00:00Engine, they're running, and the gate's down.
00:05This time, Jett Lawrence, a good start.
00:07He's on the inside of Sexton, and he has no progressive hole shot.
00:11You see him run the four wide right there, coming out of the corner, using up all the track.
00:16Exactly what you need to do, but this is going to be a battle.
00:19Mistake by the 96.
00:21Will that allow?
00:22Oh, no, it's Tomek going around Sexton.
00:24Yeah, you see Eli, I mean, Chase was just kind of logging, gagging,
00:27and Eli, he knows he wants to get up there with that number one, how strong Jett is,
00:31and that was a close moment by Ken Rockson and Hunter Lawrence.
00:35Ken almost landing on him.
00:36You're talking about an ending.
00:38Oh, look at Tomek.
00:39Line by Tomek, jumping into the sand section.
00:43Now, Ricky, you talked about in that first photo, Jett maybe kind of eases the way in.
00:48All these guys know that.
00:50That's why you're seeing how aggressive Eli is.
00:51He knows he's just got to make that pass on this track right now.
00:54Well, Eli was running really strong last week until he went down,
00:59so I think that Eli has good speed to get the job done for sure.
01:05Man.
01:06And Hunter Lawrence needs to get to third to win the overall with that first moto win.
01:10He's in fourth right now.
01:11Had that mistake early.
01:12He's rebounded.
01:13He's putting pressure on Sexton.
01:15Almost made the move.
01:18Yeah, that thing.
01:18Oh, here you go.
01:19Yeah, it's a nice move, but Hunter's been fast.
01:21You know, ironically, Chase didn't have the best finish, but him, Hunter Lawrence,
01:25and Jett Lawrence was the only riders in the 52s there, you know, as far as his racetrack.
01:30Excuse me.
01:31So Chase has the pace.
01:34The 96 looks like he's ultra aggressive.
01:36It's like you said.
01:37You always saw it.
01:37I mean, Chase always has good pace.
01:40Always.
01:41Oh, another line from Hunter Lawrence on the inside.
01:44Sexton doesn't square him up.
01:45And just like that, Hunter's in third.
01:48Looks like something's going on with Chase Sexton's goggles.
01:51Oh, yeah.
01:51He's messing with his goggles.
01:53He's doing that, going into the corner.
01:54He did it on the jump after the corner he got passed by.
01:59Nearly got passed by Cooper Webb on the blue number two here, and things coming unraveled
02:03for the rider on the number four, who is second in the championship coming into this race.
02:07Yeah, a couple things happened right there.
02:09Chase went to go pull a tear off, and I believe it got stuck.
02:11But he also thought Hunter Lawrence was closer to him, so he gave that position up thinking
02:15Hunter was close.
02:16Hunter wasn't.
02:17He was like, well, I'll take it.
02:18But, yeah, I think it was more of a tear off issue with Chase, but it's costly.
02:23Here comes Roxen on the progressive Suzuki, the yellow 94, right behind his old championship
02:29rival in Supercross Cooper Webb, and they're attacking Sexton.
02:34And the championship points as they run.
02:37Chad would still have the championship lead over his brother Hunter, but remember his triple
02:41points next week.
02:42It's within range for Hunter, if he can go out and win here and next week.
02:50Man, you think this corner right here has wreaked havoc for a lot of riders tonight.
02:55Something so simple that you would think, oh, John, it's just a sand roller corner, and
03:00how difficult it is for the best in the world.
03:04Yeah, and I think it's getting even more difficult because you see that base coming up.
03:07So now that sand's got deep, it's rough, and now they're hitting a hard base.
03:11So you're expecting sand, and then all of a sudden you hit a hard rock bottom, catching
03:16these guys out.
03:18Good battle here between Webb and Roxen.
03:21You've got Joey Savace and Justin Barsha through next.
03:25Really difficult to make that inside on the split lane when you come off of that double.
