00:00So today, to revive the hope of peace and a two-state solution, I state clearly as Prime
00:10Minister of this great country that the United Kingdom formally recognises the State of Palestine.
00:21We recognised the State of Israel more than 75 years ago as a homeland for the Jewish people.
00:28Today, we join over 150 countries who recognise a Palestinian state also.
00:38A pledge to the Palestinian and Israeli people that there can be a better future.
00:46Today, I'm pleased to be here with Minister Wong to announce that effective today,
00:50Sunday 21 September 2025, the Commonwealth of Australia recognises the State of Palestine.
00:59We have had in Australia a long-term position on a bipartisan basis of two states.
01:06One of those states is, of course, Israel. The other, of course, is Palestine.
01:12And this recognition being announced today in sync with our international partners,
01:20the United Kingdom and Canada, means that three of the Five Eyes nations are all making this decision today.
01:28We recognise the legitimate and long-held aspirations of the people of Palestine, of a State of their own.
01:36Today, the 21st of September 2025, the State of Portuguese, officially recognizes the State of Palestine.
01:45The declaration of recognition, here proclamated,
01:49is directly from the deliberation of the Council of Ministries of the past day 18th of September,
01:54the time is coming.
02:06The time is coming.
02:08That's why,
02:10fidel to the historical commitment of my country in the North Pole,
02:16for the peace between the Israeli people and the Palestinian people.
02:24I declare that France recognizes, today, the State of Palestine.
02:32Recognizing the State of Palestine, led by the Palestinian Authority, empowers those
02:37who seek peaceful coexistence and the end of Hamas. It doesn't legitimize terrorism.
02:44And in no way does it compromise Canada's steadfast support for the State of Israel,
02:50its people and their security. Because that security can only be ultimately guaranteed
02:56through the achievement of a comprehensive two-state solution.
