Design is a vital force in life, a catalyst for our growth and adaptation. It enables us to navigate change, weaving through our personal and social worlds while reflecting our strengths and flaws. Many designers strive to shape new behaviors, targeting habits and situations ripe for transformation. Pirouette: Turning Points in Design showcases objects that pushed boundaries with innovative materials, technologies, and ideas; tackled everyday challenges in novel ways; and left a lasting mark on both design and society.

Drawn primarily from MoMA’s collection, the exhibition includes iconic pieces like the I ♥️ NY logo, alongside lesser-known works cherished by niche enthusiasts and specialists. Some redefine notions of exclusivity and luxury, while others, such as the Walkman Portable Audio Cassette Player or the Macintosh 128K Home Computer, reshaped personal space by bringing the world into our homes or letting us carry it with us. Collectively, these objects reveal designers at their most creative and impactful, illustrating design’s ability to transform human experiences into concrete forms and imagine a brighter future. The exhibition runs until November 15, 2025.
