00:01:00At that time it was intentional.
00:01:02So, the first game this evening sees two managers enjoying contrasting starts to life at their new clubs,
00:01:07high-flying Derek McInnes and struggling for cohesion, Russell Martin.
00:01:10Well, it's been a turbulent start to the season for Rangers as hearts cross the M8 with a great deal of hope
00:01:17that their long wait for a victory here can be stopped today in a gloomy Glasgow.
00:01:26That's the same XI that started against Celtic for Rangers.
00:01:32Tilo Oskar is fresh from this incredible four-goal cameo against Moldova in Oslo on Tuesday
00:01:38as Norway close in in a first World Cup.
00:01:41St Scotland were last at the tournament.
00:01:43Deadline day signings, Cornelius and Cermiti are on the bench.
00:01:48New goalie Alexander Shvolov displaces Xander Clarke.
00:01:51He was away with Scotland during the international break.
00:01:54Braga has three in his last two with Alexandros Kisaridis,
00:01:57the man who got the late winner at Livingston last time out.
00:01:59starting instead of spittle.
00:02:04Kingsley's in for Kent at the back.
00:02:07A first league start for him this term.
00:02:19We know what Kingsley's all about from set pieces.
00:02:23Is Eridis also over this?
00:02:26He's left for the Greek.
00:02:28Flicked away by Oskar.
00:02:33Back in it comes and it's a brilliant opportunity for Halkett.
00:02:36He just couldn't keep it down.
00:02:40Great chance for Harts to take an early lead at Ibrox.
00:02:46It's a brilliant opportunity.
00:02:48He's annoyed he's not steered it on target.
00:02:50It's a real warning for Rangers though.
00:02:58Shankland, he's an arm.
00:03:08Rangers supporters think so.
00:03:10Play on.
00:03:11Here's Braga.
00:03:13Waiting for support.
00:03:14The reverse to Shankland!
00:03:16And that's a brilliant goal for Harts.
00:03:22Rangers think there's a handball.
00:03:25Earlier in the move.
00:03:28But Braga and Shankland have finished it off.
00:03:32Be interesting to see...
00:03:34if there's a VAR intervention here.
00:03:37But for now it's Harts who lead.
00:03:39Clever little reverse that by Braga.
00:03:42And Shankland as he so often has done.
00:03:46Finishes superbly well.
00:03:51Rangers troubles just continue.
00:03:53This doesn't get pulled back by VAR.
00:04:07Trouble again.
00:04:10Expertly done by Shankland.
00:04:14What has Greg Aitken got to say about it?
00:04:16Goal stands!
00:04:20Harts lead at Ibrox.
00:04:23And Russell Martin's Rangers tenure.
00:04:32Slips a bit further down the slope.
00:04:38Here.
00:04:41I don't give it all scared, but I think they may read the danger.
00:04:52All scared.
00:04:53He seems to have hurt himself as the Norwegian's ball comes in.
00:04:57It's actually ended up being a pretty good save from Shvolov.
00:05:02He tips it on to the bar.
00:05:05A rare moment of threat for Rangers in this first half.
00:05:09It's better from Gassama.
00:05:10He's going to get a second chance here.
00:05:15He's going to get a second chance here.
00:05:20Diamonde trying desperately to keep it alive.
00:05:23Mijovski goes after it.
00:05:25Which Fulov holds on.
00:05:28How big a chance is this?
00:05:30An expected one.
00:05:33I don't think Diamonde had lost the chance to set up one of his teammates.
00:05:39Fortuitously made its way to Mijovski.
00:05:41Comfort to be away in the six-yard line.
00:05:54Gassama.
00:05:54That's a good hit by Gassama.
00:05:59And he forces Shvolov into action.
00:06:03Danny McInnes was very excited about the signing of Shvolov.
00:06:17Ant-Man.
00:06:18Dancing into the box.
00:06:22Forcing the save.
00:06:23Oskar and the rebound.
00:06:25And the claim for handball.
00:06:29For a better few minutes from Rangers.
00:06:32Good play by Oliver Ant-Man.
00:06:35Drawing the save.
00:06:37Oskar must have thought he was scoring in the follow-up.
00:06:39He's placed header by Cornelius.
00:06:48No damage done.
00:06:50Here's Tavernier.
00:06:53And Gassama.
00:06:55And he's so unlucky.
00:06:58There's just one thing in his mind when the ball arrived at him.
00:07:09Gassama.
00:07:19Rothwell.
00:07:20It's a good ball.
00:07:22Neither Oskar nor Diamandé.
00:07:26Could get on the end of it.
00:07:39Rangers need to find something from somewhere.
00:07:56Where's that going?
00:07:58It's on the line.
00:08:00Eventually bundled home.
00:08:03But there's the whistle.
00:08:05To deny Telo Oskar.
00:08:07Russell Martin with his arms outstretched.
00:08:13He's expecting this to count.
00:08:18And the goal has been ruled out.
00:08:22On-field decision stands.
00:08:26That's a let-off for Hearts.
00:08:37There goes Mellon.
00:08:45Oh, he's gone down.
00:08:46And Stephen McLean awards the penalty!
00:08:53Brilliant positive play by Harry Mellon.
00:08:55He's been excellent this afternoon.
00:08:58There's Diamandé's boot there.
00:09:00Doesn't look like there's much on that viewing.
00:09:07But the decision does stand.
00:09:09There was enough contact.
00:09:13And Hearts have the chance to seal the three points.
00:09:16You would think.
00:09:16Eighteen games against Rangers without a victory.
00:09:23And Laurence Shankland's right boot is the chance.
00:09:27To put that record right.
00:09:31With less than ten to play.
00:09:34It is Shankland.
00:09:35And Butlin saves.
00:09:38But Shankland's there!
00:09:41Two-nil.
00:09:43Heart of Midlothian.
00:09:44What will this mean for Russell Martin?
00:10:09Shankland was quickly there on the follow-up.
00:10:11To make sure that his penalty.
00:10:14Failure.
00:10:14Does not matter.
00:10:26That's the seven minutes.
00:10:29That were added up.
00:10:32Here's Kabangu.
00:10:36Chance here to make it three!
00:10:41And it bounces back off the post.
00:10:44And listen to the reaction from the Rangers supporters.
00:10:49Who are left.
00:10:53You can understand that.
00:10:55It's five league matches without a win at the start of the season.
00:10:58For the first time since 1978.
00:11:01But make no mistake.
00:11:02But make no mistake.
00:11:03Whilst Russell Martin will dominate the headlines.
00:11:06Whilst his future will dominate the headlines.
00:11:09This is heart of Midlothian's day.
00:11:12Because this has put them back to the summit of the Premiership.
00:11:15They are in a brilliant place right now under that man.
00:11:20It was an absolute masterclass from Longshank today.
00:11:24And leading the line.
00:11:25And absolutely anybody watching that.
00:11:28His effort again is through the roof.
00:11:31His yardage will be covered.
00:11:32But every time the ball goes in.
00:11:34He's the best striker in Scotland.
00:11:35Secure in possession.
00:11:37He's got a goal in him.
00:11:39He led the line brutally.
00:11:41And he was well supported by every player behind him.
00:11:44From Braga.
00:11:45Caziridis.
00:11:46My midfield.
00:11:46We were to a man outstanding today.
00:11:48I think the challenge obviously now for you and the coaching team.
00:11:52Is to convince Rangers fans that you are the right people to do this.
00:11:57How do you deal with what you were experiencing out there?
00:12:00Because it can't be easy.
00:12:03Yeah, it's not my job.
00:12:04Results is the only way to convince them.
00:12:06So my job is to concentrate on the players and the staff inside the building.
00:12:10After a difficult afternoon.
00:12:13And give them enough support to improve.
00:12:15Enough detail to improve.
00:12:17Enough courage to improve.
00:12:21And then results have to follow.
00:12:22You've talked about the support that you've had from above.
00:12:25All the way through since you came in.
00:12:27Are you absolutely certain that that's going to continue.
00:12:30Given what they're witnessing around the stadium at the moment?
00:12:33We'll see.
00:12:35Hearts win at Ibricks for the first time in the top flight since 2012.
00:12:40We'll talk about the mess that Rangers are in shortly Neil.
00:12:43But Hearts, brilliant today.
00:12:45Absolutely brilliant.
00:12:46Fantastic.
00:12:47Top of the league tonight.
00:12:49But a lot of satisfaction from Derek McInnes and his team.
00:12:51Everybody concerned.
00:12:53He spoke about going to Glasgow.
00:12:55It's not too often they've gone to Glasgow.
00:12:56A long time, as you pointed out there, since they've got a result.
00:12:59But he was talking about the confidence you should be taking.
00:13:02The start that they've had to the campaign.
00:13:04And going to Glasgow with a belief.
00:13:06And a wee bit of a swagger that they can do a job.
00:13:09And they absolutely deserved it today.
00:13:10I know Russell talking about on the end of some bad decisions we'll look at.
00:13:14But overall, it was a set-up very brave.
00:13:16Two strikers, Braga, Shanklin up top, really secure behind them.
00:13:20And they went after Rangers.
00:13:21And they got the reward.
00:13:22They did.
00:13:22Will you show us just exactly what they did right today?
