It's one of the oldest Aboriginal art festivals in Australia and brings hundreds of artists, and their works, from across the country's interior to Alice Springs, in a celebration of desert culture and storytelling. The Desert Mob weekend is a source of pride for locals, and features artist talks, a bustling marketplace, and an exhibition.

00:05Desert Mob, one of the longest running Aboriginal art festivals in the country,
00:10has descended on Alice Springs again.
00:13Overall we have 35 art centres represented in this year's event.
00:17So you can imagine that's representing thousands and thousands of artists from this region.
00:22So it's pretty unique and it's a real privilege to be a part of it.
00:26It's just always been a celebration of art centres and artists
00:30and being able to come into Mbanta which is sort of like this hub for Aboriginal communities
00:35and celebrate Desert Mob.
00:37With a major exhibition, artist talks and a marketplace, there's something for everyone.
00:43This marketplace brings people from across Australia to the centre
00:47to buy their little piece of the desert.
00:49I came to Alice Springs to come to Desert Mob. I've been a few times.
00:53It's just a really great art fair.
00:56You want your art. That's where I come from.
00:58So definitely that's a great place to look.