03:29The reason it is, kind of like James was saying, how this dirt's starting to get a bit harder,
03:34and there's a lot of braking bumps going in that corner, and the guys seem like it's
03:38a rough ride, and they're having a hard time really getting stopped.
03:42Tight corner as well.
03:46And Sexton able to pull back away from the three-time Supercross champion Webb.
03:52Not quite where he was earlier in the season when he won that Supercross title, had knee
03:56surgery during the summer, and that was the rider that he beat.
04:00Sexton for that title.
04:01It was a nail-biter.
04:02And that's a thing.
04:04These guys have been racing all summer.
04:06Coop had to have his knee worked on.
04:07Don't discount that time off.
04:09It wasn't an ideal time to be missing on the bike.
04:13There's never an ideal time to be missing time away.
04:16And I think the part where he was struggling, it's just that intensity in these opening laps,
04:23not racing, it'd be difficult.
04:25There's some intensity, James.
04:26Here's Tomac keeping the heat on Jet.
04:29Yeah.
04:30And every lap Eli stays there, he's going to get more confidence.
04:32Jet started pulling away, Ricky, but I don't know if he made a mistake or Eli picked it up.
04:36But I'm going to go back to, and I touched on it a little bit last week, is you just don't
04:42know if, like, where, I mean, obviously Jet's riding hard, but he's okay with a small gap.
04:49This generation is different than when James and I raced, where if you weren't five to
04:54ten seconds ahead, you know, you're going to get beat.
04:57So it's so hard to tell, you know, like, I don't want to discount or discredit what
05:02Eli's doing, because he's a bad dude, but you just, I'm just always wondering, okay,
05:06well, is Jet just maintaining?
05:08Yeah.
05:09It's hard to tell.
05:09Yeah, I think, you know, talking to Jet, he knows if he gets a gap, he can put this
05:15race away.
05:16I think he can start making Eli ride behind him.
05:19But when he's smart, he's going to almost let Eli dictate it.
05:23He's like, I'm going to ride this pace.
05:24I'm okay with him being there.
05:25But until he picks that pace up, I don't want to take that chance of going down.
05:29And when Eli closes up, you're going to see the number one picks up.
05:32So it's closed up now, James.
05:34The legendary towback scene on the Ares, Tron Ares drone cam.
05:40A reminder, that movie headed to theaters October 10th.
05:45Towback, two-time Supercross champion, five-time Pro Motocross champion.
05:50He's giving Jet Lawrence all he can handle.
05:53That was what I was talking about.
05:54You saw in the split lane, both of those two riders going to the outside, I think, because
05:59of the conditions on the inside.
06:01If it was good enough, I do feel like E.T. would have went on that inside.
06:06Yeah, no, I agree.
06:07I believe.
06:08Yeah, I agree.
06:09Eli has been in this position a lot this summer.
06:11But as a rider, you try to go back to history and find some good ones.
06:16When you go back to San Diego Supercross, Eli was able to pass Jet the last time we were
06:20in the stadium.
06:21These guys were battling.
06:22So I think he's going to try to rely on that because outdoor season didn't go good.
06:25He always ended here.
06:27He knows how important this race is, and he didn't get it.
06:29And the crowd coming to life.
06:31They would love to see Tomek give the fight to Jet.
06:36See Jet coming out of the corner.
06:37He's losing the rear end a little bit compared to Eli.
06:40I, myself personally, I think Eli is the best at running this paddle tire, or the scoop
06:46tire, pardon me.
06:50Yeah, that tire, a controversial pick for a track like this with multiple soils.
06:54Yeah, I didn't see it coming.
06:56And I still don't know, James, you and I were talking about it.
06:58I still don't know.
06:59I'm not sold on it for these conditions.
07:01Yeah, but, you know, as Eli, you know, we can talk.
07:03It might not, oh, it's nice.
07:04My Jen pulled that out.
07:06It might not be good, but it's kind of the way I used to set my motorcycle up.