00:13:25It was really, really good.
00:13:27And well thought out from a coaching point of view.
00:13:29Because at times they were a 4-4-2.
00:13:31At times Harry Milne dropped.
00:13:34And they were a five at the back and three and a two.
00:13:38But what they did was hound.
00:13:39I thought Harry Milne, am I going to look at him individually, was outstanding.
00:13:43He was, aye.
00:13:43But Dale's right to point out that it all starts from the front.
00:13:46If you've got a real desire from the front.
00:13:48Because Rangers don't change, really, how they want to play.
00:13:51Russell's got a set plan.
00:13:53He wants to play it for the back.
00:13:54So every team know that you're going to get chances.
00:13:57Are you brave enough then to set your stall high?
00:14:00And hearts continually press.
00:14:02And even when it didn't work out for them, they went.
00:14:05Now, this is a goal.
00:14:06Again, it's a pressure.
00:14:07It's front football through to the striker.
00:14:09Defenders are on it.
00:14:11Suggestion of handball.
00:14:12It's not conclusive.
00:14:13But this is a beautiful little pass from Caudil Braga.
00:14:17But you have to look at Mo Diamandi as well.
00:14:19He's tracked him so far.
00:14:21And then he's passed over.
00:14:22It's lack of communication.
00:14:23That there looks as if it's maybe caught him on the armband.
00:14:26But I don't think it's clear enough for VAR when they looked at it to overturn it.
00:14:30And I think that's why the goal stood.
00:14:32But there's still a lot to do here.
00:14:34Shanklin's out of the picture.
00:14:35And Diamandi has just dropped him.
00:14:39But let's look at the finish.
00:14:40How many times were people talking about Lauren Shanklin
00:14:42when he was scoring 30 goals saying he was magic?
00:14:45And then all of a sudden, he had a bit of a barring spell
00:14:47and a tough time last season.
00:14:48Not played in the right position.
00:14:50Now he's in these areas.
00:14:51And Del's talking about a masterclass.
00:14:53That is the finish of a clinical striker.
00:14:55Brilliant.
00:14:56And he combines so well the pair of them, actually, don't they?
00:14:58They do.
00:14:59But as I said, it was the power of the team, I think,
00:15:01to date got the result.
00:15:02I know Shanks will get the plaudits for the two goals.
00:15:05But look at the desire.
00:15:06Look at the commitment.
00:15:08And it's everybody.
00:15:09If you go in ones and twos against a good team who are good in possession,
00:15:13you'll get picked off.
00:15:14But look at the amount of hearts jazzies they have.
00:15:15They think, right, Rangers think we're out.
00:15:17No, we're going to just keep you in.
00:15:19We're going to keep tugging away.
00:15:20Cammy Devlin's actually late into that.
00:15:22But look at that.
00:15:23That's not.
00:15:24It's stepped up.
00:15:24The ball's short.
00:15:25It's another element of how Russell wants to play.
00:15:27It's a short pass to his wingers to try and totally eliminate full-back
00:15:31if he jumps.
00:15:32And they almost concede another goal here.
00:15:34So you might say it's a Shankman masterclass.
00:15:36I thought it was a really big masterclass of tactics today.
00:15:40From Derek, he got it spot on.
00:15:41You mentioned Harry Milne.
00:15:43He was absolutely superb today.
00:15:46There's the stats from the game.
00:15:47Amazing.
00:15:47Yeah.
00:15:48I mean, hearts coming out pretty much all over the pitch in every aspect.
00:15:52Harry Milne, I mentioned him.
00:15:54He had a brilliant game today, didn't he?
00:15:55He did.
00:15:56I just think he's had a brilliant start to this campaign.
00:15:59Big boots to fill under James Penrice.
00:16:01People thinking, I'm not sure, is he a right type?
00:16:04He had to go to the right back today.
00:16:06And I know what it's like playing the right side as a really solid left footer.
00:16:09It's not easy.
00:16:10But look at his awareness here.
00:16:12He could have quite easily switched off and thought,
00:16:14I'll just sit in the box and watch.
00:16:15And Gassama goes down the line and causes chaos.
00:16:17No, he's over covering.
00:16:19He did that so many times.
00:16:20Then in the second half, Kingsley goes off.
00:16:22He's got to move him back to the left.
00:16:23And he's still got the energy.
00:16:25And again, the drive and commitment to go into the box and draw the foul from Diamante.
00:16:29This will be one of the decisions that Russell Martin's talking about.
00:16:31It looks very minimal contact, doesn't it?
00:16:33It is minimal.
00:16:34But if you're running at pace, you don't need a lot of...
00:16:36Watch, it's just a little clip from Diamante just on his boot there.
00:16:40And it knocks his footing out.
00:16:41I think it is a penalty.
00:16:43I don't think, again, a VR look at that is enough to overturn the decision that Stephen
00:16:47McLean's given.
00:16:48So that's why it stands.
00:16:50Everybody thinks that Lauren Shankland has passed up the opportunity.
00:16:54But he's so aware and he's so sharp.
00:16:55Jack Butlin's a super save, you have to say.
00:16:57But talk about rubbing salt in the wounds.
00:17:00That's a guy who was a free transfer in the summer.
00:17:02A guy who never had a club.
00:17:03Well, Rangers have just spent ÂŁ8 million on a new strike and you could have got Lawrence
00:17:07for nothing.
00:17:08Exactly, that's what I'm saying.
00:17:09It's a great business from Hearts.
00:17:10We'll move on to Rangers.
00:17:12They just didn't look comfortable in the shape that they were in today or even in themselves.
00:17:17No.
00:17:18I know they're on the end of some dubious decisions.
00:17:20But if you're playing this sort of way, look at this area here.
00:17:24Now, what it does, we're talking about Hearts in terms of their commitment to their shape.
00:17:27Look at those five jerseys there.
00:17:29They're compact.
00:17:30So they know that the ball's been kept in an area of the pitch where they can go and
00:17:34hound it.
00:17:35If you open up the game, they're looking to bounds.
00:17:38Row it to John Suter there.
00:17:39MacGomba's a way up the pitch.
00:17:41Now, he's a way up the pitch and there's Mikey Moore coming into shot there down at the
00:17:44bottom left-hand corner.
00:17:45That's your winger.
00:17:46It's in the absolute reverse.
00:17:48If you open the pitch there from a central position, Hearts can't commit the bodies to
00:17:53the areas that it's necessary.
00:17:54If they try that, then the wings will be open.
00:17:56If they open up and flatten out that shape, then they'll penetrate through the gaps.
00:18:01And it was so often today evident that the centre-backs, and John Suter in particular,
00:18:05had virtually zero options.
00:18:08Diamande, he's running in there.
00:18:09Mikey Moore doesn't want the ball.
00:18:11MacGomba, he's under pressure.
00:18:13John Suter thinks, I need to keep going.
00:18:14And this is how Rangers are playing.
00:18:16They're leaving those gaps.
00:18:17They're so open.
00:18:18They're leaving channels.
00:18:20This doesn't come to a goal.
00:18:21It ends up being a corner.
00:18:22But look how ragged they are.
00:18:24So, as much as Russell says it's about maybe nervousness and anxious, there's definite
00:18:32instructions there because he must be allowing McGomba to go really high there and wanting
00:18:36Mikey Moore to come into those positions.
00:18:37So, there's a lot of things going wrong at the minute.
00:18:41Five games, no wins.
00:18:42Nine points behind Hearts.
00:18:44Tenth in the table.
00:18:45Does Russell Martin survive this latest result?
00:18:48I'm not sure.
00:18:49I'm not sure.
00:18:50I don't know what the new ownership are like.
00:18:51I really felt for him.
00:18:53He looked really uncomfortable at the end of the game there.
00:18:55There was almost a resignation.
00:18:56And I know he's not one for walking away.
00:18:59But when the fans show their disdain and their real displeasure like that, then it's really
00:19:05difficult to come through it.
00:19:06He would have to go on an enormous run to turn that fan base because they demand better.
00:19:12They made their feelings clear throughout the match, the Rangers supporter.
00:19:15The thing is, though, the amount of money that he's been given to spend to build this squad,
00:19:20the fact that Rangers have had five managers in four years, does that not sway the board
00:19:25to stick with him a bit longer?
00:19:26I totally understand.
00:19:27There's a process here.
00:19:28And sometimes he said you've got to go through a lot of pain.
00:19:30But if something's not working, there's only been three goals scored in the five league
00:19:35games, Tomo, four draws.
00:19:37So there's no individual horror errors that's causing the Rangers to lose games.
00:19:45That's two games now gone by without a goal and no shots against Celtic.
00:19:49So that gives the ammunition for the fans to turn around and say, look, we've seen enough.
00:19:53So it's up to Russell to sit down with the board and say, right, I'm the man to push
00:19:56this forward.
00:19:57I'm the man to turn this around.
00:19:58And he has to convince them.
00:19:59And he has to convince the fans, plus the players.
00:20:02It's going to take some convincing.
00:20:03Rangers did have the ball in the net.
00:20:06Goal was disallowed.
00:20:07Soft?
00:20:08I think that should be given, I have to say.
00:20:11Swalov, for me, is very, very lucky.
