00:17quiet afternoon with his four children when disaster struck. The first warning came as
00:23an ominous sound from outside his house. Golingai said he heard a pipe burst and went to investigate
00:29and when he looked outside, he saw the main water supply pipe had ruptured and the stream
00:34behind their house was turning muddy. Then the trees began falling. Realizing the danger,
00:40Golingai carried his two-year-old child and shouted for his other three children aged 10,
00:4515 and 17 to flee immediately. Golingai returned the following day and saw half of his house buried
00:53under mud. The same landslide damaged several neighboring homes, with one other house,
00:58suffering severe destruction. Two residents were trapped in the debris, a woman who escaped with
01:05minor injuries and a 97-year-old man who was tragically found dead the next day. This landslide
01:11was among the dozens of incidents recorded over the past week, following daily rains and thunderstorms
01:17that hit various parts of the state. Floods were reported in many areas, with Penampang,
01:23Beaufort and Tawau being the worst hit. Hundreds of people have been evacuated and the Civil Defence
01:29Department recorded a total of 437 victims from 128 households being displaced.
