At the UN General Assembly 2025, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan delivered a fiery address, urging nations to recognize a Palestinian state and calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza. Erdogan accused Israel of committing “genocide” and denounced its attacks on Qatar, Syria, Iran, Yemen, and Lebanon, declaring that Tel Aviv is “completely out of control.” His speech has intensified global debate on the Gaza crisis, fueling diplomatic tensions as pressure mounts on world leaders to act on Palestine’s statehood and the humanitarian crisis.

00:00Thank you so much for watching.
00:30I would like to recall here again the first words of the first article of the UN Charter, quote,
00:38the purpose of the United Nations is to maintain international peace and security, unquote.
00:48As we celebrate the 80th anniversary of the UN in this hall, grave events are unfolding in many parts of the world
00:57that cast a shadow over the very first words of the UN Charter's opening article.
01:05Particularly in Gaza, right before our very eyes, genocide has been going on for over 700 days now.
01:19Even as we gather here, as we speak now, Israel is currently massacring civilians in Gaza.
01:26The number of civilian casualties in Gaza has surpassed 65,000.
01:35Unfortunately, the number of people who are still trapped under the rubble is not yet known,
01:42and more than 20,000 of those who died were children.
01:47For the last 23 months, a child has been murdered by Israel in Gaza every hour.
01:55Yes, every hour.
01:58These are not just figures, dear friends.
02:02All of these, each one of these is a person, a human being, innocent people.
02:07People are now being killed, not with weapons, but with the weapon of starvation.
02:16In the 21st century, under the gaze of the civilized world, 428 people died of starvation.
02:24Out of those 428, 146 were children, and this number is increasing every day.
02:34Now, I will show you a photo, which is a picture from daily life in Gaza.
02:42The first photo, as you see, these are people.
02:51These are women with these cups that they are holding in their hands, cups and buckets.
02:59Just feel your conscience and answer the following question.
03:07Can we possibly have a reasonable reason for this brutality in 2025?
03:15But this shameful picture in Gaza has been unfolding and is being repeated every day for 23 months now.
03:25And there are 2.5 million Gazans who live in 365 square kilometers.
03:34And every day, what happens is they are being dragged from one place to another.
03:42The healthcare infrastructure of Gaza is completely collapsed.
03:48Doctors have been killed or they have disappeared while under custody.
03:52Ambulances have been hit, hospitals targeted and destroyed.
03:56Treatment is not possible.
03:58Surgery is not possible.
04:00It's not possible to find medications.
04:03Now, dear friends, now, as Tayyip Erdogan with a heavy heart, with my heart bleeding here,
04:12I am telling you, innocent little ones, just two or three years old, without hands, arms or legs,
04:23have become, unfortunately, a common sight to see in Gaza.
04:28This one, what kind of a human conscience can possibly bear this?
04:43Possibly.
04:45How can one stay silent vis-a-vis this?
04:49In a world where children are dying of starvation and lack of medication, can we possibly have calm and peace?
04:57We all are parents.
04:59We have children or grandchildren who we dearly cherish.
05:05Here, say, in America or in Europe, anywhere in the world, when a small rose thorn hurts a child's hand,
05:15the hearts of parents break.
05:18But in Gaza, children's hands, arms and legs are being amputated without anesthesia.
05:27Now, I'm extremely sorry to say, but this represents the lowest point of humanity.
05:37Human history has not witnessed such bloodshed within the last century.
05:45All of this is happening before our very eyes.
05:49The genocide in Gaza is being broadcast live every moment through the media and social media.
06:01So far, Israel has deliberately killed 250 journalists working in national and international media in Gaza.
06:10And they have closed all the entrants into Gaza, but they still have not been able to cover up the genocide.
06:27I wholeheartedly support Secretary General Guterres because he consistently draws attention to the ongoing genocide in Palestinian territories.
06:37And I would like to once again congratulate him for his courage.
06:46But the United Nations has not even been able to protect its own personnel in Gaza, unfortunately.
06:58In Gaza, 500 people rushing to help others have been killed.