00:20:14Very unconvincing.
00:20:15I know he's just in today.
00:20:16Big lad.
00:20:17I think he's got a case in terms of when Asgard looks, he looks at him and he then
00:20:21puts his arm across him here.
00:20:23Look, he just has a wee look and he leans in.
00:20:25Now, I don't believe the referee has, Stephen McClain, has blown the whistle there.
00:20:28I think he blows it there.
00:20:29And at that point in time, he's flapping.
00:20:32And I don't think there's enough contact.
00:20:33Watch his left arm across that Asgard here.
00:20:35It's as much, he shoves Asgard there.
00:20:38Not much in it, is he?
00:20:39I think he loses his balance.
00:20:40And I think that should have been a goal for Rangers.
00:20:42Before we move on, can Hearts, I mean, careful here, because we saw,
00:20:47what happened with Aberdeen last season after their start.
00:20:49But can Hearts mount a serious title challenge?
00:20:52Are they good enough?
00:20:53I think they've got a squad strong enough.
00:20:55It's yet to be proven where they can have the longevity,
00:20:58because that's what it's all about.
00:20:59You can challenge so long, but generally the power of squads
00:21:02that Rangers, and particularly Celtic, have had over the dominance they've had
00:21:06is that they're able to go all season.
00:21:08That remains to be seen with Hearts.
00:21:09But they're nine years ahead of a plan, of Tony Bloom's plan,
00:21:13a challenge for the title.
00:21:15So right now they're sitting pretty.
00:21:16It's great when you get a bit of momentum and belief into your camp,
00:21:19though, because we've seen it in the past, Stevie,
00:21:22there's great things can happen if you can just get a run of confidence
00:21:24in your team.
00:21:25OK.
00:21:26Well, Falkirk got their first win of the season last time out.
00:21:29Could they repeat the trick today against St Mirren?
00:21:31Falkirk had their first top flight win since 2010 under their belts.
00:21:37Now can they grab one at home?
00:21:39Meanwhile, after a tough early schedule,
00:21:41St Mirren are searching for their first league win of the season
00:21:43in what in Stephen Robinson's 400th game as a manager.
00:21:47Falkirk named the same side, which won at Pataudry.
00:21:49However, the match winner, Carell Wilson, is injured.
00:21:51New signings, Ethan Williams, Philip Lisa and Sam Hart are on the bench.
00:21:55It's the same again as well for St Mirren after their draw at Easter Road.
00:22:00Striker Dan Inlandulu joined on deadline day and could make his debut from the bench.
00:22:11Over a month since Falkirk played at home in their opener against Dundee United.
00:22:17Grateful to be back in front of their 5,000-plus season ticket holders.
00:22:23St Mirren coming forward now through Declan John.
00:22:29Drives into the area, John.
00:22:32And O'Hara's header.
00:22:35Not enough behind it to beat Scott Bain.
00:22:39Early warning sign, no 4-4, Falkirk.
00:22:45400 not out for Stephen Robinson as a manager.
00:22:51Brilliant achievement, impact at Motherwell and St Mirren, of course.
00:22:56Tate, Arfield, Miller and McIver on the stretch.
00:22:59Couldn't poke it past Shabal George.
00:23:02The offside flag has gone up.
00:23:06Good move from Falkirk.
00:23:09Arfield definitely onside here.
00:23:12But perhaps Miller here is off with that touch.
00:23:15Adams continues his run.
00:23:29Miller threads it through for Adams.
00:23:34Whisker away from the Falkirk right-back.
00:23:39Little wry smile.
00:23:41Good move again from the Bairns.
00:23:46Kiver just couldn't get on the end of that in the back post either.
00:23:52Mandron holds off one.
00:23:54Good feet.
00:23:56And he is filled.
00:23:57Mikael Mandron.
00:23:59He is a tough man to stop when he gets going.
00:24:01And Brad Spencer did so illegally.
00:24:03And this is a chance for St Mirren to get an effort on target.
00:24:10Will it be Phillips or John?
00:24:13It will be the left foot of Declan.
00:24:14John!
00:24:16And it is 1-0 St Mirren.
00:24:22Deadlock broken.
00:24:23And it comes in a rather cruel fashion for Falkirk.
00:24:28Not that they care, the St Mirren fans or players.
00:24:34It hits off Brad Spencer as he jumped to block it.
00:24:37Completely deceives Scott Bain, who was helpless.
00:24:46St Mirren with a bit between their teeth now.
00:24:49Richard King.
00:24:50Wonderful pass.
00:24:51Phillips with a great touch.
00:24:52And the save was rather excellent too from Scott Bain.
00:24:57Keeps it to 1-0 for now.
00:25:02Phillips unlucky.
00:25:09Deflection.
00:25:10And just comes off the base of the post, I think.
00:25:13Ethan Williams off the bench.
00:25:17Looking threatening for Falkirk.
00:25:22This game is still open with 10 to play.
00:25:33Nalindoulou chases that.
00:25:34On for a St Mirren debut.
00:25:36He's done well to fetch it.
00:25:39John.
00:25:39Pressed by Adams.
00:25:42That will be a St Mirren throw-in.
00:25:52St Mirren get on with things.
00:25:54John with space to cross.
00:25:56And Mandron goes up.
00:25:57And there is the second.
00:25:59And that may well be goodnight Falkirk.
00:26:08Mikel Mandron's first Premiership goal of the season.
00:26:12It's a really well-taken header.
00:26:16But Falkirk guilty of switching off from the throw-in.
00:26:19Allowing the danger man Declan John to whip the ball in.
00:26:22And Mandron did the rest.
00:26:24St Mirren two to the goods.
00:26:25John clears.
00:26:32Probably being the standout for St Mirren this afternoon.
00:26:38Falkirk not done yet though.
00:26:40Here is McCann.
00:26:42Well that's a teasing ball.
00:26:43Met by Brian Graham.
00:26:46And Falkirk have hope yet.
00:26:49The veteran striker.
00:26:56Gets his team on the boards.
00:26:59Another delicious delivery from McCann.
00:27:02And that is vintage Brian Graham.
00:27:05Over the defender.
00:27:07Clatters the header beyond the goalkeeper.
00:27:10His first in the top flight since 2019.
00:27:12Still all to play for here.
00:27:20Mandron.
00:27:22Not in a rush.
00:27:23Unsurprisingly.
00:27:24But he's done well.
00:27:26Now it's King.
00:27:27Space to shoot.
00:27:30Scott Bain was sharp.
00:27:32As he has been all afternoon.
00:27:33To get across and tip that round the post.
00:27:36He's unlucky that it's in centre half.
00:27:39Heading for the bottom corner.
00:27:40St Mirren have their first league win of the season.
00:27:48Stephen Robinson marks his 400th game as a manager with victory.
00:27:53Falkirk won St Mirren too.
00:27:57I thought the game was sticky at the start.
00:27:59Two teams after an international break and days off.
00:28:02It looked a little bit rusty to be honest.
00:28:04But I thought we came out really well in the second half.
00:28:06We started to dominate the game.
00:28:08Could have a buck for the goalkeeper.
00:28:09Scott's made two terrific saves.
00:28:10One from Killian Phillips.
00:28:11One from Richard King.
00:28:13It could have been and should have been more.
00:28:15And then we conceded a goal that we should never concede.
00:28:18And gives Falkirk a little bit of hope.
00:28:20So we had to defend.
00:28:21And we done that well when we needed to.
00:28:22But overall delighted to get the three points.
00:28:25Of course the first goal in every game is important.
00:28:27And particularly in this league.
00:28:28And I think we had opportunities to get that first goal.
00:28:30Not loads.
00:28:31But there wasn't a lot of chances kicking about.
00:28:35If we go in front it may be different.
00:28:37If we don't switch off at the throw in when we lose the second goal.
00:28:40Which is really, really poor.
00:28:41We had just made a couple of changes to two players come off.
00:28:45Two players went on.
00:28:46And whether we lost concentration or not I don't know.
00:28:49But it was very poor.
00:28:50It was really, really poor defensively.
00:28:51It's a terrible, terrible goal to lose.
00:28:55And we went up to the park and scored a really, really good goal.
00:28:58And we should probably be taking something from the game.
00:29:01So we'll need to learn very, very quickly.
00:29:04St Mairn get their first win of the season.
00:29:06In a fairly tight game, Neil.
00:29:08But did you think that St Mairn just edged it?
00:29:10John McGlynn's saying that he felt as though they deserved something from it.
00:29:13To what we were seeing I think St Mairn probably deserved it.
00:29:17John and Falkirk are fine on their feet in the top division.
00:29:21And they're finding it difficult.
00:29:23But I have to compliment them because they're not prepared to just buckle
00:29:26and change their shape too easily, Tom.
00:29:28They're actually trying to play that has served them so well
00:29:31coming through the divisions.
00:29:32And they'll continue to grow.
00:29:34They'll continue to get more experience.
00:29:35I think that's where St Mairn really hold the aces today
00:29:37in terms of their power, their experience, their know-how
00:29:40just to get a result done.
00:29:41And Stephen obviously will be delighted with that.
00:29:43That's a nice shirt, that one, by the way.
00:29:44Do you like it? I just try to switch it up a wee bit.