07:10People are saying, it doesn't work.
07:11And I'm like, I know.
07:12But the thing is, I know it doesn't work.
07:14And it's more about just that, you know, confidence and knowing I know exactly where
07:19it does not work or we're good at.
07:21And maybe that's why Eli continues to run that tire.
07:24And it's no difference, too, for the people watching here than compromising on suspension.
07:31If you get something that works well in a rhythm lane, it might not work as well in the corners
07:35because it's too stiff and you're not maximizing the grip that you could potentially be getting.
07:40Same with the tire, JT.
07:43And I agree with you guys.
07:45It may not be the ideal choice.
07:47But I think Eli's experience with that tire is what's paying off.
07:51This is really the only tire that he will use.
07:54It's a rare occurrence on the hardest-packed Supercross tracks where he'll now go away from it.
07:58But every other time he is on that Yamaha 450, he's on that tire.
08:03So I think hard-packed conditions, when the track's deteriorating to this spot,
08:08he is a little bit more comfortable with the tire than maybe Jett and Hunter would be.
08:12JT, trust is what came across to me when I asked Eli yesterday.
08:16Press conference before they started racing where anybody took to the track,
08:20asked him, is the scoop tire on?
08:21And he just went, yep, and it's not coming off.
08:24And it was already made.
08:25That decision was made.
08:26So the trust that he has is clearly there.
08:28Yeah, well, that's one last thing he has to, I guess, worry about.
08:31But I think the only thing I would say that affects Eli is that, yeah, he's comfortable with it.
08:36He knows what he's going to do.
08:37But I think he has a hard time getting outside the box.
08:40Even when we saw that first moto, making, changing the lines up, switching the lines up,
08:44that tire won't allow him to do that.
08:46So he can stay here with Jett.
08:48But if he doesn't have the grip to build or change his line to get around Jett,
08:51I mean, what are you using it for?
08:53Well, we talk about that, too.
08:55But at the same time, we're assuming that they haven't done a lot.
08:58Maybe it hasn't made the improvements for side grip, you know, when you're on that sidewall.
09:04Maybe the scoop tire performs well in that area nowadays.
09:08So the compromise isn't, the gap isn't as big, perhaps.
09:12That's what they have said.
09:13They've come a long way to make that.
09:14That tire originally designed for mud and sand.
09:16It's not as far off in the other stuff, the harder terrain than the traditional NAMI tire.
09:22This battle in the bottom box is R.J. Hefshire on that white Rockstar Husk Varda.
09:26He's caught Justin Barsha on the Rockstar Gas Gas.
09:30Those are sister operations, those teams.
09:33As Jett Lawrence to the top box, starting to roll away from Tomac, though.
09:39And it's tough, James, when he starts to inch away just like that every little bit.
09:45Yeah, we go back to earlier where I was saying he could put this away, just this gap.
09:49Eventually, Eli's going to be like, well, he's gone.
09:52I'm going to start riding for second.
09:54That's going to bring Hunter Lawrence back into this thing.
09:56So, yeah, he's definitely picked up the pace for sure.
10:00Halfway through this one, boys, and it's 10 minutes down, 10 minutes to go.
10:05Remind to that monster energy is available now.
10:09This will not affect the overall.
10:11Hunter goes after Tomac.
10:13Hunter still would have the overall win with a first and a third over Jett's fourth and first.
10:18Take a look at Jett's lines coming out of the corner.
10:21I really like that, especially where we're at in this race and how the track is shaping up.
10:26It's starting to get really ruddy.
10:27James was talking about how it's starting to get hard and slick.
10:31We're getting down to the base, how that base is hard.
10:33Jett's turning down early, and when he's doing that, he's getting more traction.
10:38He's staying out of that blue groove area, if you will.
10:41Oh!
10:42Oh!
10:43That was close.
10:44Yeah, that was close.
10:45I completely agree.
