00:00Newcastle United finally won their first game of the Premier League season on
00:04Saturday afternoon at St James's Park with a 1-0 win over Wolverhampton
00:09Wanderers courtesy of a debut strike from German forward Nick Vultimata who
00:15recently arrived from Stuttgart. It was Wolves though who had started the game
00:19in more dynamic fashion and they almost went ahead within the first 10 seconds
00:24of the match forcing Nick Pope into a good save. They then had another chance
00:29from the resulting corner but when they didn't score within that first period of
00:33the game it allowed Newcastle to grow in confidence and ultimately the goal came
00:38in the 29th minute when Jerkip Murphy's cross into the box was met by the head
00:43of Vultimata who put the ball into the back of the net. Newcastle then had
00:47chances to extend their lead in particular from Sandro Tonali who shot on the
00:52stroke of halftime struck the upright. Tonali himself was well praised following
00:57the full time whistle for his performance during the game and although Wolves did
01:00have some pressure towards the end of the 19 minutes Newcastle ultimately held
01:05firm to claim their first three points of the season ahead of the Champions League
01:09getting underway. As for Sunderland well they picked up a useful point away from
01:16home against Crystal Palace and were indebted to their keeper Robin Roofs for the
01:21saves that he made during the game to keep the score at 0-0 and was well praised by
01:25Regis Labris. I think we need players at that level in the Premier League otherwise
01:32we won't exist so for me it's not a surprise I'm really pleased and happy
01:37with his performance of course but not surprised and I'm sure that you have
01:42other performances like that thanks to the team because to make these saves you
01:48need the defenders you need the block you need to make it up for the opponent and
01:53when you are a goalkeeper you have to make the final save. I think we prepared this
01:58game properly and the pitcher was the pitcher expected during the week and we
02:06played a good first half dominating the ball but it's not enough you have to
02:13create chances.