00:29:46It's nice, I like it.
00:29:47That's nice, is that one?
00:29:48No, no.
00:29:49Mikael Mandroin, heavily involved today.
00:29:51Is it a good start to the season?
00:29:52Yeah, I like him.
00:29:54I mean, I know he's obviously going to be a bit of a target man,
00:29:58but he's got decent movement.
00:30:00I think when he's playing up there with Aunga especially,
00:30:03I think he looked really effective.
00:30:04Kylian Phillips bombing into the box.
00:30:06But I think generally his game as a main threat striker is good.
00:30:11Now, if you're playing with a main striker like big Mikael Mandroin,
00:30:15then the service to him needs to be good.
00:30:17So if they're cupping balls in to allow him to hold it in,
00:30:21bring it down to his chest, back people in,
00:30:23it has to be done in an area where he can get to it.
00:30:25And they're doing that something, and they're clever.
00:30:27I mean, that's a wicked, horrible deflection.
00:30:30It's a huge bit of luck.
00:30:32There's no, I know a person in blame here,
00:30:34because he takes it in the stomach.
00:30:36He's not as if he's moving it.
00:30:37And look at him.
00:30:38He's just jumping.
00:30:39It just hits off him.
00:30:40And unfortunately finds a net.
00:30:41This is sloppy.
00:30:42But this is sloppy.
00:30:43First of all, stop the cross.
00:30:44Get closer to the ball and stop the cross.
00:30:46The gap between centre-backs there is too big.
00:30:49I'm talking about movement.
00:30:51Mikael Mandroin, he's no easy to miss.
00:30:53He doesn't even need to move there.
00:30:55And it's a brilliant header.
00:30:56It's just a little bounce leap and directs it into the far corner.
00:30:59How many times do you see that, though, from throw-ins,
00:31:02when defenders just switch off, if you take it quickly,
00:31:04and then there's no pressure on the ball?
00:31:06Absolutely.
00:31:07And I think John McGlynn will be, he's unhappy, first of all,
00:31:09with the space that a big striker can get there in the box.
00:31:11But I think you trace it back,
00:31:12and you talk about that switching off, losing concentration.
00:31:16But get out and stop the cross.
00:31:18Roll it back and then adjust it, and you can squeeze out.
00:31:20But don't let it come in on your box.
00:31:22I tell you what, big Killeen Phillips loves when his teammates score, doesn't he?
00:31:25I mean, I thought the guy scored a hat-trick himself today.
00:31:27I didn't know what was happening.
00:31:28Sensational.
00:31:28I didn't know what was happening,
00:31:29but if there's an award for best supporting actor today, he'd win it.
00:31:33I mean, look, it comes from nowhere here.
00:31:35Look, that's brilliant.
00:31:37He wasn't anywhere near that one as well.
00:31:39And then this one here,
00:31:41he's not even interested in Big Mandurin.
00:31:42Look, he's away.
00:31:44I can't wait until the big man actually scores.
00:31:47I don't know what he's going to do.
00:31:49He is.
00:31:50He's been a great signing person, hasn't he?
00:31:52I mean, he plays with his heart on his sleeve.
00:31:53I actually really, really like him.
00:31:55He's got a wee bit of fire in him.
00:31:56He's got a wee bit of nastiness, a wee bit of a streak.
00:31:58And I think it completely mirrors what the manager is.
00:32:02You know, Stevie's all passion.
00:32:05He's out there.
00:32:05He's all in.
00:32:06And I think the mix that they've got, particularly in that midfield area,
00:32:09certainly complements the two strikers up top.
00:32:11Stephen Robinson's fourth, 400th game as a manager today,
00:32:15something you've never managed to achieve.
00:32:17It's not easy.
00:32:17You'll know that.
00:32:18Stuff her.
00:32:19Great achievement from him.
00:32:20I thought you were going to churn my stats out there.
00:32:23I didn't have them.
00:32:24Couldn't find them.
00:32:24No, listen, I think Stevie's proven how good a coach he is.
00:32:29He's a coach manager as well.
00:32:31He's not just a guy that stands at his side.
00:32:32He's completely submersed in his training.
00:32:34He's completely involved in match day.
00:32:37400 games is no easy feat, but it's not about just the numbers a game.
00:32:40Anybody can, you know, maybe kind of wriggle through and get an amount of games.
00:32:43He's actually making a real impact at someone.
00:32:45What he's done there has been superb in terms of getting a structure,
00:32:49getting a real consistency of top six finishes.
00:32:52Now I think he'll be looking at maybe getting to Hamden a wee bit of silverware.
00:32:55Well, they do play Kilmarnock in the Cup quarterfinal next Friday.
00:32:59Dens Park now as Dundee welcome draw specialists.
00:33:02Motherwell.
00:33:06Contrasting moods in both fanbases,
00:33:08despite both sides still searching for the first win of the new Premiership season,
00:33:12will today be the day for either Dundee or Motherwell?
00:33:16Stephen Presley makes two changes after Dundee Derby defeat a fortnight ago.
00:33:20Tony Ugani makes his first league start
00:33:21while Finley Robertson returns in midfield.
00:33:24Samuels and Jones both drop to the bench.
00:33:27Three Motherwell changes.
00:33:28There's a debut for Welsh, while Katrumbus returns in defence.
00:33:31And Charles Cook makes his first start.
00:33:33Captain McGinn misses out.
00:33:34O'Donnell and Just are on the bench.
00:33:37Pre-match pleasantries between both managers.
00:33:42Flick from Dre Wright.
00:33:44Well picked off by Stephen Welsh.
00:33:46And Motherwell looking to launch an early attack.
00:33:50Here's Riggan Charles Cook.
00:33:52Being well held up as Longolo knocks him into the area.
00:33:56Picked up though by Ethan Hamilton who runs his way into trouble.
00:34:02Stamatilophilus.
00:34:03On to Mazvanissi who lets one fly.
00:34:05And it's an early chance for the Steelmen at Denz Park.
00:34:12It was good work from Longolo to win the ball back from Motherwell.
00:34:15Stamatilophilus.
00:34:16On to Mazvanissi who just got right underneath it.
00:34:18The rain really lashing down here in Dundee.
00:34:26What with the free kick?
00:34:29Finds Longolo.
00:34:31It's a lovely touch to take it beyond Joe Wesley.
00:34:34How's the delivery?
00:34:35Up goes Mazvanissi.
00:34:37And John McCracken in the end able to get a hold of it.
00:34:40But what about the skill there from Emmanuel Longolo?
00:34:43The touch taking it beyond Wesley.
00:34:47The delivery was decent.
00:34:49Motherwell just couldn't make it pay.
00:34:58Robertson.
00:35:00To right who gives the ball away to Longolo.
00:35:04Now on to Mazvanissi.
00:35:06Burns beyond Graham.
00:35:07It's Mazvanissi!
00:35:10And it's magnificent from Mazvanissi.
00:35:14As Motherwell lead by a goal to nil at Denz Park.
00:35:20He was the match winner here.
00:35:22When the sides met back in May.
00:35:24And it's just brilliant pace.
00:35:26Brilliant control.
00:35:27And an excellent finish.
00:35:30He burned beyond Luke Graham.
00:35:32And McCracken was rooted to the spot.
00:35:35Shorty goes to Cameron Congreve.
00:35:49The substitute swings one in.
00:35:51Finds Luke Graham.
00:35:54And it's a brilliant header from Luke Graham.
00:35:57His first Premiership goal.
00:36:01Draws Dundee level at Denz.
00:36:05It's a lightning quick start to the second half from the home side.
00:36:09A pinpoint delivery.
00:36:11And an excellent header from Graham.
00:36:12The pass away on to Dandert.
00:36:24Trying to get away from Charles Cook.
00:36:28Linking up with Congreve.
00:36:30As Dandert's cross.
00:36:31There's Simon Murray.
00:36:31And that was a real chance to quickly overturn the one goal deficit at the start of the second half.
00:36:42Congreve certainly making an impact.
00:36:44It was a good ball from Dandert.
00:36:46And Simon Murray is also close.
00:36:47Hamilton dealing with Charles Cook.
00:36:59Getting him on to Ugani.
00:37:01Held up by Katrumbis.
00:37:03Does well though to find Dandert.
00:37:06Robertson.
00:37:08As Dundee launch another attack.
00:37:10They've came out with a point to prove in this second half.
00:37:14Dandert.
00:37:14Went with a first-time pass which finds Watt who has his pocket picked by Congreve.
00:37:20And it's a chance for Simon Murray.
00:37:24And it's a chance which goes begging.
00:37:29You back a player of Simon Murray's quality to score that all day and all night.
00:37:34It was brilliant work from Congreve to win it back, to lay it off.
00:37:38And Murray just swept it wide.
00:37:40Here's Faddinger.
00:37:47Onto Watt.
00:37:49Launches it long for Mazwanisi who cuts it back for Stamatolopoulos.
00:37:54And it's another big chance this time.
00:37:57Falling the way of Motherwell.
00:38:00Mazwanisi falls to ground and it looks as though Stamatolopoulos is in a world of pain.
00:38:06It was a brilliant searching ball.
