00:00Donald Trump would rather shut down the government than even talk to Democrats
00:04about lowering the cost of health care for Americans, which is what is our goal.
00:10And Republicans, unfortunately, sadly, dutifully obeyed.
00:15Senate Republicans just voted to shut the government down with a partisan bill
00:19that gives Donald Trump everything he wants and nothing the American people need.
00:24To my Republican colleagues, inaction is not an option.
00:30If you want Democratic votes, you need to work with us.
00:35Compromise is a very basic principle every American understands.
00:40And if Republicans don't bother working with Democrats just because Donald Trump said so,
00:46it will be a Republican shutdown.
00:49Republicans control all of government.
00:51The House, the Senate, the White House, the American people know who to blame.
00:55The bare minimum here is for Republican leadership to simply sit down with Democratic leadership to hammer out a path forward.
01:06Like I said before, I've been available now for weeks.
01:10And the Democrats seem more intent, as has been pointed out, in satisfying, I think, their very leftist base,
01:21who is desperately wanting to see a government shutdown because they think it's politically advantageous to do that,
01:26rather than keep the government funded.
01:28Republicans want to keep the government open.
01:29And the Democrats, based on what I believe is the Schumer strategy, is a shutdown strategy.
01:35It is their goal to shut down the government.
01:38The left wing of their party is demanding it.
01:42And Chuck Schumer is snakebit.
01:44He's afraid to do anything that they won't want him to do.
