00:00Now, I don't know about you, but this episode broke my heart in more ways than one.
00:05Poor Conrad, poor Belly, and, well, I suppose, poor Jeremiah too.
00:10The Summer I Turned Pretty returned this week with episode 7, and this was the most drama-filled episode of the season so far.
00:18Focused on it being three days before the wedding of Belly and Jeremiah, we arrived on the night of The Bachelor and The Bachelorette parties and the build-up to the most controversial wedding that there could be.
00:28Belly was having doubts about the marriage and the focus on Conrad looking out for her for the entirety of her life up until that point was made ever-present, but still, she turned down the man that confessed everything to her.
00:41With an ending that shut down all hopes of Conrad and Belly, let's dive into the episode and discuss all that there was to take away from it.
00:48Here is the Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3 Episode 7 Ending Explained.
00:53Just to let you know, this video will contain spoilers.
00:57Belly
00:58Within this episode, we saw that Belly was still questioning what happened when Conrad injured himself whilst surfing in the previous episode,
01:06and she put down the fact that she almost kissed him because of the stress of the wedding and the fact that it was getting too much for her,
01:12and also because she was on her own planning everything.
01:15We know that she's had doubts about Jeremiah for a long while and they've slowly been rising to the surface,
01:21but in this episode, they quite literally bubbled over due to her taking a substance when out with the girls.
01:27When she was on the dance floor, the song We Can't Be Friends by Ariana Grande was playing,
01:32and whilst she was dancing, all she could think about was Conrad.
01:36The lyrics,
01:36Pair that with the fact that she also found out that it was Conrad that convinced her mother to attend the bridal shower,
01:53getting her to change her mind, something that she didn't think that she was able to do.
01:57When she originally thought that it was Taylor that did it, it showed that Conrad had always looked out for her,
02:03even when she was younger, which was shown to us with the unicorn in the story,
02:07and he was still doing it now as they entered adulthood.
02:10This was why she was left in a state of not quite knowing what to do.
02:14When you then add in the fact that Jeremiah said that he'd agreed to meet Belly on the beach after the parties,
02:19just the two of them before they went to bed and separated that night.
02:22Once again, Jeremiah let her down because he got blackout drunk,
02:26showing that he couldn't truly be there for her.
02:29He's let her down on a number of times in this season,
02:31and this felt like it could be the final nail in the coffin.
02:35She understood that it was his bachelor party, but it was another blow to him not following through.
02:40Right at the end of the episode, after letting everything out to Taylor,
02:43we saw that Conrad was on the beach waiting for Belly.
02:47He was there because he overheard Jeremiah speaking about when he cheated on Belly with Lacey and Cabo,
02:53and she responded and said that she knew.
02:55This was where Conrad again wanted to show that he could be her protector,
03:00picking Belly over his own brother at that moment because he didn't want her to be made a fool of in front of everybody.
03:06And even then, once she admitted that she knew,
03:09Conrad was shocked because he didn't think that she'd be with somebody that would do that to her.
03:13As the climax was building, Conrad ultimately admitted to Belly that he loved her and that he had done for the past four years,
03:20saying that he only let her go back at the motel because he was afraid that eventually he was going to hurt her.
03:26Even though Belly felt the exact same about Conrad and she was in love with him, she didn't admit her feelings.
03:32After all, she said that she pictured that her wedding was going to be with Conrad.
03:36Instead, she let him stand there in tears and said to him how he'd never be what Jeremiah is to her,
03:41and that when they were together, they were nothing.
03:45Honestly, I felt so bad for Conrad, but I get that it put Belly in such a difficult position,
03:50on the spot, a couple of days before her wedding.
03:53Her and Conrad are just so much more suited than what her and Jeremiah are.
03:57He's there to take care of her.
03:59He always has and he always will.
04:01So even though she went back to the room and was in tears,
04:04I think that final knock on the wall that she used to do to Jeremiah to let him know that she was still awake,
04:09with him not being awake and not knocking back,
04:12it's symbolic of the fact that he's not going to be there for her and they won't be together.
04:18Jeremiah and Conrad
04:19Jeremiah and Conrad's relationship in this episode was one that was put to the test.
04:24We saw friction growing between them and it was mainly because Jeremiah was seeing the odd moment
04:29when his brother and Belly were with each other
04:31and it seemed like they were growing closer than he'd like and maybe even closer than before.
04:37Saying things to Conrad like,
04:38and you looked after my girl all summer when Conrad spoke about what he did
04:42and then even saying to him,
04:44Belly and I are going to take care of each other now.
04:46She's my family.
04:47You get that, right?
04:49I think Jeremiah was starting to grow a bit suspicious of Conrad
04:52and the fact that his brother might still have had feelings for his wife to be.
