00:00
I've just been up at Blackmoor Gate in Devon with Farmers to Action.
00:04
They're a trailer of truth which is travelling the country.
00:06
I'm Richard White, a beef and sheep farmer from North Devon.
00:10
I'm here today with Farmers to Action and other farming groups in Unity
00:14
showing awareness to the government that we haven't gone away.
00:18
We haven't actually got a clear path of where the industry's going
00:21
and I think we need to sit round the table with a blank piece of paper
00:26
and, you know, we produce food but we subsidise it.
00:33
We work for very little money.
00:35
Everything we do earn goes back into the farm.
00:38
We're heading to Liverpool with this trailer and to the Labour conference
00:43
and it would be great to meet Emma Reynolds, the new DEFRA Minister,
00:49
and discuss our issues.
00:51
... respect. That's what we're here for, is to help us get our food
00:56
to our people and help them to get nice food, good food and a good buy.
01:00
Selling our food, etc. and everything else and just helping the farmers
01:03
and I think they should all be on our side helping us.
01:06
We're here to do a job and that's what we like to do.
01:09
That's what we prove that we want to do for people to help them.
01:12
And it's sending a very simple message to Labour
01:14
that if you want to ensure that this country is able to feed itself,
01:18
that it has that national security,
01:21
you need to change your track with the family farm tax
01:24
and you also need to restore the nature-friendly farming funding
01:29
so that farmers are able to produce the food that we all need.
01:32
Now this trailer is going all over the country,
01:34
all the way up to Liverpool for Labour Party conference
01:37
and Labour must listen to our nation's farmers
01:40
because without them there is no future.