10:47And in that sand section, it seems to me like he's riding up into the sand and then turning once he banks off,
10:53like he's banking off the sand instead of doing what we saw with Chase Sexton trying to stay underneath and he was slipping and sliding.
10:59So he's adapting, and he did that that first race.
11:01He's doing it in the second one, and that's why he's starting to inch away.
11:04Yeah, it really shows up.
11:06He's been doing it in this right-hander quite a bit.
11:08Yeah, right.
11:09He's right there on the edge.
11:11He'll turn down early.
11:12Just a couple inches lower.
11:16Yeah, and what he's trying to do is avoid that shiny stuff, that light dirt.
11:21He's trying to stay away from that, so him staying into this darker dirt, that's where the traction is.
11:26You can see to the left of that.
11:28That's that shiny stuff he's missing.
11:31Hampshire really pressing Barchanel.
11:34That on-and-off tabletop right there, when those guys come out of the corner, they triple onto the table,
11:40then they go onto the next tabletop, and over that single.
11:43If you don't grease the backside of that three-footer, it takes a lot of energy to knock over the handlebars right there in that section.
11:51I know.
11:52It does.
11:53It really does.
11:54But RJ's doing a good job, Will.
11:57Incredible.
11:57We kind of got used to it from motocross, right, James?
12:00It was like, there's RJ again, top five, top five.
12:03But Supercross is different because he has not ridden a 450 Supercross season.
12:08We saw him Daytona, that one-off race, but we haven't seen him set his bike up for it.
12:12I was asking Nate Ramsey, the team manager at Rotsal Hascovano, about that.
12:16And he said, we're getting there.
12:17It's actually been going really well.
12:19He said, but my main thing for RJ is you have a great Supercross season ahead of you in 2026.
12:25Let's figure the bike out.
12:26Let's take this time for testing.
12:28Because I'm going to stay healthy.
12:29That's his message to him.
12:31I feel like RJ's ride in the outdoor motocross was just as impressive as Jets' championship run
12:38when you consider all the things.
12:40Yeah, he looks like a seasoned veteran right here in this class.
12:44Cool to see.
12:44Hunter Lawrence closing on Tomac now.
12:48And it wouldn't have that big of an effect on the overall.
12:51It wouldn't change it at all when you average the two motos together.
12:54But it just shows how strong the 96 is riding.
12:56Yeah, as I was mentioning earlier, eventually if Jets started to slip away, Eli would start riding behind him, which would bring that 96.
13:03And I'm Hunter Lawrence.
13:05I want Eli to just continue going.
13:06I don't want to be close to him because you see how difficult this track is.
13:09These guys are making mistakes by themselves, let alone if you're in a battle.
13:13I don't want to be close to him either in front of him or farther than I'm back.
13:17Just explain riding behind you that Tomac might be doing right now.
13:20Yeah, so what Eli's doing, so at first it's like a dog track, you know, the horses.
13:25They chase that rabbit around.
13:26Well, that rabbit's Jet Lawrence.
13:28If you can see the rabbit, you'll continue to chase it while he's pulling away.
13:32So now Eli, it's just hard to keep that intensity up when you don't have that rabbit to go.
13:37And now you're starting to see the 96 going.
13:39So it's easy to wrap behind you.
13:40I think that's more about what Jet's doing rather than what Eli is.
13:44Hefshire made the move on Marsha.
13:48Show it to you here.
13:49Setting him up, using that outside, similar to what Jet is doing, but then he falls in the rut.
13:55And, oh, Marsha isn't able to go on the tabletop.
14:00Layup pass for RJ, doubles to the inside, and great pass.
14:06Pretty simple, actually.
14:09So that'll put him in eighth behind Savace.
14:11Riding well on that privateer quadlock Honda.
14:13Rocks in sixth.
14:15Ooh, that was nice.
14:17Hunter putting pressure on ET3 right now.
14:20Yeah, by his body language, Chase is, you know, about five, six seconds behind him.
14:24So Hunter's not taking any chances.