00:38:09The cutback took a slight deflection and Stamatolopoulos couldn't turn it home and collided with the post.
00:38:17It's good to see that he's back to his feet but he'll have to make way.
00:38:22And it's Esapo Osung to come on.
00:38:24Faddinger lifts it forward to O'Donnell.
00:38:34Now just.
00:38:37As Motherwell.
00:38:39Probe to try and find the lead.
00:38:41That's a good ball from O'Donnell.
00:38:42Saeed with a touch on to Osung.
00:38:44Can he get the shot away?
00:38:46The back heel well defended by Dundee.
00:38:48Faddinger's strike.
00:38:50Is well beaten away by McCracken.
00:38:57The Dundee stopper had to be sharp.
00:39:00But it's all about this pass from Stephen O'Donnell just to cut through the defence.
00:39:04Saeed helped it on.
00:39:05Osung had a go.
00:39:07There's a collision between the two Robertsons before Faddinger let one fly.
00:39:13What forward to Just.
00:39:20That's a nice turn.
00:39:21Driving run.
00:39:22Pokes it through for Mazwanisi.
00:39:24And it's another big Motherwell chance.
00:39:28And Dundee have their goalkeeper to thank that they're not behind again.
00:39:32A cute pass from Elijah Just.
00:39:34And Mazwanisi the form he's in.
00:39:37Goals in each of his last three Premiership matches.
00:39:40He could have made it four and three.
00:39:41But the Dundee keeper said no.
00:39:48Here's Danda.
00:39:49Two for Murray.
00:39:51Bustling run from the captain.
00:39:52Down he goes.
00:39:54And Simon Murray.
00:39:56Looking for a penalty.
00:39:59Referee Callum Scott disagrees.
00:40:00Simon Murray saying that there was a shove on the back.
00:40:04We'll see it again here.
00:40:09Certainly contact from the two Motherwell defenders.
00:40:11But not enough in the eyes of the referee.
00:40:15Murray was certain.
00:40:16Jens Bertolaski less so.
00:40:18It's a loose touch from Faddinger and the lunging challenge from Jan Danda.
00:40:27And it's a red card for Jan Danda.
00:40:28A straight red card for the Dundee midfielder.
00:40:35He went lunging into the challenge.
00:40:37He caught some of the ball.
00:40:38But I think it's the follow through.
00:40:40Which has seen him dismissed by Callum Scott.
00:40:42Of course, everything is checked by VAR.
00:40:47But I haven't seen enough to overturn this one.
00:40:53And it's all over at Denz Park.
00:40:55As Motherwell become the first team this century to draw six consecutive matches in the Scottish Premiership.
00:41:02Final score.
00:41:03Dundee won.
00:41:03Motherwell won.
00:41:04I thought in the first half it was a poor performance.
00:41:10We didn't really carry out the game plan.
00:41:13We were a little bit disjointed.
00:41:15And I spoke prior to the game about having a greater attacking intent.
00:41:19We never really showed that in the first half.
00:41:21But the pleasing factor was that we got a response from the players in the second half.
00:41:25I think we play probably one of the best halves in my time here in the first half.
00:41:30And then by far the worst one in the second half.
00:41:32Where we have everything under control.
00:41:35And then we are not just one or two.
00:41:37But I would say the entire team completely sleeping on a set play which we knew.
00:41:42And which was one of the last messages before we went out to the second half.
00:41:45That was one of the only opportunities they had to create a big chance.
00:41:49The red card.
00:41:50Your thoughts on it.
00:41:51And plans to appeal it.
00:41:53I've not seen it again, Brian.
00:41:56I haven't seen it.
00:41:57But I'm obviously disappointed.
00:41:58Because I thought Jan had a really good second half.
00:42:01If the appeal wasn't successful, if we make an appeal, then it will be a big miss for us.
00:42:07Five games, five draws, five points for Motherwell.
00:42:11In that first half they were exceptional.
00:42:13Some of the build-up play outstanding.
00:42:15And Longolo a standout as well.
00:42:17They're starting to get into a groove.
00:42:18A real groove.
00:42:20You can see that they thoroughly enjoy playing it out.
00:42:22There's a bravery about them.
00:42:24I tell you, what a sign on this boy is.
00:42:25Longolo.
00:42:26I mean, he has got an engine.
00:42:29He's got power.
00:42:30He's got timing to get into the box.
00:42:33I mean, he's been a brilliant acquisition.
00:42:35He's one of the guys that I think have made it possible to play in a way.
00:42:39Because you still need force.
00:42:41Charles Regan Cook coming in as well has added a bit of speed.
00:42:44But you need that power.
00:42:45You can have all the finesse and keeping the ball.
00:42:48Like we're speaking about Rangers.
00:42:49But you need the cutting edge and you need the power.
00:42:51You need the final bits to the jigsaw.
00:42:54Motherwell are yet to completely find that yet, though.
00:42:57And that's evident there in their five draws.
00:43:00But I think they've got some really exciting players.
00:43:04We speak about Langello there.
00:43:05And you've got Mas Winesi.
00:43:07You've got something.
00:43:09And I think once Motherwell got over that barrier and get three points.
00:43:11This is brilliant, by the way.
00:43:13I have to really kind of compliment Mas Winesi.
00:43:17Because he's so direct there.
00:43:19He eliminates Luke Graham when it can have been easy to turn back for a pass.
00:43:22Because that's how the manager wants him to play.
00:43:23Maybe sometimes you overdo it.
00:43:24But that was about just the difference and just clicking through the gears and killing teams quick.
00:43:30And that's what maybe they need to do a lot better.
00:43:32But the variation in their play and the composure and bravery to actually make things happen.
00:43:38There he goes again.
00:43:39I mean, the big man.
00:43:40Sometimes you look at him as well and there's not a bead of sweat on him.
00:43:43So, yeah, I think Motherwell has a lot to like.
00:43:47But they need to find that cutting edge.
00:43:49They're just not clinical enough.
00:43:50No, they're not clinical enough.
00:43:52They might have just lost one of their strikers as well.
00:43:53You know, they're taking the goalposts out at Denz.
00:43:55But it looked a sore one.
00:43:57But I just think once they trip over and they finally get a win,
00:44:01then you know what it's like.
00:44:03It can just give you a freedom to go and get more.
00:44:06Dundee did respond in the second half.
00:44:09Elvis said that.
00:44:10Cameron Cosgrove, are you getting praised for his impact?
00:44:13Yeah, I think this ball is really good.
00:44:18Congreve, sorry.
00:44:19Congreve, yeah.
00:44:20No wonder the manager is furious because big Luke Graham is what will track him here.
00:44:25He's one of the biggest threats.
00:44:26I totally agree that if it's a counter-attacking team and a team that's set deep,
00:44:30then they're going to play on set pieces.
00:44:32The big man just wandered in there with a free header.
00:44:34And it's a brilliant header.
00:44:36But it was a vast improvement.
00:44:38So many times I think Stephen has shown that he wants to be a really low-base,
00:44:46counter-attacking outfit.
00:44:48Hard to break down.
00:44:49But I'm not quite sure that's going to get him the results he's after.
00:44:52He has to take a lot more risk.
00:44:54And I think he did that in the second half.
00:44:55This guy here just continues to make me smile.
00:44:59He's just lost the power on his thighs here for me.
00:45:01He wants a penalty.
00:45:02I think he'll be sitting with that same face tonight at the couch when he's watching sports scene.
00:45:06But what a chance he had to actually win the game for Dundee.
00:45:08It was a big miss.
00:45:09He'd expect me to score.
00:45:10We've not got it to run, but the dandas sending off, not for me.
00:45:13Not for me either.
00:45:13No, I think the game's going soft.
00:45:15It's not a sending off.
00:45:16To Petaudry now, where Aberdeen were hoping their new signings could get their season up
00:45:21and running against Livingston.
00:45:25It has been a sluggish start for Aberdeen.
00:45:27No league goals or points after three matches.
00:45:30But today feels like a bit of a reset for the Dons.
00:45:33After an active end to the transfer window, will they rejuvenate from the national break with energy?
00:45:40Livingston visit Petaudry today, the second of the Premiership newcomers.
00:45:44And they hope to reflect a similar result to their fellow promoted side, Falkirk.
00:45:48They were 1-0 winners here last time out.
00:45:52Aberdeen makes seven switches.
00:45:53Only goalkeeper Mitov, Jensen, Knuster and Keskinen remain from the defeat here to Falkirk.
00:45:59Captain Shinny returns.
00:46:00Of the new signings, Carrollson makes his debut reunited with his manager.
00:46:04Nisbet makes his first start as a permanent player after a loan here last season.
00:46:09And Stuart Armstrong could debut as a sub.
00:46:12Only a single swap for Livingston after a late loss at home to Hearts.
00:46:15Macaulay Tate couldn't feature in that one.
00:46:17As he's on loan from Heart of Midlothian but plays today, Muirhead moves to the more advanced position.
00:46:23Andrew Shinny could come on to battle against his brother from the bench.
00:46:27This might drop, and the shot is wide from Alshish.
00:46:40A quick groan up to the sky because Nadil Alshish knows that was an opportunity.
00:46:47It's enough pressure from Montgomery to narrow the angle.
