00:00Timor Leste President Dr. Jose Ramos Horta hailed Prime Minister Datuk Sri Anwar Ibrahim's
00:08inaugural two-day visit as a testament to the enduring friendship between the two nations,
00:13recalling Malaysia's steadfast support during Timor Leste's struggle for independence.
00:19At a joint press conference in Dili on Tuesday, Ramos Horta said discussions were constructive
00:24and forward-looking, focusing on Malaysian investments in agribusiness, tourism and
00:30renewable energy, as well as education and vocational training for Timorese youth.
00:36He also announced that Anwar would be conferred the Grand Collar of the Order of Timor Leste,
00:41the nation's highest award, in recognition of his long-standing advocacy and Malaysia's
00:46role in supporting the country's ASEAN aspirations, especially as the ASEAN Chair for 2025.
00:53Anwar, highlighting his personal friendship with Ramos Horta, described the visit as both
00:58official and personal, rooted in shared history and Malaysia's consistent support before and
01:04after independence.
01:06He also underscored priorities in trade, investment, tourism, education and defense cooperation,
01:13while welcoming the participation of Petronas and Malaysian private firms.
01:18Timor Leste will formally join ASEAN as its 11th member at the 47th ASEAN Summit in Kuala
01:24Lumpur next month.
01:26Earlier, Anwar was accorded a ceremonial welcome at the Presidential Palace, marking the start
01:31of his official program, which concludes Tuesday with a state dinner co-hosted by Ramos Horta
01:37and Prime Minister Kei Rala-Zanana Guzmau.