14:26You can see him when he gets in the middle part of the corner, he sits up.
14:29You know, make sure he comes out.
14:31He's not getting on the gas too hard.
14:32Don't want to slide around.
14:33So pretty comfortable.
14:34He knows where it is.
14:35And as long as Eli keeps that pace and the number four stays behind him, he'll be fine to stay where he's at.
14:42Missed around two.
14:43We'll get to win round two again, Hunter Lawrence, just like he did the last two years, if he hangs on.
14:50Oh, look at this.
14:51Savace now under fire from Henshire.
14:54Yeah, unfortunate for Joey.
14:55He's going to be under fire the whole time because we, you know, RJ, he never stopped charging like the Energizer Bunny.
15:01There he is out there, continuing to go.
15:03So watch you, the veteran out of Georgia.
15:10Inside right here.
15:11Got him.
15:12There's the pass from the Florida man.
15:15So continuing to impress in the premier 450 division, Henshire.
15:21That'll be seventh, but rocks it ahead.
15:26I mean, think about this with RJ.
15:28I mean, how banged up his wrist was.
15:31Wasn't sure if he was going to continue through Philly.
15:34They have a red flag.
15:35He comes out, gets the whole shot, changes the whole scenario.
15:39Almost wins the championship, and then comes out on the 450, wasn't 100%, and is riding incredible.
15:49Yes, he is.
15:52Yeah, and as Will said, this is just preparation for next year, first full season on the 450.
15:59He could be a player.
16:01I think that the 450, James, you and I have talked about this for RJ.
16:06I think it suits his style.
16:09He doesn't have to ride the bike as hard as he did the 250, and so, like, his chances of going down because of that isn't as high, you know, because it fits his style a little bit better, and I like that for RJ.
16:27Yeah, no, I agree.
16:28We saw in the motocross season, the Ruffeter track guy, RJ was really good.
16:33You go to this race, it's brutal out there.
16:35These guys are struggling.
16:36But RJ is one of the best at being comfortable, being uncomfortable, as Hunter Lawrence looks like he got a little whiskey thrown, almost ran off the racetrack right there.
16:44Nice save, Bob, and Chase is starting to keep that gap closed.
16:49Yeah, he is.
16:50One little slip up from ET3, and Hunter's going to be right there.
16:55But, again, Hunter might be content with where he's at, looking at big picture here, going into Vegas, giving him a shot at the championship, just like last year.
17:05Yeah, there's the points right there, RC.
17:07Boom.
17:07He needs six points down, and you gain nine if you win the race in triple points next week, even if Jet Lawrence finishes second.
17:14If I'm Hunter, and it's the last moto next weekend in Vegas, and my brother is in front of me, I am not tying with him and losing the championship.
17:29I might have to sweep the leg.
17:30Hey, I asked Jet during the interview, I don't know if we caught him, but I asked him, I was like, what if you get in that scenario where your brother is the one that you have to beat to win the bunny and win that championship, would you take him out?
17:45And he said, I don't know, but he said, Hunter probably would.
17:51We're going to find out, little brother-on-brother crime, next week in Vegas.
17:56The two Australians are going to duke it out just like they did last year.
17:59It was tied in points last year.
18:01Jet won the world title, and the $1 million, the tiebreaker, which was more wins.
18:06He had two, Hunter had one.
18:09Same scenario this year.
18:10They're both looking at a win apiece going into the finale if it ends like this.
18:15What a testament to that factory Honda HRC team.
18:18I mean, it's not just the 450 bikes that are working well, it's the 250 as well.
18:24I mean, look at Joe, how well he's doing, and it just seems like the energy and the vibe over there at that race team is at an all-time high.
18:33All boats rowing in the same direction.
18:37Look at that stat there on the lower left.
18:39Honda has won every 450 race in the playoff format so far.
18:43Chase Sexton won one when he was a Honda rider two years ago, and the Lawrence's have won every one since.
