00:00Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we're counting down our picks for the time celebrities face
00:10the disapproving wrath of a live audience. We'll be excluding musical artists and politicians,
00:15however, as they deserve a list of their own.
00:17Well, let me tell you something, brother!
00:23Number 10. Kendall and Kylie Jenner.
00:30Award show audiences can be tough, and the Billboard Music Awards crowd is among the
00:37most unforgiving. In 2015, sisters Kendall and Kylie Jenner found this out the hard way,
00:42stepping on stage to introduce their then-brother-in-law Kanye West. The reality
00:46stars were met with a wave of audible boos from pockets of the audience. Clearly facing a crowd
00:58that wasn't thrilled to have them there, the sisters managed to keep their composure by smiling
01:02through the awkwardness and pressing on with the intro.
01:04Please welcome Kanye West.
01:07This, of course, wasn't the only time a member of the Kardashian clan found themselves on the
01:11receiving end of an audience's ire. More on that later.
01:14Number 9. Pete Davidson.
01:16Pete Davidson got a not-so-great welcome when he went to a basketball game in Syracuse, New York,
01:20this weekend.
01:21When Saturday Night Live alum Pete Davidson popped up on the Jumbotron at an early 2022
01:25Syracuse basketball game, the crowd wasted no time letting him have it.
01:29The 28-year-old comedian is booed by fans as he appears on the Jumbotron at Syracuse's
01:35Carrier Dome.
01:41The boos were instant and deafening, seemingly payback for the time the comedian called Syracuse
01:46trash on The Howard Stern Show, giving an overall negative review of the city.
01:50Back in 2018, Pete and MGK filmed the movie Big Time Adolescents in the City.
01:56And that September, Pete said on Syracuse XM's The Howard Stern Show,
02:00Dude, I was shooting this movie out in Syracuse.
02:03Syracuse, you know, it's trash.
02:05With the reaction airing live on ESPN2, Davidson took it in stride, clapping, waving, and even
02:10offering a peace gesture to the very fans tearing into him.
02:13Poor Pete learned that when you insult the crowd, you shouldn't be surprised when they
02:17fire back.
02:17Number 8, Sashin Littlefeather on behalf of Marlon Brando.
02:22When Marlon Brando sent Sashin Littlefeather to boldly take the stage to decline his Best
02:26Actor Award of the 45th Academy Awards for his role in The Godfather, the crowd took aim.
02:31Donning a buckskin dress and moccasins, she was met not with applause, but with jeers,
02:36all as she denounced Hollywood's treatment of Native Americans.
02:39She says she was subjected to insults as she left the stage.
02:42However, Littlefeather's composure under pressure was striking, as she upheld Brando's message
02:48despite the volatile reception, which reportedly included John Wayne attempting to storm the
02:52stage.
02:53I was distressed that people should have booed and whistled and stomped, even though perhaps
02:59it was directed that myself, they should have at least had the courtesy to listen to her.
03:06This became one of the most controversial moments in Oscar history, polarizing viewers and industry
03:11insiders alike.
03:13Number 7, Hulk Hogan.
03:15At Netflix's much-anticipated WWE Raw debut at the sprawling Intuit Dome in Inglewood, LA,
03:21professional wrestling legend Hulk Hogan made a special appearance.
03:24However, flanked by his manager Jimmy Hart and energized by his Real American Beer partnership
03:30with Netflix, the Hulkster found himself facing an uncharacteristic chorus of boos.
03:35The negative reaction from the crowd seemingly underscored the Los Angeles fans' fractured
03:39views on Hogan's late career scandals and political standings.
03:43Well, let me tell you something, brother!
03:45Sadly, this salty reception would mark Hulk's final WWE appearance as the 12-time wrestling
03:54world champion would pass away just a few months later in July 2025.
03:59Number 6, Emma Stone and Dave McCary.
04:01During a 2022 Mets game at Citi Field, cameras revealed actress Emma Stone and her comedy writer
04:07husband Dave McCary in attendance.
04:09Unfortunately, they were shown to be clad head-to-toe in San Diego Padres gear.
04:14Naturally, loyal Mets fans responded with boos loud enough to fill the stadium.
04:24The Mets were hosting the game in New York City, so many of the hometown fans audibly
04:28booed the couple's outfits.
04:30But Stone and McCary raised their drink and cheered to the camera and the booing masses.
04:34Emma, the cheeky champ, shrugged it off with a smile.
04:37She shook it off like a pro.
04:38The incident became a moment of game-faced grace for the celeb couple, who showed that
04:42even when the crowd throws shade, it's best to toast them in return.
04:46Number 5, Elon Musk.
04:48Comedian Dave Chappelle brought out Elon Musk on stage and Musk was booed for several minutes.
