00:00Here's today's Derbyshire Times video bulletin.
00:04Derbyshire's highways chief has told how the authority has been unable to find an operator to replicate a bus service which now bypasses Aurora village and has left residents feeling isolated and stranded.
00:15The commercially run number 55 bus used to stop in Morton before it was rerouted after Hullies of Baslow ceased trading earlier this year and Notts and Derbyshire buses took over the service and removed the village stop.
00:28Since then campaigners who have described the number 55 bus as a vital lifeline for Morton have been appealing for help because the only alternative villagers now have is a dialer bus with bookings on demand which they describe as inadequate for their needs.
00:43Derbyshire County Council's former Conservative administration and the newly elected Reform UK led administration have both sought to reinstate and even possibly subsidise the Morton route service.
00:52But now the county's highways chief, Councillor Charlotte Hill, has confirmed that the authority has been unable to find any operator to replace the commercial service.
01:03A Derbyshire couple is set to save £18,000 a year by ditching the UK for Asia to world school their children who they say are too young to sit behind a desk.
01:14James Humphrey Stone, 38, and Hayley Griffiths, 42, are currently touring South Asia after giving up their lives in Alpherton.
01:21The pair are travelling with their children, Margot, who is three, and Stanley, who is five, and should have been starting his first year at school this month.
01:30Instead, the family have sold most of their belongings, including their car, and rented out their home so they can travel the world and explore.
01:36They believe the outdated education system isn't right for their kids, who they say are too young to be sitting behind a desk all day.
01:45And they will even have made a profit when they finally return, as their trip works out at £1,500 a month cheaper than currently living in the UK.
01:53I hope they are very close to the UK.
01:54Thank you very much.