18:49Caveat that, Witt, they do have Jet.
18:52It helps.
18:53Yeah.
18:54Speaking of that, Hunter gets overshadowed by Jet because Jet continues to win.
19:00But how many second places has he had in these championships?
19:03I mean, take out Jet Lawrence.
19:05Hunter might be a four-time champion at this.
19:07He would have won this title in his rookie year and possibly have another shot at winning it again.
19:12So, yeah, a lot of different scenarios.
19:14But this guy is not just Jet Lawrence's brother.
19:18He's here, and he can win this title.
19:20I wouldn't be shocked at all if it's straight up he beats his brother next weekend.
19:24And you even said in qualifying, James, that you thought there were some things about Hunter's riding style that would really work, maybe even better than Jet's on this track.
19:31Yeah, Hunter likes to sit down a little bit more than his brother.
19:33They both stand up a lot compared to most of these guys.
19:37But I think when the track gets slippery, it gets, you know, rough, Hunter, because he likes to sit down, he's able to put more traction on that tire, which allows him to just look more comfortable.
19:47We've seen it happen outdoors.
19:49At the end of the day, number one's out front.
19:54Roxen has caught Webb again.
19:56It's close early in the race, and this will be a battle for fifth.
20:00And these two have had some unbelievable duels in these stadiums at Monster Interview Supercross to the years.
20:06That is McElrath going a lap down as Jet Lawrence is a lap and a half to go.
20:10Yeah, that's Eli.
20:11Wait a minute, Eli Tomac.
20:12It's right there.
20:14He has caught Jet Lawrence.
20:15What has happened?
20:16I don't know if Jet knows that that's him.
20:18He's looking back.
20:19There he is.
20:20Lap traffic everywhere.
20:21I think he was playing it too cool in the lappers.
20:27Yeah, he must have got caught up in that rhythm section for him.
20:31Watch this.
20:32He's going to turn it loose right here.
20:33Getting around Guillaume.
20:34Then around Switzerland.
20:36This could be all the difference.
20:37You can see it in the tone and the body language on his motorcycle.
20:41He is going for it.
20:43Listen to this.
20:47And the crowd reacts because they know Tomac has him in sight.
20:51One to go.
20:55Tomac would win the overall if he wins the moto.
20:58Jet loses the rear coming out of that corner.
21:00And Hunter is right there.
21:01And Hunter is right there also.
21:03Yeah, speaking of...
21:04Listen to this crowd.
21:07Now Hunter attacking Tomac.
21:12Last lap battle between the three.
21:13What has happened to Jet Lawrence?
21:17Yeah, I actually think what Hunter is doing is helping Jet Lawrence because he's keeping Eli focused behind him.
21:25Because Hunter knows if he passes his brother, he's going to lose his overall.
21:28You got to keep the pressure on Eli to keep him focused.
21:30Working on the lap traffic.
21:33Mitchell Harrison split lane.
21:35Look at Jet playing defense.
21:37Jumping to the inside right there.
21:39That was a smart move.
21:41Eli following suit.
21:43Last time around, they were both faster than Jet.
21:46Hunter and Eli.
21:48That was a nice double right there.
21:50That's going to give him the gap he needs.
21:52Two turns to go.
21:55Jet almost passed Tomac in the last turn of the first race.
21:58Tomac's not quite close enough to get it this time.
22:03Checkered flag in sight.
22:05Oh, Hunter going after Tomac.
22:07Jet Lawrence wins the moto.
22:09Hunter Lawrence goes 1-3 for the overall.
22:11And he has won round two for the third straight year to keep the championship in play going to the finale.
22:20This is Webb holding off rocks into the line from fourth.
22:24What happened to Chase Sexton?
22:26Wait a minute.
22:26They were battling for fifth.
22:29And instead, Chase Sexton is behind them.
22:34These last two laps.
22:38That was an exciting last two laps.
22:40I wasn't anticipating that.
22:41I just caught Sexton going across.
