00:00Today I'm reviewing the Trulap 8592 adjustable dumbbells. Combine these two dumbbells, replace
00:0552 dumbbells. So they go from eight and a half to 92 pounds in three and three and a half pound
00:11increments. Each one of these will give you 26 dumbbells. So small amount of space taken up,
00:17perfect for the home gym. Let's get right into it. I'm going to start with the build. As you can
00:20tell, the weight plates are very shiny. They're iron plates, but they have a stainless steel
00:24finish to them, which is good because it prevents rust, but it also gives them that nice shiny look.
00:29Now there's 12 weight plates on each side of the handle. They're very thin weight plates and that's
00:34a good thing because you don't want this to get too big where it becomes uncomfortable when you're
00:38going up to 92 pounds. So I'm going to pull out the handle here. As you can see, they're very thin
00:44plates. Each plate has a male piece on the top, female piece on the bottom, and then they interconnect
00:49between each other. And that's what keeps them upright when they're on the cradle. And also
00:54that's what keeps them in place when they're on the handle, when I'm exercising. Now the handle,
00:59itself, it's made out of aluminum. And then the internal components, they're made of hard plastic.
01:05So I've had these dumbbells for two years. I haven't had any issues with the hard plastic,
01:10but if there was something that would be the weakest part, it would be that the internal
01:14components, the gears that are hard plastic. But again, I've had this for two years. I haven't had
01:19any issues. They continue to work without a problem. The handle's a little bit on the thicker
01:22side. It's 37 millimeters in diameter. So if you have smaller hands or you just don't like thick
01:27handles, then this might not be a good option for you. It's five inches long. So there's plenty
01:32of space there for bigger hands. And then it has a medium knurling to it. Now the handle is what I
01:37use to change the weights on the dumbbell. So first of all, it has to be on the base for me to be able
01:42to turn the handle. And all I do is just turn it one way to add weight, turn it the other way,
01:47the opposite way to decrease weight. So very easy to use, very fast to change.
01:51Now, the reason it doesn't change when it's off the base, as you can tell right here, I can't turn
01:58it. It's because there's a couple of buttons under the dumbbell here that interact with the base,
02:05with the cradle. So when it's off the base, those buttons can be pushed. So the handle is locked in
02:10place and that's just a safety mechanism. And when I want to change the weight, I put it back on the
02:16cradle and now those buttons are being pushed by the cradle and now I can turn the handle. So that's
02:21just a safety mechanism. But as far as the handle goes, it's 37 millimeters in thickness,
02:26five inches in length, medium knurling, very easy to turn whenever you want to change weight.
02:31When it comes to weight increments, these go up in three and three and a half pound increments,
02:34which I'm not used to. I'm used to two and a half pounds, five pounds and 10 pounds.
02:38Now, if you're somebody that works out and keeps track of your workouts,
02:41this can get a little bit confusing if you have multiple sets of dumbbells. If you only have one
02:46pair of dumbbells of the TruLab dumbbells, that it doesn't make a difference because you're only
02:50logging what this gives you, not comparing it to other dumbbells. But as far as weight increments
02:55go, I like that they have the small micro jumps. They don't have the big jumps, like 10 pounds in
03:00between. So it can be a little bit confusing initially, but once you get used to them, it's
03:06not a big deal. Now, as far as safety goes, the dumbbells are very safe and they're not going to
03:09come off the handle when it's off the base. I showed you earlier how the handle, it locks in
03:14place when it's off the base. So now I'm going to show you how the handle and the weight plates
03:18interact with each other to stay safe. So there's two plates here. Remember I showed you
03:23that there's a male piece and female piece on each one of these plates and that helps
03:27them to lock in place, interlock with each other. Now, this prevents them from coming
03:31apart sideways, but they can still slide up and down. And that's where the inner rod here
03:37comes into play. There's an inner rod inside the handle that as I turn the handle, as I increase
03:42in weight, it's going to be going through the plates here and that's what keeps them from sliding
03:47up and down. So they're going to be safe. They're going to have that handle that keeps them in place
03:51here. They interlock between each other so they're not coming apart sideways. And then the handle is
03:57locked when it's off the base. So this is completely safe. And when it comes to price, they sell for
04:01800 bucks, which seems like a lot to pay up front. But remember, I'm getting 26 pairs of dumbbells here
04:06or a whole rack of dumbbells and a small amount of space. Now, if I were to buy a traditional set of
04:11dumbbells with a whole rack, that would be way more than 800 bucks. So this is actually a good price.
04:16And when I compare these to other adjustable dumbbells in the market, this is actually a
04:20better deal because I get more weight increments for about the same or less price. For example,
04:26the Snowed adjustable dumbbells, there's eight pairs of dumbbells for 800 bucks.
04:29And then I have the Newell belt dumbbells, which gives me 16 pairs of dumbbells for 845 bucks.
04:34So as far as the price goes, I think this is a fair price for the amount of weight adjustments I get
04:39and the little amount of space they take. So I've had these for two years without any issues and they
04:44have a three-year warranty. Now, these are not meant to be dropped. However, one thing I like
04:47about Trulap's warranty is I'll give you a one-time drop warranty where they'll replace the dumbbells
04:53if you drop them by mistake with no questions asked, as long as they are within that three-year
04:57warranty. But as far as durability goes, I've had them for two years. They look brand new. They feel
05:03brand new. I haven't had any issues with them. Now I'll give you my pros and cons. I'll start with
05:07the cons. One con that I have is that there is a small rattle to it. If I move it around,
05:12you can hear that small rattle. Nothing major that's going to throw me off balance,
05:15but that's just something that's there. Very common in many adjustable dumbbells. Another con
05:21that I have is that sometimes when I'm re-racking the handle, it may not see it happening right now.
05:26It doesn't line up sometimes. And so I have to play around with it. And that's because the weight
05:29plates can shift. So I have to push them forward a little bit and then it lines up. So nothing major,
05:34but just something that these plates do sometimes. They move around. So when I re-rack it, it may be
05:40a little off balance. So I have to realign them. And then my third con would be that the weight
05:44increments are a little bit wonky, three and three and a half pounds, something that I'm not used to.
05:48But again, if this is the only set of adjustable dumbbells that you have, then that's not a big deal.
05:53And I'll give you my pros. I like that this has a traditional dumbbell feel where there's no cages
05:57around the handle. So I can do exercises like waiter curls or overhead triceps extensions. I also like
06:03that it's compact and that it has a bunch of weight increments from eight and a half to 92 pounds.
06:08So 26 weight increments in a small compact design. I like that a lot. I like that it has flat ends
06:14and the flat ends I like because whenever I do exercises such as shoulder presses or bench press,
06:20these are not going to dig into my thighs. I've had adjustable dumbbells that have dials
06:24or a knob on the side here that can dig into your thighs. I like the handle. I like that it's
06:28knurled. I like that it's easy to turn and gives me fast weight changes from eight and a half to 92 pounds.
06:34And I also like that this has a three year warranty. I've had to use it in two years, but I like that
06:39it's there. And in case I drop them, they'll give me a one time drop warranty. That's my review