00:46:51Aberdeen moving it quickly to try and drag Livy around.
00:46:58Knuster teases it towards Carrollson.
00:47:00The cutback, Nisbet!
00:47:03Aberdeen claiming a corner.
00:47:07It won't come, but that was lovely play from the Dons.
00:47:12Kieskinen driving Aberdeen forward again.
00:47:22Nisbet, here's Jensen!
00:47:25Oh, strong fingertips on Priot.
00:47:30The fullback found himself in so much space.
00:47:35Nisbet well aware.
00:47:37And so much time for Jensen.
00:47:39Who executes it well.
00:47:41But the big frame of Jérôme Priot gets a strong right hand to it.
00:47:53And here's a chance for Carrollson!
00:47:58Well, Pataudry expected the net to burst.
00:48:03Aberdeen moving so quickly from the free kick.
00:48:07The delicate ball forward.
00:48:08Carrollson does well to try and catch Priot out.
00:48:11But the angle's just too difficult.
00:48:15It's Jesper Carrollson hoping to provide on his debut.
00:48:19Alshish goes for goal!
00:48:24He's opened up the left foot.
00:48:27He's trying to guide it to the top corner.
00:48:29And a bit of time as well.
00:48:32And a bit of time as well.
00:48:34Stuart Armstrong coming on.
00:48:37And Stuart Armstrong welcomed around Pataudry.
00:48:41Finlayson.
00:48:45Finlayson.
00:48:46There's an opportunity for the Lions.
00:48:49Silla for Winter.
00:48:52Into the six-yard area.
00:48:54And Mitov claws at it.
00:48:55Livingston corner.
00:48:56I wonder if the Bulgarian stopper could have caught that one.
00:49:07Muirhead takes for Livingston.
00:49:10McGowan's header!
00:49:10And Yenge with the last touch.
00:49:15But it sat up in the air for Mitov to take.
00:49:18And Armstrong cynically brings down Montgomery in the Dons debutant.
00:49:33Shown the yellow card.
00:49:36Armstrong turns.
00:49:40Clipped up towards Jesper Carrollson.
00:49:45Deep delivery.
00:49:46Pala Versa.
00:49:47Urge to shoot!
00:49:49Superb save from Prior.
00:49:51That was wonderfully caught by Antti Pala Versa.
00:49:59Aberdeen with a lovely passage of play.
00:50:12A yellow card out of Nick Walsh's pocket.
00:50:16For the late challenge on McGowan.
00:50:20Marko Lazatic protests his innocence.
00:50:26That's what it was for.
00:50:27Is there a chance here for Livingston.
00:50:37Winter looking to pounce!
00:50:39Pataudry held its breath for a second.
00:50:39Pataudry held its breath for a second.
00:50:45Antti Pala Versa.
00:50:48Looked to be aiming for Canoester.
00:50:50As there's still an opportunity for the Dons to counter Clarkson to Polvara.
00:51:01Pataudry was just begging for someone to get a touch.
00:51:02And Pataudry was just begging for someone to get a touch.
00:51:12Strong play again from Aberdeen going forward.
00:51:16Just over a minimum of two further to play.
00:51:24This is Topi Kesken in.
00:51:26It's there for Clarkson.
00:51:27What a block from Danny Wilson.
00:51:36Clarkson looks around in disbelief that his effort came up off the Livingston defender.
00:51:44A superb challenge.
00:51:51Canoester now.
00:51:55Clarkson.
00:51:57Lazatic!
00:51:58Off the post!
00:52:00And again it's blocked by McGowan.
00:52:03That was the chance.
00:52:06The final chance.
00:52:09Still no goal in the Premiership for Yemi Talin Zabardine.
00:52:13But they pick up their first point.
00:52:16The newly promoted sides boss happy to take a point from Pataudry.
00:52:21But it's further frustration for Aberdeen.
00:52:24It finishes at Pataudry.
00:52:26Aberdeen 0.
00:52:27Livingston 0.
00:52:29The good thing today was the chances we created.
00:52:32It was, I think it was three really good ones in the first half.
00:52:35And then the last ones in the situations in the box.
00:52:38And not so many against us.
00:52:39But still, we need, especially when you play at home.
00:52:42We have to be more up to speed and quicker as a team.
00:52:47More timing.
00:52:48And that's why we need to work really hard now to get this team going in full potential.
00:52:55I think we've got to give the players a lot of credit because it's an Aberdeen team that's brought a lot of new players in.
00:53:02Spent a lot of money in the summer.
00:53:03And the boys have come up here, kept a clean sheet.
00:53:05And I don't think Jerome really had a safety make.
00:53:08The one late on, I think it was Keshe that hit the post.
00:53:10But it was a foul on Gowser.
00:53:12The refs already said he was going to.
00:53:14So I don't think Jerome had a lot to do in the game.
00:53:17Could have nicked it for sale.
00:53:19Had a couple of no bad chances.
00:53:20Built the game no bad in the second half.
00:53:22So I'm fairly pleased with the kind of overall performance.
00:53:28Aberdeen's poor start to the season continues.
00:53:31Worrying times for them as they look for positives.
00:53:34Neil, was Jesper Carlsen a positive today?
00:53:37Comes with a big reputation?
00:53:38Yes, you could say that.
00:53:41I think Jimmy has played a certain way since he's come in.
00:53:47Another manager that's got his style of play.
00:53:49Two really quick wide players who are so positive what he'll go by.
00:53:53Him and Kesken in particular.
00:53:55And offer a real threat.
00:53:58Getting Nisbet is really good.
00:54:00Because having lost Guy and Nisbet, the goals had just evaporated.
00:54:04And if nobody else is chipping in, then you've got to look towards your number nine.
00:54:08He's right to say that they're creating chances.
00:54:10And you just have to repetition, repetition in training.
00:54:13Working on moves.
00:54:14They have an absolute way of playing.
00:54:16That's just nearly brilliant.
00:54:17Yeah, when they get into wide areas, the opposite wide man comes in.
00:54:21They're looking for cutbacks.
00:54:22That's just a wee glimpse of what he can offer.
00:54:24But as I said, they need to start really turning some of those chances into goals.
00:54:28Four games, no goals, one point, bottom of the league.
00:54:30Not good enough.
00:54:31Yeah, it's not good.
00:54:32They're talking about Motherwell only having draws to look at as well.
00:54:35So I think Jimmy Tulane will be really, really frustrated.
00:54:39After winning the Scottish Cup last year, there was so much optimism around Potaudry.
00:54:43And they've actually got a really strong squad.
00:54:45Oh, when you look at the bench today, I mean Armstrong, Clarkson, Povara.
00:54:49Yeah, they've got a really strong squad.
00:54:51So they should be serving up much better results.
00:54:53And I think Jimmy will know that.
00:54:55One thing I would say about him, he never looks panicked.
00:54:58I know David Martindale is saying that Priorn never had much to say.
00:55:01That's a brilliant save.
00:55:02I mean, that is top class save.
00:55:03That's fine in the far corner from Jensen.
00:55:05So he didn't have an awful lot to do, but it's not easy to say, by the way, in one sentence.
00:55:11But I think Livingston do deserve a point today.
00:55:16I know David Martindale, I don't think he'd have saved to make.
00:55:19I've seen three so far in this PT.
00:55:21I know, I know, the big man will be just dropping the DVD into his desk on Monday for a wee look at it.
00:55:26But it's so frustrating as an Aberdeen fan, it must be watching the highlights tonight.
00:55:31Because anybody that was there today will know the amount of chances.
00:55:33Five wins in 31, Neil.
00:55:35Yes, it's worrying.
00:55:37It is worrying.
00:55:38And it's something that need to arrest.
00:55:40Tell you what though, for David Martindale, a good point for Livingston.
00:55:44A clean sheet in a way of venue.
00:55:46I think that's their first clean sheet of the season.
00:55:48He's great to be pleased with his team's performance.
00:55:49Yeah, I'm not sure about nicking it.
00:55:53I know Big Yengi had a chance there again.
00:55:54But I think he would have been more than happy going down the road with a point.
00:55:58OK, to the late kick-off, as Hibernian welcomed Dundee United to Easter Road.
00:56:05It will be another five weeks before Hibs enjoy the home comforts of Easter Road.
00:56:10While Dundee United can look forward to a trio of games at Tannadice after today.
00:56:15A fixture usually not short of goals.
00:56:17Both sides have scored in every match this season.
00:56:20Hating matches between them.
00:56:23It's wet and miserable at Easter Road.
00:56:25And there's been plenty on the field to bring smiles.
00:56:30Hibs came from behind to secure a point at home last time out against St. Mirren.
00:56:34Four changes made.
00:56:36Ohora, Bowie, McGrath and Mulligan all come in.
00:56:39Out go Hanley, Hoylet, Shaiwa and Kledje.
00:56:41Dundee United went into the international break with a satisfying 2-0 win at Dundee.
00:56:48That's enough for Jim Goodwin who signed a new deal with Dundee United.
00:56:52He names an unchanged starting aloe.
00:56:55Oh, that's waterproof.
00:56:58Oh, that's waterproof.
00:57:00What's that?
00:57:03Oh, on the inside.
00:57:20Saksford always makes himself available.
