00:00I don't think anyone would have picked the last five years of success we've had but I know that
00:05it's come down to a lot of hard work and and and every year it's brought its own challenges on but
00:10to be here again this this time of the year when everyone wants to be here on the last day
00:14in September is a great feeling. What keeps the club motivated? Yeah we've had to reset our goals
00:22at the start of every year. I think our biggest driving factor this year was we lost I think
00:26nine or ten first graders from now from our team that won it last year so that we had to reset we
00:31had to bring some new blokes into the club some some juniors up through the ranks and obviously
00:36the one driving factor this year is to be the first ever team to win it four in a row it's not
00:40something we really spoke about early on but later on the year as we got close to it and obviously
00:45most recently since making the grand final having the opportunity to be the first ever team in the
00:49Newcastle comp to win four in a row is a pretty cool experience. What's the process though on grand
00:54final day to ensure you get the job done? Yeah it's um and it's basically being ready for an
00:5980 minute war against Cessna they're always physical they're big skillful backs um but we
01:05just want to control what you can control grand final footy is about doing all the lumber centers
01:09right not not clocking off on your mate on the inside just doing all the small things right
01:13and trying to grind out a win because there's no doubt I know they'll come here hurting after what
01:17happened here a couple weeks ago against them and they'll be a completely different beast on Sunday
01:21so mate just looking after what we can do um and hopefully everything goes to the plan we uh we
01:27walk off with the trophy. But the team's really growing into the season I think the last probably
01:32six weeks with has been signs that you you're you see what you got to do and and you you're feeling
01:39that as a group. Yeah it felt it felt clunky at the start of the year which I think is probably probably
01:44fair and we did we had such a new contingency of blokes come in and it really took our time to basically
01:48gel and find our feet but you're right it feels like maybe since sleepies day since a really tough
01:53fort wind down there in the mud other than our slip up against curry we've we put some really good um
01:58performance together and and ground out some tough wins and and walked away with some obviously great
02:04wins that we had here in the first semi um a couple weeks ago so I feel like we're in a good position but
02:08I've not taken Cessna one bit lightly mate they've they'll come wanting to basically end our streak and
02:14and take first premiership home for them for a while. Well it is it is just such a an incredible
02:20you know feat the four because when you look at the teams that have done it yeah there's the three
02:25west the the great bandy adams's team yeah and that curry team which was just phenomenal under
02:31Steve Lenane so it's great company. Oh it's great company um and we'll never really compare ourselves to
02:37other areas because they obviously played on different rules with interchanges and
02:40and and just the the different toughness of the game that brought back then but we're doing the best
02:44we can in the comp we're playing in right now and if you tell us that 2020 that we're basically going
02:48to go on and win the next four obviously COVID in 2021 ended that chance but effectively win the
02:54next four competitions we play in um yeah we've taken that every day of the week and obviously
02:59adding the President's Cups that we won along the way we've had a really good run but we don't want to end this Sunday
