06:22Coming from high school, I realized that not everybody is nice and not everybody's gonna like you no matter how nice you try to be
06:30I witnessed a situation where a freshman was being treated very poorly
06:36And so that night I went home and I told my parents and my parents told the girls parents about it
06:43And they reported it a day later the same people who were there witnessing the situation all of a sudden turned on me
06:49And I've made my senior year horrible
06:51It's so crazy how far people will push just to for the sheer purpose of hurting another person
06:57I mean she's been beat down and she's gone through a lot with school just tough times
07:03I never thought that doing the right thing would backfire
07:08She was the one person to stand up for this girl
07:12I was so proud of her, we still are

13:55It could completely undermine her whole Rush experience

14:39I started Sorority Prep in 2015
14:42I had been involved with sorority recruitment on many campuses
14:46And saw that there was really a lack of knowledge about what to expect
14:51And I really felt like I could fill that gap
14:54We have a lot to get through
14:56But hopefully this is going to help prepare you
14:58We talk about the recruitment rounds
15:00We're going to go through conversation practice
15:02We'll talk about outfits
15:04Leslie is going to be like $1,500
15:06We don't have the money that everybody has
15:10But we're okay with what we have
15:12And if there's just anything I can do to help her

15:18There are five things you don't want to talk about during your sorority recruitment conversation
15:23Boys, booze, Bible, politics, and then financials
15:29Sometimes the sorority women like to be tricky
15:31And see if they can catch you
15:33So, Jansen, you're in a sorority party
15:37And the girl says to you
15:38So what do you like to do on the weekends?
15:41Um
15:41One of my friends has a lake house
15:45And so we go there a lot
15:46Do y'all party while you're there?
15:48Like, are you into partying?
15:51Parties kind of lead to bad things sometimes

15:58If you feel like that is kind of where she's trying to lead you
16:01You can totally change the conversation
16:04And you can ask a question to them
16:07So I want to prepare you all for one of the most important things
16:10Recruitment does not start when you step onto your campus
16:13It has started now
16:15Because as soon as you submit that registration
16:18The sorority women have already started to research you
16:21Sorority girls are like the FBI
16:23They will find out everything about you
16:27We're going to do a little experiment

16:30So we're going to look at them

17:11And a girl from back home sees you in that party
17:15You don't want anything that could potentially hurt you
17:19To come up in recruitment
17:20If you feel like there's something out there about you
17:22You clear it up
17:23So when I was considering where I was going to go to college
17:26I did know that there were some people at Arkansas
17:29That I went to school with
17:30Who might have heard some untrue things or some rumors
17:33So let's say Jansen
17:34Is there anything you feel like you're fearful or worried about
17:38That's going to come up during recruitment?
17:40Obviously, there's rumors that I'm worried about
17:43That are so far from true
17:45Sometimes high school rumors follow you into recruitment
17:48It doesn't always happen
17:50But it can
17:51The key thing to remember is you can't control
17:54What's whispered in the hallways or the group chats
17:57But you can control how you carry yourself
18:00How you walk in with confidence
18:02And how you own your own story
18:05It was a really, really hard time for me
18:07Yeah, that's super hard
18:09You want to cover your back
18:12So that that doesn't come back to hurt you
18:14And so I think you need to be prepared
18:16I think part of what your response should be
18:20For why you're looking for a sisterhood
18:22Is to sort of call it out a little bit
18:24Because they could already know
18:26They could potentially know something
18:28You have to be strong to survive rush week
18:31It's like preparing soldiers for war
18:33For this battle that's happening on this campus
18:36To get these bids
18:37It's vicious on the inside
18:39There's going to be a lot of rejection during rush week
18:47You may fall in love with a particular house
18:49But if they don't love you back
18:50You ain't getting invited
18:52It may be 98 degrees heat out there
18:54And your hair could be falling flat
18:55Are you going to cry in the corner?
18:57Are you still going to soar
18:58And present yourself in the best way possible?
19:00How are you going to handle rejection?
19:01I was a freshman in college
19:03I was dropped from the sorority rush process
19:05It was probably one of the most traumatizing
19:08And most crushing things that has ever happened to me
19:11I was also dropped as a freshman
19:12And I thought that my life was over
19:14Nothing is worse than doing your best
19:17And still losing
19:19And that's what rejection feels like