04:56Hence why he was acting in that way,
04:58rolling his eyes at his brother and also seeming relatively distant.
05:01Then on the flip side,
05:03when Jeremiah was speaking about how he cheated on Belly with Lacey,
05:06Conrad was infuriated and you could see the pain that he was in for Belly
05:10because he thought that she didn't know.
05:12But also the upset and disappointment that he had for Jeremiah
05:16because he felt like his brother had let himself down.
05:19That's why he ultimately went and told Belly.
05:22I think the start of this friction is most likely building towards a clash
05:26that we could potentially see at the wedding.
05:27We know that Belly is going to be revealing all to Jeremiah
05:31about herself and Conrad spending time together at the house in Cousins at Christmas
05:34and even though she did nothing wrong,
05:37the lying about it is definitely a form of emotionally cheating
05:40and Jeremiah might not be able to trust that nothing happened,
05:44especially with the way that Conrad has been acting
05:46and the fact that Conrad and Belly spent most of the summer together.
05:50Jeremiah has done wrong before and lied about it,
05:52so that could also be why he's so paranoid at the moment.
05:56I think we're about to see a large falling out between the brothers,
05:59maybe the largest that we've ever seen,
06:01and it could be the end of them as we know it.
06:04But if they do damage their relationship beyond repair,
06:06you never know,
06:07we might end up seeing Conrad and Belly getting there happily ever after.
06:11Stephen and Denise
06:12Did anybody else think that Stephen was a bit out of line in this episode?
06:17I didn't quite feel it was appropriate for him to be hanging around with Denise
06:20the entire time at the bachelor party
06:22and then also saying how he liked her
06:24and that he was happy for Taylor to be his wingman in setting them up together.
06:28Even though she offered, he should have declined it.
06:30I understand it was weird for Taylor to say that,
06:33but I thought Stephen was a bit more caring than that
06:35and would have just been a bit more aware that doing that would actually hurt Taylor's feelings.
06:40But regardless,
06:41he ditched his best friend's bachelor party to hang out with a girl that he liked,
06:44which I also thought was a bit strange from him.
06:47It showed where his priorities were at
06:49and with Conrad even saying to Stephen,
06:51come on, it's Jeremiah's party,
06:53it showed the difference in mindsets between the two co-best men.
06:56It was right at the end of the episode
06:58where we saw Taylor telling Denise that she should call Stephen
07:01because he liked her,
07:03where she also then admitted that she liked him too
07:05and they were both on the cusp of kissing and going to her room.
07:09However, Lucinda being upset and calling Stephen over
07:12was what interrupted it from happening.
07:13Personally, I don't think Stephen and Denise will end up together now.
07:17I think them being on the cusp of kissing each other is the closest that they'll get
07:21and it'll be through Lucinda that Stephen will find out how much Taylor is still in love with him
07:26and it might make him change his mind,
07:29understanding that it was wrong for him to be acting like that with Denise in front of Taylor
07:32and that Taylor was showing a different way of caring for him
07:35despite the fact that it hurts so much.
07:38So I feel we could see Stephen and Taylor potentially rekindle something when they next see each other.
07:45My review of the episode
07:46I thought this was the most drama-filled episode that we've had of the season so far.
07:51It's all been building towards either Comrade speaking with Belly and admitting his feelings
07:55and Belly also addressing hers and it finally ended up happening.
07:59Don't get me wrong, it's not the outcome that I wanted
08:02but the drama that's about to ensue is probably going to be the largest that we've ever seen in the show.
08:07The song choices in this week's episode were literally perfect.
08:11Whether it be Juno by Sabrina Carpenter as Belly was acting like things were okay
08:15with how she was thinking about Comrade
08:17or even the use of Ariana Grande to reinforce the fact that Belly truly believed
08:22that she couldn't be friends with him.
08:23It just worked so well.
08:25Don't get me wrong, as per usual, like every week,
08:28there were some moments that I thought were a bit ridiculous and over-the-top
08:32like Taylor agreeing to be Stephen's wingman
08:34and also Jeremiah's sudden switch-up of character
08:37where he became a bit more paranoid and on edge about his brother.
08:41Something he's not really had in a long time
08:43but for the purpose of the story, I get it.
08:45The thing is, we've now only got four episodes left
08:48until the show concludes forever
08:49so I feel like the stakes are probably going to be at the highest possible now
08:53and we're going to see fallouts, romances and fights
08:57all happening at a rapid pace.
08:59As I've said throughout the entirety of the show,
09:01I'm Team Comrade
09:02and I don't know how anybody could be Team Jeremiah
09:05after seeing how much mature Comrade is now.