07:02Out of those 500, 326 were UN staff members.
07:10Esteemed president, distinguished members.
07:14Now,
07:18genocide, like the Holocaust, is a shameful concept which refers to the mass extermination of people.
07:26It's a barbaric concept.
07:27But today, it's not only people who are being killed in Gaza, mind you.
07:35Animals are being targeted and killed in Gaza.
07:40In Gaza, agricultural land, gardens, trees, grass,
07:46century-old olive trees are being destroyed.
07:50In Gaza, water supplies are being destroyed and polluted.
07:59Buildings, homes, libraries, hospitals, schools, mosques, churches, and historical structures in Gaza are being deliberately destroyed.
08:11The soil of Gaza is being rendered useless for humans, for animals, for animals, and for plants.
08:20So, now, let me show you yet another photo.
08:28And let me ask you here.
08:30Look at this photo.
08:34What could this photo here possibly have to do with security concerns?
08:40This is being against life.
08:45Don't you think?
08:47Let me state this openly from this podium.
08:49There is no war in Gaza.
08:52We cannot possibly talk about the presence of two sides in Gaza.
08:57Because in Gaza, on one side, there is a regular army with the most modern, most lethal weapons.
09:04And on the other hand, there are innocent civilians, innocent children.
09:09This is not fight against terrorism.
09:11This is an occupation, deportation, exile, genocide, and life destruction, mass destruction policy carried out by invoking the events of October the 7th.
09:28Today, while Gaza is being destroyed under the pretext of Hamas, concurrently, simultaneously, the West Bank, where Hamas is not in power, is also being occupied step by step, and innocent civilians are being massacred through executions.
09:47Moreover, Israel is not limiting itself to Gaza and the West Bank only.
09:52By launching attacks on Syria, on Iran, Yemen, and Lebanon, Israel is also threatening regional peace.
10:01Just recently, an Israeli attack took place against a delegation meeting in Qatar for ceasefire negotiations.
10:13The attack on Qatar has also shown that the Israeli leadership is now completely out of control.
10:23Netanyahu is not obviously interested in forging peace or releasing the hostages.
10:36Not only Israel's neighbors, but all countries in the Middle East are subject to the Israeli government's reckless threats.
10:45And we must realize the following.
10:49Due to the increasing aggression of Israel, in Europe and the West in general, the values that emerged after the Second World War have been eroded.
11:03The most fundamental human rights, such as freedom of expression, freedom of the press, freedom of assembly and protest, women's rights, children's rights, democracy, equality, and justice, have been shelved away.
11:21At this point, we all have to see the following truth, my dear friends.
11:31The Israeli government, driven by an obsession with the promised lands, is openly threatening regional peace and the shared values of humanity.
11:42Three celestial religions, Jerusalem hosts all three celestial religions, and a common inherited holy place, Al-Quds, is holy for all three religions.
12:08This madness disturbs conscientious Jews.
12:14It fuels anti-Semitism around the world.
12:17We cannot continue with this madness anymore.
12:27We have to have ceasefire in Gaza as soon as possible.
12:30Attacks should stop.
12:32Humanitarian aid should be able to enter with no obstacles.
12:36The genocide team should be held accountable vis-à-vis international law.
12:47And God willing, this will definitely happen.
12:53Vis-à-vis the barbarity taking place in Gaza.
12:56Everyone who is keeping silent is accomplice to this barbarity.
13:02From here, I would like to call on all the heads of state and government.
13:11Today is the day.
13:15Today is the day to stand firm alongside the oppressed Palestinians and alongside humanity.
13:22While your people's back home are reacting to the barbarity in Gaza, do show the courage to take action here.
13:32Fulfill your humanitarian duty toward Gaza, where children are raising children.
13:40On this occasion, I would like to say the following.
13:51There are peoples all around the world who are taken to the streets.
13:55Unarmed activists and volunteers from different countries of the world, academicians, students, journalists,
14:04everyone, all the defenders of Palestine.
14:08I would like to say to them.
