00:24predicting if global temperatures rise above three degrees, there could be up to 185,000 residential buildings in the state at very high risk
00:34of exposure to floods, bushfires, tropical cyclones and heat waves.
00:39I'm really concerned this is going to mean that homes are going to be uninsurable, people are going to have to move.
00:44At McEwen's beach south of Mackay, erosion is a persistent threat.
00:49Locals paid for their own rock wall here almost ten years ago.

01:26It also lays bare the health risks from longer, more severe heat waves.

01:34At three degrees of warming, heat-related deaths in Townsville could rise by a staggering 335%.
01:41We know that in Queensland our population can be quite vulnerable.
01:45Our population is ageing.
01:47The federal government plans to develop an action agenda with the states by the end of 2026.
