I think it's, yeah, I don't know.

04:04It's all very magical.

04:06I really want her to do whatever's in her heart.

04:09Even if it was being alone.

04:11I didn't pick a side.

04:13I was always team Belly.

04:14And I know some people think that Laurel is team Conrad,

04:16but Laura really is team Belly.

04:18She just wants the best for her daughter.

04:20She just wants her to figure it out on her own

04:22and figure out who's best for her.

04:23Jenny is just a genius.

04:25And so, uh, it was fun to get to work with her

04:28and see where she wanted the story to go.

04:30I gotta know, what did you make of all the crazy fan discourse

04:33over team Jeremiah versus team Conrad this season?

04:35It was definitely heated.

04:37Yes, yes.

04:38Did you hook up with Lacey Barone during spring break?

04:41It happened when we were on a break.

04:43Don't touch me.

04:45We had sex.

04:46you.

04:47Conrad told me he still has feelings for me.

04:49I mean, they were really passionate.

04:51They found any Easter egg.

04:53They found Easter eggs that I think maybe weren't there.

04:56I love all the fan theories.

04:58It's really an honor, I think, for people to care that much

05:02about a story that I thought up in my head, you know?

05:07And then to see people feel big emotions and have their watch parties

05:12and, you know, connect with other people and make friends online.

05:15All of that is, like, really lovely.

05:17I had so many people being like, you know,

05:19Twilight was my version of that,

05:21and to even have that be a comparison is so insane.

05:23What did you make of all the NFL team getting involved in the Conrad vs. Jeremiah?

05:29Oh, my gosh, yeah.

05:30I remember, who was it?

05:31Was it the Chiefs that were like,

05:32I don't even know what that is?

05:33That was funny.

05:34That was really funny.

05:35Team Conrad vs. Jeremiah.

05:37What?

05:38What does that mean?

05:40Team Conrad.

05:41Who are these people?

05:42I know a few people on the Chiefs, like, staff side,

05:47and I'm like, yo, what was that?

07:52But I love this world, and I love these characters,

07:55I love working with Chris and Lola and Sean and Rain.

07:57It's just been such a wonderful journey.

07:59These guys are the best,

08:00so it's been a really great experience.

08:02We worked on it really hard.

08:03Everyone cared a lot about this.

08:05Doing the best that we can do,

08:07so I think that's all you can do.
