Newcastle United set to break transfer record fee on German forward Nick Woltemade

00:00Newcastle United are on the verge of breaking their transfer record fee

00:05with £69 million set to go on Nick Valtemada from Germany.

00:11He will arrive from Stuttgart and sign for the Magpies

00:14but is unlikely to be available against these United in the Premier League.

00:18This comes as Newcastle learn their Champions League opponents

00:21and Ernie Howe spoke about squad unity.

00:25Yeah, those guys do make me proud

00:27and I think their spirit and togetherness has never been in question.

00:31They're absolutely entwined into Newcastle.

00:35They want to be here, they want to play.

00:38They're connected to the club in a way that for me is really deep

00:42and you need all the players to feel that connection.

00:46I think the supporters create that really.

00:48You look at the environment tonight that Liverpool had to play

00:50and that was an incredible place to play football.

00:52Yes, I'm focused now and I'm disappointed we haven't got more from the game

00:58but as a football club I thought we showcased our talents really well today

01:03But we're going to need that unity throughout the season.

01:07and we're already being challenged in ways that maybe we didn't expect

01:09so we need to rise to that challenge.

01:12And Regis Labris has made clear that he maintains a belief

01:17in Sunderland forward Elisa Mayenda

01:19despite Mayenda missing a big chance against Burnley at the weekend.

01:24I think it's okay. It's okay. It's part of the process.

01:32If we think about last season, I think it happened like that.

01:36It started with not too big chances in the score

01:41but finally it was really good during the season.

01:45So a striker, a player in different positions can make mistakes

01:52or sometimes a good keeper can make a big save as well

01:57and stay confident, support him and I think it'll be okay.