04:53On December 11, 2022, Elon Musk made a surprise appearance at the end of a Dave Chappelle comedy
04:58show at the Chase Center in San Francisco, a city where Musk had just made major headlines
05:03for his controversial takeover of Twitter.
05:06As soon as Chappelle introduced him, the tech billionaire was met with a loud, sustained
05:10wave of boos from the 18,000-strong crowd.
05:23Chappelle tried to smooth things over with jokes like,
05:25it sounds like some of those people you fired are in the audience.
05:28As for Musk, he managed a sheepish grin and a few short comments before retreating.
05:32The moment went viral, cementing it as one of Musk's most merciless audience roastings.
05:37And I think, you know, he's been tweeting essentially a lot of right-wing politics,
05:42and so when he shows up in San Francisco at a comedy show, tough reception.
05:47Number 4, Michael Richards.
05:48In 2006, Michael Richards was still riding high on his legacy as Kramer from Seinfeld,
05:54but that goodwill evaporated in seconds during an out-infamous set at the Laugh Factory.
06:00I'm out.
06:00After a few heckles from the crowd, Richards exploded into a racist tirade,
06:05hurling offensive jokes and repeated racial slurs in a meltdown that stunned the room.
06:10You guys have been talking and talking and talking!
06:14I don't know, I don't know, I don't know!
06:16Audible gasps and boos rippled through the room as they instantly turned on him.
06:21The moment was caught on camera, went viral almost instantly,
06:24and left viewers at home just as shocked as those in the venue.
06:27Richards issued an apology, but the damage was done,
06:29and his once-beloved career never truly recovered.
06:32I lost my temper on stage.
06:34Number 3, Tiffany Haddish.
06:36Comedian Tiffany Haddish seemed destined to light up the stage
06:39on a sold-out New Year's Eve show at Miami's James L. Knight Center in 2018.
06:44Unfortunately, she did the opposite.
06:46You see, Haddish, who admitted to partying until the wee hours of the morning,
06:50awkwardly stumbled through her act and punchlines.
06:53And in this video from TMZ, you can see people started walking out.
06:58Tiffany did post this video before her show talking about how she was partying the night before in Miami.
07:03As the booze grew and people began to leave, the comedian grabbed a bottle of Ciroc.
07:07She said,
07:08This is weird for me, and further confessed to the hostile crowd.
07:11I really wanted to talk about some stuff, and it's like, I can't remember none of you.
07:17Marking a rare misstep for the funny star.
07:19You signed a contract, you gotta stand up there for 60 minutes, and you gotta take it.
07:22You gotta take it.
07:23Number 2, Michael Moore.
07:25The 75th Academy Awards show saw the film Chicago walk away as the night's big winner.
07:30But, it was perhaps Michael Moore, who left the Kodak Theater as its biggest headline.
07:35Winning Best Documentary Feature for Bowling for Columbine, Moore's win began with cheers.
07:40However, thanks to a fiery acceptance speech that denounced then-president George W. Bush and the Iraq War,
07:46Moore was met with a wave of boos.
07:47We live in a time where we have a man sending us to war for fictitious reasons.
07:55Whether it's the fictition of duct tape, or the fictitious of orange alerts.
08:01We are against this war, Mr. Bush.
08:04Shame on you, Mr. Bush. Shame on you.
08:06The backlash grew so loud, that the orchestra cut him off before he could finish.
08:10Some 15 years later, at the 2018 Critics' Choice Documentary Awards,
08:14Moore finally delivered the speech he'd been silenced from giving.
08:17Keep picking up those cameras, everyone here in this room.
08:20Because the people gathered here tonight, you may be America's last line of defense.

08:40Number 1. Kim Kardashian
08:44At Tom Brady's star-studded Netflix roast, the only person who took more heat than the man of the hour was Kim Kardashian.
08:51That's because the Skims founder was met with a wall of brutal boos as she took the stage at the live-streamed event.
08:56Still, Kim powered through, delivering her set, and eventually winning over some cheers.
09:12Give you the same advice that I give all my exes.
09:15Good luck knowing the best is behind you.
09:17Congratulations, Tom.
09:19Cheers, everyone, to Tom Brady.
09:21Afterward, she admitted the experience rattled her, saying she'd never do a roast again because it was not good for the soul.
09:27She also confessed,
09:28Kim chalked up the hostile reception to the stadium being full of sports fans who, in her words, hate the Kardashians.
09:37Which of these audience reactions do you deem the most brutal?
09:39Let us know in the comments below.
09:41Is it boos? I'm sure some people were happy, but does it sound like mostly boos to you?
09:45And that was in Silicon Valley. That's his hometown.
09:51Nice to meet you.
10:08Cheers.
