Learn how to make a magical book lamp with nothing more than paper, copper-wire fairy lights and a bit of scoring. 00:00Hey hey, today we will turn a plain sheet of paper into a pop-up book lamp.

00:12Grab a 30-Tiletter E01-Tiletter E2121cm sheet and mark a line every 1cm.

00:22Leave a 6cm border top and bottom, then score each mark with an awl for easy folding.

00:27I have drawn the lines darker so you can see them clearly.

00:35Add a 1cm strip along the top and bottom lines, then draw diagonals in each square to make tiny triangles.

00:45Keep the triangles pointing the same direction on every square.

00:48Score the triangle edges with the awl, skip the middle lines.

00:59This is your lampshade template.

01:07First, concertina fold along the short side.

01:23Open it up and fold the long outer edges.

01:25Pinch the side triangles to shape the pleats.

02:15Add stickers or washi tape before folding if you like.

02:21Cut a piece of card for the book cover.

02:27Glue the copper wire fairy lights in place.