00:57:24Ferry swings it in the header.
00:57:26And the opening goal goes the way of Dundee United.
00:57:29Well, they have been struggling.
00:57:31But it's the perfect goal from Lucas Stevenson.
00:57:34That was a lovely play.
00:57:36Kosheri cleared it.
00:57:37How about that for a cross from Ferry.
00:57:40And somehow hits it.
00:57:41Three defenders in the area.
00:57:44And couldn't find a way to keep that out.
00:57:46Burry.
00:57:57McGrath.
00:57:58Caden's on the overlap.
00:58:00Great tracking back.
00:58:02Well, they score at one end.
00:58:04Stopped the shot.
00:58:05Certainly a shot on target you would have thought from, Nicky Caden.
00:58:09At the other.
00:58:13McGrath up.
00:58:14Goalkeeper.
00:58:14Oh, it came forward and that came off Bushiri.
00:58:19Well, Kuczynko, if you're going to come for it, you've got to be a lot more positive than that.
00:58:24And that was so, so simple.
00:58:29Well, if you're going up against Rocky, you need to have a punch.
00:58:32And that wasn't much of one.
00:58:34In fact, that might go down as an on-goal.
00:58:39Rocky Bushiri tried to claim it momentarily, but I think it's been punched into his own neck.
00:58:49It's come short.
00:58:50Hibbs have got nobody in the back post.
00:58:54Chance again.
00:58:55Driven in by Stevenson.
00:59:00Just watch.
00:59:01Absolutely nobody picked up the run of Stevenson.
00:59:04There it went.
00:59:05Down on the chest.
00:59:06Back to Caden.
00:59:20It's a brilliant ball in again.
00:59:23Again, lots of work for the Dundee United defence to do more work here.
00:59:27And the diving header, great save.
00:59:29Very so close.
00:59:33Just to get quickly, Boyle.
00:59:35Scampered after that.
00:59:37It's a great diving header.
00:59:48Oh, fantastic.
00:59:49It's a new chance to run now.
00:59:52Pleased it through.
00:59:53There's two here for United.
00:59:54That's brilliant play.
00:59:55It's all about to cut back, Dolceic and it's in.
00:59:59That is absolutely terrific from Dundee United.
01:00:02And Zach Sapford scores him back-to-back.
01:00:05Scottish Premiership matches on the road.
01:00:10And that got him moving.
01:00:12Held enough to make sure these players were onside.
01:00:16And selfishly took it round.
01:00:18And the cutback was beautiful.
01:00:20I mentioned Dolceic hadn't been involved.
01:00:22But he got himself involved there.
01:00:25Took over.
01:00:27Realised the angle was too narrow.
01:00:29That's a great finish.
01:00:31Looks a little loose.
01:00:32Mulligan tried to close down.
01:00:36Fata.
01:00:37Fata.
01:00:38Drives the ball across.
01:00:39Chance!
01:00:41And it's the second for Stevenson.
01:00:43Well, Dundee United have started the second half like an absolute train.
01:00:54That's it.
01:00:55Turned on the burners.
01:00:56Clipped it across.
01:00:58And Stevenson read it.
01:01:00Nicky Cannon caught out at the far post.
01:01:03And a minute into the second half.
01:01:05Dundee United lead by three goals to one.
01:01:07There comes Cader.
01:01:17Here comes Cader.
01:01:18Drills that across.
01:01:20Flagstead down.
01:01:23As Moyle came through.
01:01:24Did not have countings.
01:01:34Play continues.
01:01:35Bowies past his man.
01:01:36This for three, two.
01:01:39Well, Dundee United won a free kick.
01:01:41Referee Dan McFarlane says no.
01:01:43But now, the celebration has come to a close.
01:01:51That was the free kick.
01:01:52It looked like a free kick.
01:01:54The ball rolled its way onto Bowie.
01:01:57And he finished it well.
01:02:01I think the assistant decided that the challenge from Mulligan was illegal.
01:02:05So, the goal has been officially disallowed by the on-field team.
01:02:13That is now being checked by VAR, John Beaton and Sean Carr.
01:02:19As John Beaton's in conversation.
01:02:22The goal is given.
01:02:25Well, the celebrations may have been cut short, but they restart.
01:02:28It's a lovely ball across.
01:02:40Crease side.
01:02:41Almost an instant impact.
01:02:45Well, this is how you want to make an impact.
01:02:47Junior Hoylet.
01:02:49Captain Canada.
01:02:51In the international week.
01:02:53Fell to him.
01:02:54Took it in his stride.
01:02:55That's a good save.
01:02:57That's a foul.
01:02:58And then he decides.
01:03:00Daniel Barlaza.
01:03:04Will they be allowed to continue?
01:03:06Here's the chance for Dundee United.
01:03:08Out wide it goes.
01:03:09Chiré.
01:03:11Pitch goal is Chiré.
01:03:14Again, look at the willingness of the United midfield to get forward.
01:03:18Saps for the cross.
01:03:19Dolce.
01:03:21Perfectly teed it up.
01:03:23International duty for Togo.
01:03:24It's a great play.
01:03:32It's a great play.
01:03:32McGrath.
01:03:33What can he set up?
01:03:34He's got Hoylet.
01:03:36Hoylet into the middle.
01:03:36This for the equaliser.
01:03:37Good play from Hibs Bowie.
01:03:43Given too much space by.
01:03:46The rest is short to Mulligan.
01:03:50Barlaza into the middle.
01:03:51Goalkeeper comes again.
01:03:52Gets the touch.
01:03:53And no more.
01:03:53The shot comes in.
01:03:54The save.
01:03:55Hoylet tries to go in.
01:03:56Being over.
01:03:59And Kusher-Enkopp is playing at East the Road like some Hibs goalkeepers in the past have played.
01:04:080-4 for Sapsward.
01:04:10Into the middle it goes.
01:04:11Opportunity here for Dundee United.
01:04:13There's the real touch.
01:04:14Sapsward was cleared in.
01:04:16It's not over yet.
01:04:17It's a lovely play by Muller to send in Sapsward.
01:04:26Again, the lovely little touch.
01:04:28Muller played inside.
01:04:29It's good goalkeeping work from Jordan Smith.
01:04:32Hoylet is up.
01:04:33Only get to.
01:04:35Like he's duck.
01:04:35Goalkeeper comes again.
01:04:37Punches.
01:04:37There's a shout for handball.
01:04:41No, it was Messi.
01:04:42Sapsward was back there.
01:04:44Ball driven across.
01:04:45All these are getting in there.
01:04:48Now McGrath with a little spin.
01:04:51And the United everybody back almost inside that area.
01:04:54Hibs are still going.
01:04:57And now Sapsward sends it out wide.
01:05:02So it came across.
01:05:05Now watch Bowie.
01:05:06Bowie went down under the challenge.
01:05:09It's the handball that is being considered.
01:05:15And this is the picture.
01:05:20Did that come up off his arm?
01:05:23The arm was out.
01:05:25And it brushes just below the short sleeve.
01:05:32Penelope.
01:05:33And it's a red card.
01:05:40Pitchcock-Sharry is ordered off.
01:05:45It was the initial pull, but his arm came out.
01:05:53Takes another breath.
01:05:54Short run up.
01:05:55Keeper went the right way.
01:05:58The ball went beyond him and into the corner.
01:06:01And it's three apiece.
01:06:03Jamie McGrath looked confident.
01:06:05Right footed.
01:06:06The goalkeeper just couldn't reach it.
01:06:16Can the United play it through?
01:06:18Here's the chance they've been waiting for.
01:06:20This is for the hat-trick.
01:06:21And Jonathan Smith makes the save with his foot.
01:06:38Oh, Peter.
01:06:40That will break down.
01:06:41Bowie was held!
01:06:43Perhaps won a penalty.
01:06:46And they may well have a claim.
01:06:47Simple ball across by a beat-up.
01:06:52Was there a tug?
01:06:54Well, there's no end of drama in this one.
01:06:58Caden into the middle.
01:06:59It's a brilliant effort!
01:07:02And Junior Hoylet forces the save.
01:07:06Well, that's what Caden gives you.
01:07:07That kind of delivery.
01:07:10I think the debrief will be quite lengthy as well.
01:07:15The positives to take from it is we didn't lose the game.
01:07:18In a game when we defended really poorly across the board.
01:07:21Very reactive rather than being proactive.
01:07:23Which is even unlike us, to be honest.
01:07:25So from that side to it, the positive is we got a point out of a game that we could have easily lost.
01:07:30When you think about the chances we gave up.
01:07:31The big saves the goalkeepers had to make.
01:07:33But credit to the players for pushing and pushing.
01:07:36We did have big moments in the game ourselves.
01:07:38Found ourselves behind in the game a couple of times.
01:07:40So to get a point out of it, after all, that's probably a slight positive.
01:07:43But we need to be a lot better, we know that.
01:07:46A brilliant game at Easter Road.
01:07:47Definitely the game of the day for me, that Neil, without a doubt.
01:07:50Lucas Stevenson scored two great goals.
01:07:52Probably could have had about four or five goals in the game.
01:07:54He certainly could have got his hat-tricked right at the end.
01:07:57Smith with a brilliant say.
01:07:58But you can see why Jim wanted him back to secure his services for another season.
01:08:02I mean, he's not the one that you think is going to come in and be powering headers at the back post.
01:08:07But his bravery is good here.
01:08:10Really poor, as David said there.
01:08:11You go towards the ball.
01:08:13You can see there's defenders backing off.
01:08:15I think it's Cadden at the back post.
01:08:16And when the ball's put in with an absolutely brilliant quality,
01:08:20you can see that the defenders are a bit flat-footed.
01:08:22Stevenson's on the move, gets across and gets his rewards.
01:08:25A brilliant little header.
01:08:25But the ball in was superb.
01:08:27Yeah, absolutely.
01:08:28He's actually a really good player, Ferry.
01:08:30Now he'd become Dundee United captain.
01:08:32But again, you can just see him sneaking in at the back post there.
01:08:35Cadden just switches off.
01:08:36I have no idea where he is.
01:08:37And there's no idea.
01:08:37I mean, he's just got to open up.
01:08:39You can't see, you can't let a defender or a forward see a number.
01:08:43He's got to be aware.
01:08:44At no time does he take a look behind him.
01:08:46And he nips in and gets his second goal.
01:08:48Brilliant goal.
01:08:49Brilliant game.
01:08:50I have to agree.
01:08:51Let's look at the Bowie goal.
01:08:53There was a bit of kind of debate around the on-field decision for offside.
01:08:58Now I've got the SFA guidance here.
01:09:00Hib's second goal disallowed for offside on-field.
01:09:03This was the wrong decision as the defender played the ball to the attacking player who
01:09:07was offside.
01:09:08VAR correctly overturned this factually good VAR process.
01:09:12A wee pat on the back for themselves there.
01:09:13Are you enjoying that?
01:09:13Well, they've got the second one from you as well there.
01:09:16You can see the pressure's good.
01:09:18I mean, it's an absolute killer pass.
01:09:19Straight pass.
01:09:21Chevelle's got his back to the game.
01:09:23Doesn't know the pressure's coming.
01:09:24And as we'll see in the second replay, I mean, full marks to this guy.
01:09:28This guy, would I love to have seen him get some game time for Scotland.
01:09:30He's fast becoming a very, very good number nine.
01:09:34But as you can see here, the contact is there.
01:09:37I think Dundee United are expecting a foul.
01:09:39But he just nudges it forward.
01:09:41So he indeed plays the ball back into Bowie.
01:09:44And the big man dispatches it.
01:09:45This one will just clear it up there.
01:09:46There's a contact and there's a drag from Chevelle just to knock it into Bowie.
01:09:50But I tell you what, he's still got a lot to do.
01:09:51Really good feet.
01:09:52He's awareness that the defender's coming on his shoulder and just getting the half yard
01:09:56and turning and slotting it away.
01:09:57We're going to see it for the fourth time here.
01:09:58I'm running out of things to describe it.
01:10:00But listen, what I will say is this guy, this guy looks a real ready-made number nine, isn't he?
01:10:07He does.
01:10:08I was hoping you were going to jump in and help me.
01:10:09That was absolutely drowning.
01:10:11It wasn't helping you.
01:10:12Jamie McGrath scored through the penalty spot later on.
01:10:14Chevelle's sent off.
01:10:16Harsh for me.
01:10:17I think it's a ridiculous decision.
01:10:20I really do.
01:10:21I thought it was for pulling.
01:10:22I thought Bowie was getting a penalty against our forum for his jersey pull.
01:10:25Bashiri was getting his jersey pulled by Chevelle.
01:10:27Well, I think Chevelle is almost trying to make contact with Bowie here.
01:10:31Watch there's a little nudge from the goalkeeper there.
01:10:33And he puts his hand across, almost trying to make contact with Bowie.
01:10:36Bowie gets his shot away.
01:10:38It does come off his hand.
01:10:39I don't think he's intentionally making his body bigger.
01:10:41It's where it is because he's trying to put his hand across to Bowie.
01:10:44I tell you what, it shouldn't happen though.
01:10:46Kucharenko shouldn't be coming for crosses anymore.
01:10:48Because that's two he's been involved in and two goals.
01:10:50It ends up resulting in the back of his neck.
01:10:52And it was his pass, obviously, in to Bowie for the second.
01:10:54Yeah, exactly.
01:10:55Yeah, he's had a difficult evening.
01:10:57But honestly, I'm with you here, Tom.
01:10:59I know it comes off his hand.
01:11:00But listen, maybe that's a wee bit of the justice.
01:11:03Because Hibs felt they should have got one.
01:11:04They should have had a penalty last game.
01:11:06They should have.
01:11:07And I think that should have been a penalty.
01:11:09But they get a wee bit of luck tonight.
01:11:11And Jamie McGrath, who is a super player, dispatches it.
01:11:14But I tell you what, even then the game wasn't done.
01:11:17There was probably about another three or four chances.
01:11:18Were you having Hibs' 150th anniversary kit?
01:11:21Didn't like it at all.
01:11:22It looks like another strip.
01:11:24I just didn't like it.
01:11:25Do you think Hibs will wear that Ibrox next week?
01:11:28They probably should.
01:11:29You liked the look of Kamara in the United midfield, didn't you?
01:11:33Yeah, absolutely.
01:11:34Dolceic as well.
01:11:36Sapsford.
01:11:36I think Jim is...
01:11:38And I have to be honest here, I watched them in the early European games.
01:11:40I wasn't sure they were a wee bit shaky.
01:11:42But they look as if they've found a little bit of power within the group.
01:11:46They've got pace.
01:11:47That was two teams actually that have shown how dangerous.
01:11:51Playing similar shapes at times throughout the early part of the season.
01:11:54But their purpose is attack with pace and power.
01:11:57And tonight was just a joy to watch.
01:11:59Jim Goodwin signed a new deal last week.
01:12:01Certainly deserved.
01:12:02They're a good fit, the club and him.
01:12:03They've got a good relationship and a good bit of business for both, I'd say.
01:12:07Absolutely.
01:12:08Jim's not...
01:12:08I mean, the tough time up at Aberdeen.
01:12:10Went into United, went down, bounced back.
01:12:12I think he's found a real home there.
01:12:14He's getting lots of support.
01:12:15But they like him.
01:12:16And you can see that he's serving up good football for Dundee United.
01:12:20For Hibs, their next game is at Ibrox.
01:12:22The League Cup quarterfinal.
01:12:25Given what's happened today.
01:12:27And we'll see what the fallout of today is.
01:12:29But Hibs will go there confident they can get a result, won't they?
01:12:33There's no question.
01:12:34Absolutely no question.
01:12:35I wonder what the start would be the last time both Edinburgh clubs went to Glasgow and got results.
01:12:39But Rangers need to arrest the situation they're in right now.
01:12:42They need to really address how they're playing.
01:12:44They can't play like they're playing and expect to go and beat Hibs.
01:12:47Because this team, I think, will go there with the full confidence that if they can turn it on like they did tonight and showed throughout the early parts of this season,
01:12:54and even in Europe, they've got players that can really damage Rangers.
01:12:57So the structure needs to be bang on the money.
01:13:00But they're confident, aren't they?
01:13:01Yeah, of course they are.
01:13:01And they've got the squad capable of doing it.
01:13:03Of course they are.
01:13:03They've got a number nine at scoring goals.
01:13:05They've got the pace and flair on the outsides.
01:13:07They've got a real set way of playing.
01:13:09So there's a trust there.
01:13:10And when you've got that, of course you're going to be confident.
01:13:13We didn't manage to get Jim Goodwin there as an interview.
01:13:16We didn't manage to get it in time.
01:13:16But you can catch that online.
01:13:18No problem at all.
01:13:19Just go and get it.
01:13:20Let's have a wee look at the table.
01:13:23So, Hearts top of the league tonight on 13 points.
01:13:27Hibsit in third.
01:13:28St Milt's win has them on six points in fourth.
01:13:32Motherwell United and Levy on fifth.
01:13:33Rangers in tenth place with Dundee, eleventh and Aberdeen.
01:13:37Bottom on one point.
01:13:40And here is what's coming up for you to enjoy.
01:13:42Over the next few days, SWPL.

01:14:05And that is it for tonight.
01:14:07Thank you to Neil for joining me.
01:14:08I promise we'll have a conversation about what we're wearing before we come on next time.
01:14:12I'll text you.
01:14:13Good night.
01:14:13I'm going to get it started.
01:14:18Don't need to be this kind of.
01:14:21Don't like you're giving up so many times before.
01:14:25I'm still here, right now.
01:14:27I'm going to get it started.
01:14:30Don't need to be this kind of.
01:14:33Don't like you're giving up so many times before.
01:14:37I'm still here, right now.

01:14:46Don't like you're giving up so many times before.
01:14:47Don't like you're giving up so many times before.
01:14:48Don't like you're giving up so many times before.
01:14:49Don't like you're giving up so many times before.
01:14:50Don't like you're giving up so many times before.
01:14:51Don't like you're giving up so many times before.

01:14:57Don't like you're giving up so many times before.
01:14:59Don't like you're giving up so many times before.
01:15:01Don't like you're giving up so many times before.
